Jump past the flare box, not into the kiln, there's a bug where sometimes it triggers the helicopter sequence, either that or go back down to search suitcases for the chance of a flare

The bug is sometimes during certain falls, especially from a great height in or around kiln you can trigger the helicopter sequence

When exiting the Kiln, going towards Peak and the flag, just keep walking that direction and jump

Hopefully it works, worked for the other person yesterday, but it's a bug and not 100% guaranteed so

I believe it does, I died on yesterdays mountain and the fire rose up (backpack was stationary and didn't roll off) and when the other player went to my body to retrieve it the backpack was gone and the items.

you can ward him off / despawn him but you cant really fight him (unless you want to fight a losing battle)

I had a moment on Kiln just now where I energy drink'd to climb over to a hot rock with luggage on it while quite hungry. When the sleep kicked in I had maybe 3 ticks of stamina left total, because I just didn't think. Dropping the backpack saved my life.

So yeah that run had a lot of bad calls in it.
