im always on my toes and moving forward, whereas with alpine a lot of my time is spent sitting in a ditch staring at my watch

Mesa has a lot going on but none of it requires any actual decision-making. It's always "when x do y"

so there's tangible risk and reward to going out into the sun if you think you can make it

whereas with the snow storm if you play like that you're gonna die in 2 seconds

Yes but it takes forever to dissipate and is a constant annoyance for 70% of the biome

to each their own. mesa's spiraling cave exploration type climb is really satisfying to me (and exploding the scorpions is peak entertainment)

If you get too close or look at them for roughly 3sec, The Looker will disappear. This has a toggleable option in the in-game settings as well!

i feel like its only really boring if you beat the game 30 times and all you want to do is get the fastest time to the top

that's not why i find it boring. the climb just takes no skill, requires no routing, is far too long, and has a miserable walk to get there

Kiln was my favorite biome when I started playing but after a while it gets pretty boring. It's probably the second or third easiest biome
