idk but my average tips are: remember to cook all foods & healing items once
if you need to go back down, jump instead of walking off a cliff, jumping makes you take less damage
you're in no hurry in tenderfoot food/fog wise (since fog doesnt exist)
take time to try and visualize a route that'd be good, usually you can see if for example the left side has a pretty much staircase to the top of the mountain
dont hoard items

Very very good general tips! I would also add: take your time, there is usually an easier route (look for one with lots of ledges that look short climbs and walkable on that you know you can get) - risking it for that one big climb kills most people I see

I'd also keep 1 healing item like a medkit/cureall/pandoras on you if you have one available if playing solo and starting out, if you fall you can still usually save the run if you start using the healing item in time to have a second try

I would say solo is harder, the game is significantly easier if you have a group that want to help each other out.
The above tips all would help, as for tropics specifically- spend some time looking for a good easier way up, sometimes it's a tree with easy branches, a vine, some small ledges etc.
Don't be afraid to use climbing materials, it's better to use them and get further than not use them and die (for example, not using a piton and falling to your doom)

Solo is a satisfying challenge in its own right, less chaotic but you need to prioritise what you need since you don't have the extra space. A fun challenge is the ascents solo

With the ascents being optional already, I feel similarly to say, a boss rush mod for other games. A good portion of the playerbase won't ever engage with anything but the first few, as long as it doesn't lock anything amazing I don't see the harm in optional challenges geared towards an audience like that. Alternatively, could be funny to just make a purposely easier achievement like 'fail a tenderfoot run'
