you can try to search for pirate's compass
it will lead you to locations of luggages
the only downside is that it has 1% chance of being spawned in a luggage
the explorers luggages (the orange ones) have the highest rope spool and cannon chances
so try to open as many of those as possible
mine shafts in mesa have a few luggages too, so make sure to check those too

the reason peak has better co op than repo (not saying repo is bad) is because unlike repo, where you can just have your friends die and go on your own anyway, your round in peak can change dramatically if your friend dies, especially if they have something important or you arent very skilled. In peak, co op can be easier for a lot of people.
