climb the trees in roots, the leaves are standable and its pretty easy to get to the top from the shore campfire. you can skip half the mountain, sometimes more if you path well

It works better the further away from your character you aim. Anything almost vertical (directly above) is reallllly risky, prioritize between 45 and 75 degree angles. When you start getting close to the end of the claw grab (within a few meters of the wall) unequip the claw from your hand and you should be free to grab

Difference between single player and multiplayer is that the game appears to lock your character into ragdoll until the game verifies your location for all players which generally takes longer when in multiplayer making it much more risky and requires a lot more precise aim and timing

Best advice I can give is that the night cold amounts to 100% of your stamina bar. If your stamina bar is good otherwise you can just drop all of your items and take a short nap and you'll be fine. Technically don't even need to use the lantern. Just avoid being hungry and injured

They are hard to find though, so my recommendation would generally be to wait for a map with tropics anyway

it is bad, i've hunted all the way through kiln before and not gotten it (did finally get it and will never attempt again)

at least with the pitons, it's cumulative across expeditions
