You can't get 100% collection without paying literally thousands of dollars, but if you budget well you can get a lot of characters and play very competitively as free to play. It just takes patience, and quite a bit of time to build up resources. But F2P can match whales in performance, even if they can't match in collection.

Since Roots is new it's locked to Roots, but it'll become Tropics again eventually soon and then they'll probably introduce a randomiser to pick between them or something like that

It can be pretty tough, don't worry - you have to manage your resources and avoid ailments the best you can to avoid running out of stamina pretty much, you learn it as you play

however, tenderfoot makes you lose waaay less stamina from climbing pretty sure and it removes a fair bit of the game's core difficulty features so if you're aiming to get good at the game it'll be a real shock going from tenderfoot back to peak if you build bad habits

Dude mandrakes are so easy to pocket, if unplucked just climbing when you pick it up does it. Else the other 2 methods, or be a skeleton and put it in your bag
