➑️ Explanation:

This request is a little more general and simple, but I think it would be something positive to work on in the modpack.

From the many times I have played this or other modpacks, there is something I notice almost every time: it is often necessary to change or reorganize the hotkeys. This happens because there are repeated keys, shortcuts that do not work properly due to overlaps, or simply because some are not even properly configured, among other reasons.

In this modpack, it seems to me that there has already been an attempt to define some default keys, however there are still many repetitions and shortcuts that, in practice, are not really necessary.

Therefore, the request is to work on improving the configuration of the default keyboard shortcuts, so that it adapts to most players' needs and keyboards, and comes already properly organized and functional.

Some suggestions:

  • Keys that only serve to open configuration menus, mod settings, or similar options are not strictly necessary, since these options are already accessible through the mod menu. Removing these shortcuts helps free up key slots.

  • There are mods that offer dedicated keys for specific functions and, at the same time, a key to open a menu that centralizes all these functions. In these cases, I suggest keeping only the menu key, so that the player does not need to memorize several combinations and everything is concentrated in one place. In addition, it frees up space for other shortcuts. An example of this is the Wand mod, where most shortcuts can be removed, keeping only the menu shortcut.

  • You can also remove keyboard shortcuts that don't make much sense, are rarely used, or can be easily accessed through graphical interfaces during gameplay. A cleanup of this kind would facilitate the overall organization of the controls and make room for the addition of shortcuts that are really important or necessary.

  • Mods where it really makes sense to have quick shortcuts are, for example, minimaps. Below is a configuration that I personally use and find practical:

Works on Xaero and JourneyMap

Preset 1 or Preset 2

  • Numpad 9 or PgUp β€” Zoom In
  • Numpad 3 or PgDown β€” Zoom Out
  • Numpad 7 or Insert β€” Expand/Collapse Map on HUD (Toggle Mode)
  • Numpad 4 or , β€” Show/Hide minimap (Toggle Mode)
  • Numpad 5 or Home β€” Create Waypoint
  • Numpad 2 or End β€” Waypoint Manager
  • Numpad 1 or Delete β€” Show/Hide Waypoints in the world (Toggle Mode)
  • Numpad 0 or M β€” Open/Close full screen map (Toggle Mode)

It should be noted that everything related to a mod will be centralized in a specific spot on the keyboard.

These two sets of keys correspond to two different keyboards that I used and found comfortable. Still, an alternative preset could also be created for keys located to the left of ENTER.

=============================

In addition, there are mod features that I believe players use frequently and that they have probably created dedicated shortcuts for. For example, here are two of the shortcuts I use quite often:

  • A shortcut for Inventory Auto Sorting (I personally like to use the R key);
  • A shortcut to enable/disable shaders (I use F9, keeping the rest of the shader mod shortcuts disabled).

Finally, as an extra, it would be interesting to gather opinions from the community about:

  • Possible useful key combinations;
  • Keys that are not very useful
  • Or Keys that could accumulate several features without conflicting with other mods β€” something that, unfortunately, does not always work well when two actions share the same key.

while this is made in good faith this seems pretty preference based to your personal needs, almost everyone changes their keybinds to what they like so i doubt changing the presets now will make any lasting difference

I was just giving examples, because my biggest problem and the reason I am making this suggestion is the number of repeated, unnecessary, and non-functional shortcuts that usually exist.

Even if some kind of β€œpreset” is not implemented, it might be a good idea to at least clean up the shortcuts that don't make sense, by being as minimalist and basic as possible, covering the general needs of most people without having to rack your brains checking which repeated shortcuts you can or should not remove.

Large amounts of player have 60% or other % keyboards, using numpad is not an option for then and im ngl everyone changes their keybinds

#

No reason for presets when people done use em

I think there's a handful of keybind options that exist that could be reevaluated for defaults, at least disabling some stuff that really don't need to be there like configuration menus and such if they're conflicting with other things. I can take a peek at them and see if there's a few that can be moved/removed while respecting 60% boards like alm mentioned
