I play with two different friend group and unfortunately, one spends more time talking about how they'll climb than actually climbing so the fog has been their #1 killer

FogSphereOrigins MoveOnHeight seems to be where it starts moving the fog (the fog text), and the origin is where it stops.
that log is from today's beach.
MoveOnHeight=70*1.6=112m which checks out and 302*1.6=484m which seems correct, as the campfire is at ~457m
so that part confuses me, as I thought the fog can't get you when you're at a campfire. But the campfire_segment or the campfire probably does something to the fog.
MoveOnForward I would bet is to keep the fog from spawning when oyu're at the previous campfire.
