They will remove themselves over time and it's generally pretty quick in single player. If otherwise you have thorns on your body the easiest way to remove them is by grabbing a wall so you can move your camera around

getting a good route down takes a few attempts, as for the cold you dont really have to speedrun to the campfire. If its hurting you more than helping then take it a little slower and use the starter lantern sparringly. Remember that each night gives a total of 100 cold (a full bar) so you dont have to waste a bunch of the lantern since you will survive the night even if you pass out

It negates heat. So you can run on the floor as long as there's no lava. Over all it's faster because cooking the milk 12 times takes about 30 seconds, which is more time than you save by just going skele
