A guide to falling in Peak, i.e., how to optimise your screw-ups.

Falling mechanics:
The longer you spend not standing nor climbing, the higher your “floating stat” gets.
The higher floating gets, the stronger the force pulling you down gets.
The faster you go when falling, the more damage you take.
When you enter the state of floating, there’s an initial peak in this floating stat.
Grabbing onto a wall, regardless of whether or not you have stamina, has a spike of reduced floating after a brief time.
If you have stamina, grabbing onto a wall will reduce stamina at a constant rate, not including the spike.
If you are sliding with no stamina, you will still continue gaining floating and therefore accelerating.
Standing instantly removes all floating.
Grabbing onto a wall and letting go repeatedly takes less stamina to reduce the same amount of floating as sliding down a wall with stamina does.
However, grabbing onto a wall and letting go repeatedly reduces floating slower than sliding down a wall with stamina does.
Before you fall, ask yourself:
Can I make it to my destination with the stamina I have?
Can I make it to the ledge I came from with the stamina I have?
Can I make it to another nearby ledge with the stamina I have?
If the answer to all of these questions is “no”, let go, and use your stamina to aid you in your fall.
As you fall:
Repeatedly grab onto a ledge for just enough time to obtain the floating reduction spike, then let go and grab again. This is more stamina-efficient than just sliding.
Time your final grab-on so that you will be sure that the floating reduction peak will occur right before you hit the ground.
If the fall is short enough that you will not be able to remove the required amount of speed to avoid damage in time, and you have stamina:
Do not let go of the wall you’re grabbing onto. This is less stamina efficient in floating reduction, but more time and space efficient.
If you run out of stamina in this state, you will stop losing floating and start gaining it, so be mindful of this risk.

I'd say the only thing that needs fixing is that, if the answer is no to any of those you likely don't have enough stamina to repeatedly grab and let go on the fall down, to optimize it further only do it when halfway down and nearing the bottom of the wall. If you're falling too fast you can try again but it takes a lot of stamina out of you. And using that method with no stamina can lead to a big pain spike

Why is it better to reduce floating at the end of a fall not the start of one? I’d think you may as well use any stam you have to reduce your fall speed at the start of the fall, because there’s no difference between running out in the first half and the second half - you reduce the same amount of floating either way
