the challenge is 'use these colors in a drawing', basically. you can make any illistration, or design a character, or draw these colors on a existing character

so long as its just these colors, you can go crazy

usually when i do these challenges there is like 1 really pale color and 1 dark color and at least 2 colors are similar so I can make it work

no i think the challenge is to use the colours, i was just changing it to black and white to see how the values look

it's a very very limited range and would make illustration pretty difficult

It's also very bright, and theres little colors that can act as shading/dark/lineart, as nine pointed out

yeah usually u need more of a value range to make decent stuff otherwise it ends up looking a bit flat

there's only really one maybe two of these colours that could be relatively considered dark

eeh i'd say most of them have some sort of vibe i referenced, i dont use other characters as references for my own, i just pull from lots of different things

some have heavier inspirations than others, but i generally dont pull from just one or two sources

Yeah, its great to take some insperations, like for example, some character is too hard to make and you watched a bunch of adventure movies, and make something based on it in some way with a different approch.

Cause, nine's works remind me of mouthwashing, and some vibes towards "the thing" john carpenter's film but in a cartoonish, 2012 way. Its a very good way and I love it for that reason, its great.

The only exception is if its like under specific guidelines you set as an artist, for example, the creative commons one I mostly use because of SCP, and I made my own custom SCP-079 animation and its free for people to use rn, as long as they are not claiming it to be their orginal works, or they attempt to not credit you in some way, then its not okay to do, its like a term of sealing someone elses work.
