on my phone it seems to connect fine but on the framework laptop I keep being thrown out and then can't log back in

There's been a bunch of back and forth this week about the game (including a bunch of stuff from former developers, including this guy - the person who started the studio / game project), and now it's a "maybe small chance of actually happening after all"

the idea being not being bottlenecked by spritebatch for content that doesn't change every frame, and having a usable depth buffer. the y value of vertices would be modified by the z value, with a top-down orthographic projection, so it appears like standard y-order layering, but also gives you a useful depth buffer for spatial effects. Enabling the depth buffer also allows for much better batching of sprites with binary transparency, especially if used with atlases. You'd still have to do a depth-sorted pass for semi-transparent sprites, but I don't think you'd need to use it much

and yeah, you want a nonreactive bowl so there's no traces stuck to it or left in it that can kill the meringue

It's rather generic advice honestly but the best way tends to be to first simplify the thing you want to down to something as basic and manageable as possible while still being tangentially in the right direction. Then try to build on top of that step by step. Accept that you will make wrong choices along the way and be willing to redesign as you get closer to the real product and have a better understanding of what the code actually needs to do
