While it is unlikely that every flip will be heads or tails, probability is not weighted one way or the other with the previous result. So we could get alpine - alpine - mesa - alpine - alpine - alpine - mesa

think of taking tickets randomly from a basket without re-adding tickets until basket is empty, starting with 4 green tickets 4 red tickets. after removing 3 green tickets and 0 red tickets, what is the chance the next ticket removed will be red?

this is the system at play, BUT the tickets are actually not selected randomly -- only the order is random, forming basically a sequence/list like Green red red green green ... which will be the same every time. So players select those tickets in a pre-determined sequential order, where every chance is 100/0 (even though to the player it appears random)

Occasionally though, the player is told to re-shuffle their list of tickets, add some tickets back into their list, or even add new tickets to the list. This happens on game update (and is also the cause for seeing 5 alpines in a row when it'd otherwise be impossible with a pool of 7-8 maps)

We say 50/50 to make it easy (Average) but its a bit more complicated. It is not a 50/50 everyday

I play too much Peak… I had a dream about the unused (potential spoiler) ||zombunny|| and I dreamt up a new biome called the Graveyard. it was gray and hilly and very halloween themed (I found a stock image online that looks similar, I might sketch what I dreamed).
there was some luggage but there were also coffins with cartoon scout skeletons in them and they would hold valuable items. any time you picked up these items you gained a decent amount of curse damage. the flora that you could eat were different types of pumpkins.

That are tricky

This is a manageable kiln though, chain launcher, lolly and energy drink, and you are chilling

But overall you can probably rawdog the entire seed today

Keep in mind that the chain launcher is more limited by height than it is distance. If you're trying to aim it above the halfway point on your screen it'll likely cut you off

The mushroom spawns will always be the same spots. The mushrooms will not necessarily always be there though. And the type of mushroom will be random each new playthrough. They used to update the map on the wiki to add some mushroom locations but I don't think anyone really does that anywhere anymore.

So every new update/patch the devs roll out a batch of new seeds. Each seed when created as a 50% chance to either be Mesa or Alpine. Each seed is labeled Level_1, Level_2, etc. and they are played in sequential order. So if there is 10 seeds and we run all 10 before the next patch/update we will loop back around to the same Level_1 again.

This does not mean that there is exactly 5 of each biome though in a batch of seeds though, as it's still entirely just chance based on RNG.

I'm also not entirely sure how many seeds are generated each patch so those numbers are just examples.

I had to back track in Shores and Tropics which cost me some time. Alpines was actually pretty straight forward and I made really good time in Caldera. In the Kiln I overcommitted to a route that ended up not working and I wasted like 2-3 mins on that having to backtrack a little. I'll have to give Shores and Tropics a lookover to find better routes
