it's not really RNG based, I think once you get more experience you'll get a lot better at climbing
it can just take time to get used to finding where to go

Think of it as a learning experience!

The kiln looks scary but you just have to be patient and look around for routes!

The Caldera is a simple one, you can run on magma but not on lava. There are tides in the caldera, high tides and low tides. In high tides stay on a rock, in low tides run through the magma to another rock, maybe two? Repeat. Dont worry, you’ll get the hang of it. Just be patient!

steam deck actually would use vulkan either way because it is linux, the difference being that if you select dx12, proton (the software that valve uses to run windows games on linux) just translates code back to vulkan

Is there a strat with campfire for the night?
Like do I wait to start fire till its night or would the hunger speed end up killing you that way?

i dont usually have a lack of food at that point - i think the hunger increase is mostly for a kiln resource pinch. i usually wait at unlit campfire site until the cold is close to knocking me out, and then i try to stay there until i can safely exist without heat (i.e. tanking a few ticks of cold damage)

tbh ive only really felt the hunger increase properly matter in multiplayer, otherwise i'm just more readily eating the random scavenged stuff you find on the way
