you can also just speedrun by leaving at the caldera end campfire and rejoining once it's been touched bc it resets your time in regards to the achievement (same for balloon)

alpine is the hardest really with it just being a sheer cliff with no good way to climb it in tropics u have the vines which are very fast if u use them correctly and big vines(without spikes) that are op too

I feel like Alpine is a little more straight forward, harder cliffs and cold need to be respected, the storms are worse than in tropics but most of the time both will make me stop and wait for it to pass.
The straight forwardness is easier to manage for me

sooooo, fun fact, I managed to get the cursed skull to the top of the mountain, and use it next to the hidden statue on asc7. I didn't have a flare on me, didn't use one too. I just wanted to test this but, using the cursed skull (solo) in front of the statue while looking at the "orb" instantly skipped to the win cinematic in the rescue helicopter. I'd love to get someone else to do it to see if it does the same, and if it also works in coop (and if it wins for everyone for exemple) but considering the odds of getting the skull this might be quite hard

id imagine it is procedurally generated, as there is some bits of code scattered around in the client thats talking about map generation, and in the past maps a few issues were present. At one point a waterfall did not reach the bottom and in another case in the first segment boxes were just flying in the sky.
So id be pretty sure it is procedurally generated and then shipped out to people
I really hope we someday get the ability to generate fresh maps ourselves

on current map, there's at least 3 cases under the ground on the beach spawn. you can get them if you reach at least the tropics and do the out of the map jump by going backward in the fog, you will need something to heal you from the fall tho and i'ts pretty useless as it softlock you

i feel conceptionally it probably shouldn't be too hard. Wpuld need to reverse engineer the level file and the assets files that is distributed along with it, and then probably write a custom mapgen as the official one seems to be either in a different program or, more likely, gotten rid of by a preprocessor statement / conditional()-attribute
then somehow bake lighting as some code mentions baking that sooo most likely it uses baked lighting
and theeeeeen we should be good to go, but seems like a lot of work still ://

So for theoretical swamp biome we have, similar to tropics vibe for the colour scheme, BUT we have huge trees to cross instead, vines too probably, big branches from the trees. Higher chance of ticks. Lots of mushrooms on the ground level. Water similar to lava in Caldera. Water for the majority of the level with crocodiles in it that chase. The land has lots of mud in it that slows you down and takes more stamina to cross through.

So for the desert probably just sand again, add some cacti very sparsely, heat similar to the frost in alpines (potentially frost at night), maybe some trees that provide shade from it, quick sand that gives you the zzz effect if you get stuck in it. Vulture that tries to pick you up and can drop vulture meat if killed, you can use rocks found in the desert or elsewhere to kill it.

For mountain village perhaps a jungle or desert type biome with abandoned houses made of straw, wood, and bamboo.

it only works for eligible players, i assume it has something to do with latency since i had more trouble getting it to work as host but i dont really know. in any case if you are "eligible" (whatever that means) it will work consistently for you, and if you are ineligible then it will fail consistently

there might be more spot that didn't appear for me during all 4 runs anyway, but I hope that'll help some get the achievement. remember if you find 3/4 you can still extend the run to the tropics in search of the last one, and also do it in tenderfoot to remove the fog
