Both of the new biomes are way too long compared to their vanilla counterparts. They're neat but outstay their welcome.
With them being more difficult also we've often had matches where 3/4 players die early and have to watch the 1 survivor climb the level solo for 10-15 minutes.

I think they just take getting used to. As an experienced player I find Kiln to be pretty easy at this point, but the Roots biome was hard. However, when I played with friends who were new at the game, they found the Kiln to be much harder than the Roots.
