OKAY so basically . the green scout (fern) was abandoned in the kiln by their so called friend because they had fallen and broken their leg. the only item fern had in their pocket was a scoutmaster's bugle . so as a last resort, fern played it. scoutmaster myres was going to attack them, but took pity on them for being abandoned similar to himself. he climbed with them on his back to the peak. they both felt a familial connection but weren't able to talk because the helicopter was approaching , and myres disappeared before fern could even say thank you.
