I mean lets say the normal calorie amount you should be eating per day was 2000, you're on a calorie deficit of 1500kcal per day and you take a cheat day where you eat 2000kcal or more you'll most of the time still be in calorie defecit regardless of the cheat day so it doesnt matter as much

I should've explained past that. The Yo-Yo effect is when that "cheat day" is never actually a day. It's the beginning of another cycle of unhealthy eating. This happens over the course of weeks or months. They'll be unhappy with their weight, go on a diet that only reduces water weight causing emotional imbalances and no real visible changes, which leads to them giving up, and eventually starting again.
