the depletion is usually based on how high of a chance you have of surviving it, like heat you can get rid of, but usually without a healing item fall damage will kill you like 100% so it depletes faster in solo
also you could have used the pandoras box to save yourself instead of the faerie lantern btw

yeah in solo if you take a bunch of fall damage and you have an item to instantly get rid of it with, use that! Since the depletion is pretty brutal in solo and faerielanterns/remedy funguses dont work fast enough against the depletion in most cases imo
