that's okay! the recommended thing to download is r2modman, but you'll hear people refer to the thunderstore mod manager too. they're both exactly the same except r2modman runs independently so you don't need to download extra stuff to install it

once you install that, find PEAK in the games the launcher lists and select it, then you wanna make a "profile"

i would recommend taking caution with any mods that haven't been updated after the Mesa update (so anything that was last updated before August 11th), but there are plenty that do still work. most cosmetics do, for example, still work fine

Okay, this has gone too far. I joined the game with Atlas (I used it when I was hosting the game because I heard it could kick people by using 'destroy a player' or something — I didn't really try that). I forgot about it because I mostly play with normal people. I joined one server where Atlas is prohibited (plus mic only — I didn't notice that). They detected it, told me about it and banned me. This would be over, but one player (I won't say the name) remembered me from that server and tagged me on another server (atlas was off this time). Now, because I was tagged, I'm unable to play with people from there. One player remembered me because I've played with him before. I'm complaining because if I don't start talking about it, I won't be able to play on any public server.

it's sad that there's so many trolls that it's become so untrustworthy. if i join a server and they don't like that i have it, i explain myself and if they still don't give me a chance i leave. i'm not restarting the game and editing my profile every time i wanna join a lobby, it's just annoying for me

anyways,, ty! sorry to bother! im trying to launch the game through gale but for some reason, its not starting at all. no window popping up in my taskbar, nothing. the only indication that I get that it tried to start is that PEAK will run in steam for a few seconds before stopping.

guys, idk if its cause of a mod or not but AFTER having a mod my game got ruined and nothing helps..
I have finished a run on ascent 3 with a friend and after getting in the helicopter at the end 4 random scouts pop up in the heli and they have the model of "The Looker" and we get stuck on that screen where it shows everyone whos alive in the helicopter and dont get a "Next" screen pop up. im pretty sure this happened after installing the "Morepeak" mod, ive also finished it alone with no mods and have the same thing with the same Models and same stuck screen..
All we can do is quit the game and go to the main menu.. I have not seen this before and im unsure how to explain further or how to fix it myself

Overall it seems like for a lot of games, Vulkan can improve graphics and let you have higher frame rates, however it's significantly less stable for many games than dx12 is. So vulkan for frame rate but risk of instability, dx12 for stability but maybe not quite as good a frame rate

For your first question, the mod manager almost always installs any dependencies for you so you should be good just downloading the mod through the launcher.

As for your second part, there's 2 ways you can go about sharing your mods with friends.

1. Share the profile code like you said, which I think would mean they'd have to install a new profile every time you change anything in the modlist. Which could be bothersome since idk if your configs also copy over the same in profile codes.

Or
2. Make a modpack. It sounds complex but it's not too hard. And it's easy enough to update once you get the base stuff set up, since after that you'd only have to change the files a tiny bit each time you update.
Uploading modpacks make it easier for your friends to update the modlist yall are using without having to create a new profile and potentially redoing configs every time

Because that's exactly what causes it! Okay, open your passport and change your cosmetics on your character to all vanilla ones. Relaunch the game modded after that and you should be normal again

Anyway, yes, launching through thunderstore/r2 DOES in fact force Vulcan.

However, I accidentally found how to work around it.

Go to "set custom launch parameters" in your TS/R2 settings.

Copy the code that's under "Modded", including the spaces at the start

Go to steam, open Peak properties, paste that code into your advanced launch option.

Then make sure that "Selected Launch Option" is set to DX12.

Try launching from Steam after that and see if the game opens

1. Open your mod manager (TS/R2ModMan)

Pick your game profile (e.g., Peak).

Go into Settings → Set Custom Launch Parameters.

Find the "Modded" launch code

In the settings, you should see two options: Vanilla and Modded.

Yeah... the toggle do be sucking but mechanically it has to... You can't be nearly as precise with the left thumb stick while pressing it down for sprint jumps.

I gave up btw, got tired of randomly trying different seeds. As far as I can tell, the Open Burial mod does not work, just like someone warned me in the peak-vanilla-chat. Even if you pick a seed today that spawns MESA (level_1, level_7, maybe others), it doesnt force the Tomb to be open like the mod description says.

if you want access to the tomb then Level_7 is your best bet but you will need to glitch through the rock in the rock maze

they really need to rethink the generation of the tomb
if people need to resort to glitches to get into the tomb then there's gonna need to be some changes
