# cinder karma c# - Prevent Visual Studio from auto import namespace when copy paste - Stack Ov...

For those on VS 2026 - Tools > Options now opens a tab instead of a window for the settings, which doesn't support the same things (and organized differently and support less things - ex. C# is not under Text Editor).

However, in classic MS fashion, the old options window is still a thing and redirected to sometimes, just like Windows and the classic Control Panel.

So if you go to Languages > C# > More Settings and click "Advanced", the old style options menu pops up, and it opens directly to the page where the option is.

# little furnace Economics are weird. And complicated.

the over simplification is you want to make as much money as possible so you charge as much as possible, but if you charge too much a customer might buy from your competitor or just stop using that type of product.

discounts are a tool to keep making max money from customers that aren't as price sensitive, but the price sensitive customer still buy your thing because some money is better than no money (as long as its still some profit margin)
though sometimes its okay to sell below cost if it makes the customer happy and they buy other stuff as a result that you do make money on, or to kill competition and raise prices later when the customer has no other choices left.

Atlases are horrible to author and mod, but the batching... So good...

Sdv kind of had the worst of both worlds though- it used atlases, but only for some things, which kinda defeats the point

house=(1,1)
cave=(3,5)
dungeon=(3,3)
tower=(3,7)
tower-top=(1,1)
gameover=(1,1)
#

And then a text file per zone with room contents. ex. surface.txt (the first image I shared)

# Random chest
(-1,0)[10,10,7,10]=get(key_house)
(-1,0)[12,12,3,6]=solid()

# House
(1,0)[13,13,1,4]=gotolocked(house,(0,0),(15,15),key_house)
(1,0)[13,11,10,8]=solid()

# Tower
(0,-1)[13,13,4,1]=gotolocked(tower,(0,3),(15,28),key_tower)

(0,-1)[10,6,10,6]=solid()
(0,-1)[11,5,8,1]=solid()
(0,-1)[12,4,6,1]=solid()
(0,-1)[11,12,8,1]=solid()
(0,-1)[12,13,6,1]=solid()

# Cave
(0,1)[13,14,4,4]=goto(cave,(-1,-2),(15,20))
devout vault
#

The original cave. The white spot on the left being the entry from the surface, the top right being the next zone entry. Left side of the river is the key to get in the next zone. Bottom right glow area is a secret item with a miniboss

#

The cave I showed earlier has an arrow pointing out the secret area, right?

#

This one did too. Technically

#

Can you spot it?

#

Here, maybe a magic wand with help

#

(Yes there was literally a difference of RGB (1,1,1) for the color of the arrow)

#

The initial version was kinda a bloodbath for anyone who played it, since enemies did not get any stun or knockback on hit. (Technically one weapon did knockback, but not the one you have initially)

#

And even if you made it to a boss, they spawned minions far too often.

devout vault

Did you break the gif maker or something

pliant snow

I forgot how unintuitive I find this game

devout vault
#

Or does it not automatically capture perfect loops

fleet wren
#

so it captures one loop of the full instruction chain, and it is implied that after every execution chain the arms return to their original position

devout vault
fleet wren
#

for this solution however the elemental wheel doesn't return to the original position until after two loops, and I can get away with this because I don't care what order of the elements I get as long as I get all 4 to construct the quintessence atom

devout vault
#

Ah. Weird

I would've assumed the gift maker would detect stuff like that and adjust accordingly

We've used C# since SpaceChem. I can't imagine using anything else, honestly. Infinifactory and TIS-100 use Unity, while everything else uses some kind of lightweight SDL-backed C# engine.

SHENZHEN I/O and Opus Magnum are both using a very minimalist C# "engine" inspired by some of Casey Muratori's ideas on game engines and game programming.

#

And I'm in the middle of debugging 😔

pliant snow
#

why are they automatically adding spaces to the end of some arms

devout vault
#

Is there a minimum cycle size or something?

#

Since they're all 6 instructions long

cinder karma
#

Good because I'm trying to screw paper to paper

pliant snow
#

Is that actually it, they all have to have the same number of commands

devout vault
#

No clue, I've never played 😛

fleet wren
#

yes so they can loop perfectly

little furnace
#

I think it's because like this they can basically run at the same time, just slightly shifted.

tranquil grove
#

I'm not sure how it plays out exactly, but yeah, the instructions all get padded to the same length so they sync up per product cycle

pliant snow
#

how does that sync up, since I've offset all of them

tranquil grove
#

no idea, it's been years since I played, that's just what like 10+ people on reddit said SDVkrobusgiggle

fleet wren
#

you can run the solution for a visual demonstration

tranquil grove
#

I'm guessing it's time needed to reset back into the original positions, but yeah, would have to see what the game does with it

pliant snow
#

The visual demostration is I try and time the arms to go to the right places, only to realize they've added padding I didn't expect to every other arm, meaning it's still off

little furnace
#

The idea is that all of them run in a six-instructions cycle. If one is shorter than six instructions, they wouldn't align anymore after a cycle.

fleet wren
#

you're not resetting the 3rd and 4th arm

cinder karma
#

Spinny spin

little furnace
#

As such, it would never work if they aren't padded, because then they would mess up everything in the second cycle.

For me it wasn't even explicitly wanting to be a girl. It was more... all the dysphoria and not knowing why, and also at times fantasizing about being a girl temporarily, and also avoiding playing female characters because they made me "uncomfortable", and...

devout vault

(that and I think the memes on there back there weren't quite as obvious)

supple ether
# dusty pollen the “always knew” thing drove me crazy because I never knew anything either way ...

Yeah like the way I felt about gender was that as a child I didn't really have one. My gender was Kid and that was the end of it. Sure, people categorized me as a boy, and there was definitely some discomfort there, but it was an entirely external thing. Then I hit puberty and suddenly it felt like it was being forced on me for the first time in my life.

So I wasn't "always" a girl, I was a Weird Kid first

devout vault
#

Yeahhh the other thing that complicates it is the whole feminity != being girl, and the lack of distinction being made a lot of the time

#

(I mean, both coincide to what I want, but I know it doesn't for everyone)

It’s always interesting to talk to people about when they first learned trans was a thing, because I never even thought about it being a big moment because my best friend’s parent came out when I was in early elementary school

And I once was talking to a friend who was like “college is when I learned trans was a thing and also it me”

My current view is I mainly just see myself as human and maybe programmer/gamer and respond to whatever people call me as English has a strong preference for a gender to exist to make sense

supple ether
#

I had a late puberty in high school for health reasons, but I just suffered through the dysphoria bc I thought that was just what it was like, and othering was already such an intrinsic part of my identity at that point that I didn't think too much about how I was different

cinder karma

I'm too autistic to care about the cultural significance of gender, and people have been "misgendering" me for 14+ years as I only have a haircut like once a year because I'm lazy and don't care about my appearance

My stance on clothes was "mom and dad please pick stuff out for me, but make it as plain and boring as possible with no designs, so that I don't stand out"
