If you're slow enough the fog is catching you, then hunger will get you first on the alpine/mesa biome where food isn't readily available. Taking a bad climb in tenderfoot and realising 'oop if i used all my stamina on tenderfoot, i wouldn't make it when it's harder...' is fine training

That's a good point. It doesn't help I'm doing the bing bong achievement too because I don't trust people to make it to the end with him with me in the party. So I've been essentially doing Solo with 1 missing backpack slot as well, which worked out in tenderfoot, I got to Caldera on my first try

imagine a biome called "crater" that's all weird and alien, has gravitational anomalies [gravity becoming suddenly weaker, stronger, reversed, etc] and at the center is a large meteorite, presumably the cause of all the weird stuff going on

One backpack slot plus a little weight is fine (hello flare...) so keep cooking away with achievements and try to see what good terrain looks like. Sadly the only way to learn the limit of a climb or what ledges can be stood on is to fail it sometimes...

One step at a time. Find a wall that you can make it, get a bit higher, find the next wall. Open luggages to get items that can help, and look around for food like berries and coconuts to keep hunger away

Funny thing I learned in Alpine is that it helps to look for the edge/boundary bounded by both flat ground and wall textures

the game is more like a ladder than a climb, main piece of advice is if it looks like the floor, you can generally stand there and regain stamina

You'll need to find and open luggages. Platforms you can stand on. Cooked food/drink gives you extra Stamina and some items like Energy Drink makes you climb faster and drain less stamina, or a Lollipop that gives you infinite stamina for a few seconds.

However, both give you a sleepy effect that reduces your stamina so be careful!

I haven't died on the tropics for a long time, once you sort of... start piecing together all the things they give you there (lots of food, vines, tree routes) but I think that's a fair point to say that it's the hardest because that's a lot of different things to puzzle together and a lot of things that will kill you while you do it
