Some people have mentioned that my pumpkin character, which i made yesterday reminds them of Gourdy from Dandy's World😭 😭 While I understand why they said that, given the some of design similarities, it felt a bit rude. The stylization of Gourdy and my character is completely different. My character has a more human-like form and was fundamentally designed based on the PEAK outfit. While the pumpkin or leafy tail might have contributed to the similarity in character elements, these are clichéd features already present in countless pumpkin/jack-o'-lantern characters...
Comments like ‘Your character looks like someone from such-and-such game’ can carry a nuance suggesting my creation is a copy, which can be sensitive for creators. So sometimes, such comparisons feel like a faux pas. While the comparison might be well-intentioned, creators generally prefer their character's ‘unique charm’ to be respected over being ‘compared’ to others.
Even if the intent is complimentary, I hope many people understand that ‘directly comparing their original character to another character’ is generally considered poor manners...
