Tornadoes are a bit of the alpine situation… tumbleweeds too… but the heat from the sun adds an interesting layer for navigation, as well as counterplay for the frost in ascent 5+, the scorpions can be chucked away, and you can use dynamite to either kill scorpions in your way, or use dynamite to cook things you’d otherwise have to make it to the top for or use a portable stove for. A lot of little things to appreciate.

kiln honestly isn't so bad as long as you keep all your needs full. it's easier than you think. i like to keep at least 2 really good foods on me at all times and mostly eat small food items i find along the way until i reach the kiln. usually that's enough to last the entire run. other than that, store lollipops, energy drinks, and statue rewards. tools like pitons, launchers, and rope guns can help. chain launchers and rope guns are useful in particular. when you're plotting a path in the kiln, choose the way that looks the "craggliest," as that's usually the easiest to climb. don't be afraid to climb over burning rocks if it gets you to a better position. also make sure not to overpack with health items. it might be okay to bring a bandage or medkit but it is probably more worthwhile to use that slot for a tool.

no i'll check. there's another way up i swear i could make off to the right by climbing up trees and scaling the wall. it would take a full bar, but ik it's possible. the sole problem is that the trees are arranged in such a way that you will be climbing one and it instantly transfers you to grabbing another when you dont mean to, draining your stamina reserves

Still wondering which biome would be less excruciating for Ascent 6 & 7. I've generally found Alpine to be easier because you aren't burning up in the open during the day and blizzards can be avoided when they appear. There are also item drops catered towards warming against the cold, and the mountain caves aren't full of dead ends like the Mesa is. Alpine's first half is also not infested with countless hazards

but mesa does have a lot more food around than the trees that can choose to not feed you, even just mushrooms. so if you're blind a6-a7 and not particularly fast, you might have more success in mesa

Generally the only food mesa provides are those thorny cactucfruits, which deal temporary thorn damage (that stick on your face), and I've had more luck finding winterberries

hey, if you find three mushrooms and chuck a dynamite at them, that's pretty tasty. and sometimes those trees while you're in the middle of the alpine climb just don't have pumpkins on em. or you can throw multiple scorpions into a pit and fry em all up

it depends, if your inventory is already full then you probably should ignore them, but if you've got multiple spaces and a lot of different things that can spawn that will help (e.g. not at full reserve so you can just quaff a trail mix as soon as you see it) then it might be worth a little looksie

The entrance to the tomb is generally located at the start of the Mesa's sands. Look for a small mound with a rocky hole leading downward. Don't confuse this with antlion holes
