but you're not a buzzkill for setting some form of difficulty to perform a task and saying "no, you can't scale down a ravine 500 feet with your bare hands without some kind of equipment/character background in free solo climbing. even if they have a climbing speed, that's multiple rolls, on the dexterity and endurance front, to get down. that's just real life, and even in a fantasy, if you get rewarded from doing nothing, the victory just feels empty.

My philosophy is, just make sure that the reward you give at the end of the challenge fits the difficulty. If the party pulls off something insane, you can be sure they're getting something cool at the end.

and yeah, parties will do that sometimes, the derailing thing x.x

was not noticeably difficult. the path was intuitive enough that i didnt end up leaving a trace. theres the thing about lots of bomb pustules and geysers in the tropics and alpine but if youre aware of the general player size then it's alright. i didnt encounter any concealed geysers like i have on previous days
