oof, I got stuck in a dead end cave system on the far left of mesa today, and didn't realise until i was way deep into it. night fell and I was left hoping I had enough time to it to clear by next morning. if day broke 4-5 second earlier I would have eventually gotten back up.

I'm trying to solo run every difficulty mode, and I'm terrified of the 40% extra stamina drain

mesa has some really nice inner caves to avoiding the day heat

sometimes in alpine you're stuck climing in the open for quite a while

and one good blizzard will end you quickly

if there are geysers outside the middle area theyre good, but if you're lacking a source of heat (lantern ran out for example) just a few ticks of blizzard can kill you

I've found the alpine actually has similar internal layouts to the Mesa, but the ice textures are all so similar that it makes it very hard to tell where the tiny crevices are

it somehow feels like the rocks are more rounded and harder to climb

You are right to fear and respect it, I've only soloed ascent 7 once, and I've yet to properly replicate the event

each night lasts for 200 seconds and you get 2.5% cold every 5 seconds so exactly 97.5% of the bar for cold per night (it starts at the first 5 seconds so you skip one tick of cold)

The scouts in peak are roughly 80 g, because you can lift yourself up with 6 helium(?) balloons so in peak you weigh about as heavy as a chocolate bar

That's how I did it my first time solo ascents, plan a route (write it down) then go ffffast. If you test a wall and it takes more than half your bar, go back down or decide its worth reserve/ tool

Normally I find the mesa to be easy, but for some reason there are lots of dead ends, and sometimes the only way to climb up without using stamina is to zig zag from one border to the other

Only advice I can give is when in doubt, stick to the middle and left sides

If you want to do all the asc difficulties, set a day to learn the map and decide a route that takes either no items or maybe one or two (avoid extremely difficult stretches for asc 6+). Optimizing the route makes up for the difficulty.

I used only 2 rope launchers for that route, but for general play on high asc I just use items however

If you're struggling on tropics find the massive tree center right starting from the bottom and climb up it and go left. For mesa I stay right

If you struggle with caldera grap the idol (requires items asc 7) and just walk through the lava
