it really depends on the player. the more experienced player will def take advantage of its pros while the more new players will prolly make mistakes and end up dying from it

I suppose that makes sense, but for one if you're dying to falls they're frequently run-ending even when it's not instantaneously, and beyond that it's just really hard to not find an easy and risk-free path up the cliff when you always have maximum stamina and zero sense of urgency that normally comes from having to avoid hunger and hazards.

I think there's a in between where inexperienced players will die because of it, more experienced players will use advantage of the pros and the masters will just ignore it because it gives too much of a boost

I didnt no that cooking it removes its curse thats wild, yeah i realized book of bones is quite powerful at times (esp in as6 as7 thats the only reason i ever won those) but I think its fine you are 1 slip up from dying, i guess the only nerfs i can think of is not having that happen when cooked or have it make your more sensitive to falls ? so the airtime fall damage thing window is less but as is I think its okay even if its a little on the powerful end

I also had one run where a Rescue Claw decided to make me do a 720 in the air for no reason so I got disoriented and fell and died, but I think that fall would have ended the run as a non-skeleton anyway. Other than those it wouldn't be functionally different so far if it just called the helicopter to your current location instead.

I prefer Roots to Tropics personally after some time to get used to it. I'm not a fan of how the spiders are designed but the Zombies are fun once you understand kiting them off a cliff instead of just trying to outrun them for two minutes, the bounce shrooms are both fun and introduce a lot of acrobatic stunts you don't get to do anywhere else, and while the wind is more dangerous than rain it typically has the same effect of just standing around waiting for it to end but isn't as obnoxiously long.

The zombies can usually be handled by making them leap at you and tumble down the cliff instead of trying to outrun them until they expire, it only takes small fall for them to end up far enough down that they're no longer a threat.

The wind IMO is both less annoying and less overall dangerous than rain since it doesn't last so long. You just hug a wall for a little bit when it starts - it only ever really poses an active danger if you forget that there hasn't been any in awhile and start a climb that it'll ruin if it kicks in. There've also been a few situations where I used the wind to make a jump I couldn't have otherwise, which doesn't happen often enough to be notable but is very satisfying when the chance arises.

The trees I just outright disagree with, I've had many maps where a tree way up the mountain presented a very easy opportunity to scale my way up to either a vine or a jump back to the cliff at a much higher point than I started.

The mushrooms as well can be surprisingly handy when they're in a decent spot once you understand that you can get most/all of your height back and it regenerates your stamina. You can either leap across giant chasms that happen to have one in the middle or sometimes even just drop down from the side of a cliff you're scaling onto a mushroom to restore stamina and sail back up, which is both fun and feels super rewarding to spot.

Spores are the main one I agree with. I don't really like the toxic clouds you have to make a break through, I don't like that zombie bites last forever if not cured, and I don't like how rapidly spiders can descend from fifty feet up in the air to snatch you even if you were being reasonably aware of your surroundings.

The zombies don't predict your movement, they leap directly at you. You don't need to 'juke' at least in the sense of switching directions when they leap - they will veer wildly off to the side and tumble to their death if you are simply moving perpendicular to them.

I've only actually killed a friend with the Rescue Claw once but I've failed to save someone with it a couple times too in my haste to try to get them out of lava and either failed to yank them somewhere save to get them back up or missed and pulled myself into the lava instead.

I've also died a few times to its wonky behavior in solo runs, but that's across a lot of runs - I still consider it to be a pretty crazy item when you're not responsible for a group.

4. We ate all the honey and made our way back, used a couple more rope tech and got to the top of the Tropics.

You can stretch a climb out with Rope Spool somewhat similar to a Piton by climbing partially up an otherwise insurmountable wall, placing the rope, dropping back down to regenerate and then doing the climb again but using the rope to get back to (slightly higher than) where you stopped for minimal stamina cost.

That's the only 'tech' I'm familiar with that doesn't overlap with its obvious main use case of providing an easier climb to players below you.

One person in our group once tried placing a cannon to help people up to a ledge on Kiln and it completely overshot the ledge but totally by accident ended up sending everyone past it to an even better route, and since then she makes any excuse to use them as soon as possible with the expected outcome.

I've consistently watched her walk away from dying players but she will never abandon a Scout Cannon.

Sometimes no one is around though since everyone is really bad about wandering off in different directions or taking six-minute detours because they spotted some Luggage on the other side of the galaxy.

the path I plotted was RISKY, just had an ehh jump.

And then.. a friend fell, so I signaled to the two who made it to wait. Right?

So I leap down with my Medkit and safely make it to the bottom by grabbing the wall a few times.

I revive them, and we begin to make our way back up (I’m the one who makes the paths and remembers that and all that..) and when we get back up

the other two DIED when we were away, even when I told them to wait..

I'll sometimes spot some easily-accessed Luggage a short climb back down and quickly divert to scale down and grab it or something similar and then since I can't talk I can't do anything about my injured and battered friends who were following me assuming the expectation was for them to jump down after me.

I have a bad habit of being really confident other people will react to circumstances the same way I would.

And then point to the ground right in front of them

And then sometimes they actually listen

Other times if a teammate has a rope cannon I point in front of them and then up, and then sometimes they actually get that too

I don't have any ability at all to remember the path I took previously - if I have to backtrack it's pretty unlikely I'll be coming back up the same way again unless there are placed items necessary for the journey.

Sometimes my friends will do followup runs with one or two people while we're winding down from a multiplayer session and they spend so long staring at the mountain trying to piece together the path they took last time in order to follow it.

And I'm just like "what's wrong with the one you're looking at right now? "
