Basically, his mind controls a pocket dimension 1/100th of the world has access to called The Mirror Realm. It is basically an 8th continent you can only access through mirrors by quite literally stepping into them. There's reasons why he's connected to it but thats not important, but eitherway having control over this pocket dimension gave him control of it's contents, well that was until L O R E happened to him which broke him. This caused the realm to start to break down and disassemble, along with getting overran with monsters. Thankfully, Dan kinda remains trapped in his head so he doesn't affect the "Overworld" as it's called, however The Mirror Realm has become total chaos.
