So the things in black at the bottom are kinda funny. The one on the left is IBS, which means he has a small chance of pooping on everything around him and poisoning units that get pooped on. The one on the right is Incontinence, which means he pees every time he takes damage and creates "water" tiles around him.

The abilities above those are his class passives. The one on the left is called Duct Tape, which means he can't unequip his weapons unless they break. The other is called V2.0, which lets him start off with better tech while also preventing his tech from going below 0. The more tech he has, the better weapons he can build.

Yeah, your cats can be born with all kinds of oddities. I've had a few cats with Down's Syndrome, a lot of Neurofibromatosis, and a few with a cleft palate. Mostly because their family tree is a wreath, but they can also be gotten with random events. Other ones you can get are Distemper, IBS, OCD, ADHD, Paranoia, and even Gigachad. Yes, being a Gigachad is a disorder in this game. It makes you dumber, but more charming.

But I don't think every trait is beneficial or detrimental

For example, in other roguelikes, there are traits like... Bo... And it doesn't do anything, just... Smell

No, they're not really either. Some are better than others, sure, but the thing is you're supposed to play around them. So a Gigachad cat might be dumb, but his high charisma means he has a bigger mana pool. So he can cast hella spells with the right setup.
