I went out of my way in caldera to find resources but didn't see a single flare. at that point, we still had the backpack until another friend passed out and the second backpack got eaten in an attempt to revive them. we only noticed close to the end of kiln that we're missing the flare when I asked who had the flare. in any case, we opened a lot of coffins

Oh sorry I didn't read thoroughly. Yes, the seeds are already in the game. They change with each patch. so 1.9 now is different than 1.8, we had repeats at 1.4 cuz we had a revert, but only 2 times. since then, we've been running smoothly.

When you get to the snow land, before dropping down from the shelf with the campfire, just look around at the ice zone. Look for the clouds slowly rising from one of the rocks. That's the hotspring they're in.
