Any advice on how I could get better with free-handed lines? When I draw with pencil is run it over a line over and over and then erase it to look how I want, but that just makes the page a smudge mess more often than not. I wanna get better at just drawing a line.

When you train your hand to draw longer lines quickly, you learn lineart a lot faster in my experience. You could try that

In reference to that artwork, this somehow reminds me of Jerome from Diary of a Wimpy Kid (AKA "The Man with Incredibly Red Lips")

TLDR it was a in-universe bad comic of sorts by the book series' protagonist, Greg, making fun of Jerome who somehow had oversized red lips.

In the case I remember, one of the comics had Jerome get new roommates, one of whom had recently made red kool-aid but the other roommate stole it all... and Jerome has really red lips....
