Whenever I play with my American friends, they always identify me by the "british hat". To then take that away when things are already going badly for me in my country is simply pouring salt on the wound. 🧂

Please, consider reverting things to how they were - there's a nonzero chance this action had racist motivations, at least that's the way it's felt to me.

Rope cannons and antirope count. A cannon is 5 meters. That helped me a lot.
Speedrunning was pretty easy for me, but it came with a great map. I recommend spending a couple runs learning a route and how you can optimize it with tools, and then blitzing it as fast as possible. Drink EVERY energy drink you come across, but don't waste too much time finding loot

Mesa is definitely not ideal for speedrunning. The map with the silver shore yesterday was over all a fantastic mountain though. If you put an attempt into it I have no doubt you would've gotten it.
That being said, I actually think the Mesa is easier than Alpines. Maybe speed can be achieved with more time spent learning the generation.

Heat is half rng half advanced route planning. If you can set yourself up to go through the Mesa at night or just get lucky with items, you can speed right through it.
