I think it's because the game itself was primarily focused on creating a functioning game and ironing out all potential bugs and all that bizz. That and I think there's no dedicated servers.

What I've noticed is when people leave, they don't drop their items, which can ruin games in higher Ascent difficulties such as Ascent 4+.
