#Yet another 5020 toolhead (Clogged hole/AMOGUSBURNER)
1 messages ยท Page 3 of 1
good to know, i'll annoy him with it. but i'm starting to get a hang of it and want to learn
You can always ask chatgpt
brother that looks mad good
simulating this will be a real challenge huh
just preparing it to be simulatable is head spinning
airshaper <3
ah yes
don't they have a free tier?
currenlty looking with simscale, and if i can't get what i want with the free stuff i'll try openfoam
i think they have a free demo
also i think that it's a bit overkill for what i need it to do
hm so with burner emails i can get basically unlimited simscale sims
amogus
the design give stag beetle vibes XD
i didnt see is this the design for the default fan or you gave up trying to salvage yours and its for another fan?
Oh yeah it's dead dead
And I'm not paying for a oversized fan
Wide mouth 5015 like most other printers
So really really cheap and also lighter fans
i should be concerned... you're not the first person saying that
5020 one was truck cab now this is amogus
bruh
so i clearly need to improve the splitting cause there is still wayy too much on the left side (image is from the back) and also aim down a bit further
also i should reduce the intake size for the next sim
๐ and dont forget a carto mount ๐
i can guarantee you that i might look into doing that if you provide me the links for the carto and how it should be ideally mounted xD
still not there
it's already better but gotta work on asymetry
also idk why but the particle trace doesn't go all the way
yeaap not ideal
ahem shit. that's from the a4t github
btw i kinda treat this as a todo list as i have goldfish memory capacity
move ducts forwards a bit more, inlcude test with part
@noble mesa what's your opinion on a backflow inhibitor?
also smaller duct outlets maybe. but i'd need the actual fan to know what outlet size is optimal
3rd duct, let's see if the sim is generous now
just copy voron bro
with their stealthburner
cant perfect perfection friend
it's a perfect pain in the ass yeah
as a proud 2.4 owner me so proud
now testing with part to cool
stealth is heavy and the airstream is shit!
no
what the fuck is wrong with people
Back then, I converted my Ender 3 to use a StealthBurner.... I'm familiar with it and its quirks.
i love vorontards
you mean shortcomings....
it looks like someone was too stupid to model smooth shapes and resorted to low poly, i know it's on purpose and probably more work than smooth shapes. but whyyyy
i don't like the only good thing it has going for it
voron style ๐
he had only stls
and those were low res
Youโll always find these angles and this design in Voronโs products. Whether itโs printers, accessories or anything else...
stealthburner
ah yeah the typical pro gamer look
๐คฎ
I wrote poor voron engineers at the end but my Internet died thanks germany

Ok sorry
got an idea what to put on the front face?
no elegoo logo ... COSMOS! whate else?
American fridges circa 1960s
oh good idea
dickbutt
u can print it in blue, yellow, black or any other color gggggggggggg
But if we make it we have to use red fillament
Cpaps you dick
if you add support for the stupid magnet thingy that's in the new toolhead cover for the CANVAS, sure
it's already got a blower fan
I'm cpaping it rn
i think double siding the magnet to the back of the fan should work, there isn't much room
does it basically sit flush with the back of the fan?
yeah
hmmmm i'm not sure that it fits
mm
then the new extruder also won't fit
(cuz it has a PCB on the front to detect runout)
how much does it stick out?
Does that mean that all existing toolhead covers won't fit ?
you probably need to get a cc2 one

and donโt forget the Constellation Extruder
oh yeah that's 10000% compatible
pffffffffff... Did you forget your beer? ๐
waits faster
5020 Blower, 4 Pin ...
i know ... fuck elegoo
eh idk, the cooling performance of the cc talks for itself. it's quite impressive
elegoo is asking for โฌ16 plus delivery costs for it. All in all, it comes to nearly โฌ25 and youโll have to wait two weeks.
My fan keeps cutting out... but I think I've found the fault now. It's just that odd connector on the toolhead
The fan does the job well. Itโs not quiet, but itโs effective. But the fan is an Elgoo model (not a standard fan) and the connection between the tool head and the circuit boardโฆ that little plug/socketโฆ sorry.
ran out of alcohol
perfection
com'on ... not a horse g
Pls add hexagons
Will you release step files
i'll make the step available, then you can do whatever you want
?
Honse out of hexagons
tbw if you want me to include some face modifiers just send them my way and i'll add them to the model, or do a remix if you want
just COSMOS !
I'm joking bro
@vernal harbor would you be willing to make a icon type version of the cosmos logo you did? in svg? ๐ฅบ ๐ ๐
this woudl be cool in general, but also idk a reduced version that would not have fine details so it can be printed easily
Ill have a mess around and see what I can do for you
If you like... you can also send me the file and I'll convert it to SVG.
my main concern is to have the line be at least 0.4mm wide on the toolhead, which would either mean cutting most of the logo out, or scaling the line up to be thick enough
the workable area is about 50x30mm
this line ๐
quick and dirty drawing .... without beer g
that's a bold assumption
about that, gonna fix this
brb
@green berry PARTYTIME! @clever charm goes to get a beer ๐ป๐ป๐ป๐ป๐ป๐ป๐ป
Currently in bed sorry
Here's your approximation ig
๐ซ
inching closer
thank you, that is never ever ever gonna fit
welp need to push the ducts back a bit but that's getting pretty even now
put them on diagonal
from what i've researched, directly opposing ducts are really good too
you want to cool part not nozzle
if u combine the airstreams directly you get turbulence on nozzle
you want air to blow over part and away
ah k, like get a vortex that spares the nozzle
doing that in the internal duct should be fine right?
blowers have enough pressure to overcome ducts
just do not do 45 deg bends
like keep them as smooth as possible
that's the ducts as simulated
you are simulating smooth ducts
your printed ones won't be smooth

show inside here
maybe close enough to at least tell me if i'm pushing the air out the wrong nozzle xD
you are designing an air duct not a car
you are okey
that's one sharp thingy
yeah make it a bit round
2mm fillet?
for the angeling of the airflow, i can keep the duct outlets the same and just change the shape before right?
would make this a lot easier
just wanna learn
i can't print and research cause my cc got no fans
you have aux fan
what should i test a duct for that i cant even blow air through
now tell me how i should imiate a 5015 blower fan with my lips and then come again xD
doubt i can get a somewhat tight seal in there
you are testing flow not power
๐
otherwise get some 20k sunons
and call it a day
do you think your fan is sealed?
the point is not to have a quick fix, but to actually make a good part cooling setup, without resorting to mad power
lmao
just tried it btw, i can't feel anything coming out of the ducts
if I show you what takes to design a perfect air duct
you are gonna call me insane
so in the meantime don't
probably won't, and i know that i'm very far from perfect
also printing the duct breaks any smooth air inside
๐
we just pray that fan pressure is enough to overcome those
then you should also check for tightness of the print
especially if 2 walls thin print
doubt i will be getting near pressures where that's an issue
specially not on the cheapest 5015 fan i could find
if u do a 90 deg bend I wish you are gonna see
that's why u should limit to 45 maybe 60
bends
well i try to limit the bend as much as i can, but don't think that i can make it any straighter than it currently is without some major sacrifices
again just try your best
and print a lot of tests
you can test flow with a glass of water under nozzle
you want air to hit under nozzle not on nozzle
woudl you be willing to do that?
no, cause you don't have the apps

the math is over my paygrade, I just know how to use the apps and common logic
your worst enemy is 3d printed duct
not the path itself
you can check that with a texture over the duct
and resimulate
will try that if simcale allows it.
on low airflow it doesn't matter
but on 12-20k rpm fans
you will hear the difference
we used to vapor smooth abs for those
I think you have wall roughness
setting
also what model are u using?
if I am not wrong 0.5mm roughness should be a good setting to test
incompressible - k-omega SST if that's what you mean
those are the models availble i think
the defaults
ok so just finest
not finest
but more fine
what settings do you get for automatic boundary
or that isn't a drop down?
they absolutely are, thank you !
mind to join me in vc?
bruh that's gonna be super annoying to select the right faces... fml
maybe i'm missing something, but wall should be in bc's right?
well u can try without wall setting
also yes
boundary conditions
just tried selecting stuff and it's quite easy
there should be smth calle wall roughness setting
those are the settings
seems like it
custom option?
maybe in there?
yep it is
no slip
like default units?
0.0005 m if no other option
S.I
that should be 0.5mm
ok so that probably should be closer to 1
ahhh
prolly
shouldn't influence that much
that's why I went with 0.5
0.5mm
0.5mm would be worse case
i think worst case is a really good starting point
now send it
it has one, for the sim i just have the fan fused to it to make it simpler
ah oky dokye
also what fan inlet size should i go for?
should i aim for not having any air escape the fan?
or is a bit acceptable to have less restriction
idk if that's normal, but when doing particle trace i need to place the origin inside the duct or else i don't get the traces to go out
i take it that this means normal?
anna ouija board vibes
ffs
fuck you
also thank you a lot
but still fuck you
have you done cfd on acctc?
nope, not at all. want me to do so?
ig it would also apply for gamma
yeah that would be great if you can. You doing this in fusion or what?
nope, simscale. got 10 sims for free
now prepping my 4th
would you be willing to prep the cad? it's quite a long procedure and i got it all setup in the timeline for the 5015 fan. idk how i'm gonna call it
I can but can't do it for a few days prob. I might actually do it in fusion or comsol or fusion since I have unlimited credits. was it that hard to pick up simscale?
not at all. watched a tutorial for an impeller pump and i'd say that i had a sim up and running within an hour or so (once the model was prepped). Most stuff that i need to touch is pretty self explanatory, and the stuff that isn't as much atom has explained it here
cool once I learn if you need cfd I can prob run on my end once you run out of money
free FEA and all fusion extensions. Almost makes up for the 30% pay cut you take to work in academia
wanted to look into running it locally too, but idk if i'm ready for the headache
sounds painful
about that, i've been accepted for my studies and am gonna have a whole suite of cad to play with
holy fuck how old are you
is this undergrad
๐
well less old than you ๐คฃ since i already told you xD
I'm old man I dont remember
Oh but youare an adult ok cool
yes you will prob get free software
deff free fusion with all extensions, though autodesks website kinda sucks for that
depends on your institution which other ones you get.
i think i'll get solidworks and catia, don't quite remember what software we are gonna be using
Yale: fuckloads of good software
Backwoods, west virginia christian college: good luck
you will get more than that
you have to trawl the instutions website and software portal
but usually there is a ton of shit that is accessible but not like broadcast
hello kiddo ๐๐ป
shouldn't you be asleep?
I need to assemble those myself
cause the author had the briliant idea of not doing a damn ams print cause what's printing and gluing 30 1mm parts
like bro
is there even clearance?
and I've already print one like the guy intended
but it doesn't fit well
it is either too loose or too tight
yes the white part doesn't fit into the black one

that's where I gave up 2 months ago
on printing this
it barely holds itself upright
it's sad that i was able to tell from the screenshot
good luck
so now I am trying to assemble some
like eyes
hat
body
feet
and glue those instead of everything
do we know a good stl assembler?

have never tried it but apparently meshmixer is good
orca has smth
but works awfully
especially for organic prints
done with fucking ai
or whatever
like
and I have to manually move bit by bit until it fils the hole
and also adjust size
i should really try that. looks cool
you can fix face to face and point to point
if the shapes are okey
like circle, square face
it is easy
if u get smth like mine nope
so tl;dr don't print shit
yeah well at this point
remaking entire model from scratch would take same time
and I need to print like 2-3-4 pieces
so not worth my time
so quick hack
yes, yes he should
good night
fusion on linux is really funny
lol yeah
which desktop environment is that?
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pq0Anj9pKkc
i dont quite understand why he makes 2.0 when this exists

Gnome no?
Yeah it's gnome
A bit bloaty but I really enjoy it
I mean if he makes better cooling ducts I get the point
Not to bash on bacon but there is a possibility that his toolhead will have the best cooling performance
that looks quite good with my untrained eyes
maybe narrow down the duct on the right side to curb the turbulence
and got a small vortex just at the nozzle
also that looks like an issue
i think i should put the flow splitter a lot lower and have the duct a lot noarrower from the get go
thank you
@green berry what do you think about this?
would be nice to have a tool that can show you cross section along a path of a surface
also offset the outlets a bit to help the air not go straight down
5/7
you get me a bottle of alcohol
and fix my bmcu
1 slot died
and I am at work
and print has 6 more hours
๐คก
what kind?
i have some pretty nice wine locally
whatever kills me faster
i got some 97% burning alcohol for cleaning my printbed if you want
and also some not denatured high proof alc
Would it do something to move the fan closer and make the ducts shorter
I know it's a packaging issue but just curious
i think bacon atom and i agree that longer and smoother ducts are better than short ones
Why
sharp direction changes create a lot of turbulance
best example that comes to mind rn is rear view mirrors, when you drive at speed you can hear how fucking loud and violent that turbulence is
basically you want all your energy going into making the air fast at the print, not making it spin inside the ducts/making noise/heating up
me neither
And haven't researched it
yet*
But my reasoning is long ducts less airflow so less power
But there are more factors which I haven't perhaps considered
like here is a good example, there is a sharp direction change and moreover the duct is too wide. so instead of speeding up, the air spins and looses energy*
the further i go, the less i understand the concept of wide mouth blower fans
newest ducts are pointing down a lot more aggressively
Wouldn't it make more sense to move the split to the right ?
Since the turbulences
Or are those not avoidable
i put the split where i get about 50/50 for the split duct
I think your cooling looks a lot like the Eva 3
https://pkucmus.github.io/EVA/ you mean liks this? not really alike but the concept is the same, really long duct with broad smooth curves
Yep
that toolhead looks like it would have amazing com
I mean most have a little mouth
Atleast on 5015s
yeah true, but i don't dont think that there are many small mouth pwm 5015
nevermind there are, but at that price point might as well get a 5020
Would it be bad to just close of a part of the fan?
It seems like it's sucking the air back in if I'm not wrong
don't think so, it's what the a4t does
Section Analysis in fusion?
yeah that would be a very clunky way of doing so, but i'd need to create a ton of sketches to do that too
ideally i have a graph the gives me the cross section as a function of the distance along the centerline of the form
True
wdym true
He is
for all we know he is a drunk mosterized racoon
Master Yoda if he was a racoon
i do, apart for belt tension
what helps is that bacon agrees with me so i feel not completey stupid
I will design the worst toolhead
Just to make yours better
You don't know what steps I will take to make that happen
A 3x 4010 setup
that's the latest one
eh good luck on that, the bar is already very low
Yk what
the bar is underground
at least 4010 have a huge advantage
inertia
tho with orca you can kinda cheat that with speed up and kick start times
The cons don't matter if it's only for bencies
@green berry what would you grade this?
Eva 3/10
bruh i can't do that now xD
You want monster?
always
can someone test the new hx711 driver fix?
it pisses me off
install this and do mesh 5 times
in a row
and also remove trsync hack
see if it errors
โค๏ธ
gonna run another sim
@green berry i can test ist ๐ trsync hack????
Not trsync
Trsync seems to work
We have a new driver
For hx711
Hmm... I've currently got Cosmos 0.0.4 installed and have now run the mesh levelling process four times in advance without any issues. It's really strange how much user errors can vary.
I've been printing quite a lot recently and I'm using adaptive meshing before every print and I haven't had a failure since like 0.0.2 ๐คท
5020 is typically worse than 5015 because the RPM is usually lower. unless you are elegoo and just crank rpm to an unreasonable speed that prob wont last long
makes sense.. larger diameter >>>> longer depth
like I still maintain that trying to dissipate 12W or 15 in the case of CC2 right around the bearings of a 5020 fan hub is a bad plan
wdym? the high powered fan approach?
could that be why my 5020 died?
yeah I mean elegoo cracked the fan speed so high, too high IMO. like 5020s should not have the central spindle just crack like we have seen on some posts on reddit. means there is too much vibration and/or heat
main thing that kills fans is not the electronics its actually the bearings experiencing stress at high temps. so you start doing half an amp or more at 24v on those coils right around that bearing and bad things start happening.
and of course I highly doubt elegoo sprung for higher quality appropriately specced grease in those bearings
like you probably want a thicker grease than usual given the high temperatures they will be running at
think i still need to flatten the ducts a bit to avoid those eddies but hot damn that's a better
@green berry would it be a good idea to reduce the outlet sizes a bit more?
each outlet is 35mm^2
looking at this i also need to reduce the intake thickness
Yes
dumb question but this should work the stock hotend (and their lookalikes including the FlowTech hotend)?
in the pictures we can assume yes
and videos
Yeah it should support flowtech, and constellation. Idk about other mods, but I'm really not fond of those so I didn't bither
Sweet thanks for the info. I'm gonna look into printing this soon since I already cracked my stock shroud
it's not perfect, but for the sake of my sanity i'll keep it there
ok nevermind
i want it to be better
it never stops
At least for now

Still tempted to do a small shape refinement while I work on other stuff and see what's better
Seems like there really only are small tweaks left to do
thats ocd bro
idk that's not amazing
the combined duct is too narrow and has a bump that causes issues
the rest is good
i meannn since your 3d printing it there will be other issues also
that seems like an relatively easy fix tho
if its only that
yeah that's why i'm willing to do it, not eve sure if an additionnal sim is necessary
i would still do it for the extra dopamine
might just do it cause i have the process streamlined and it doesn't take more than 5 mins to setup now
and also flex. i shat on someone for making a custom duct that was causing me thermal runaway issues and told him to do cfd. so i want to show those results on printables to back up my shit oning
and also you can flex with it on your cv
dw i do xD. my cello has probably gotten me my studies for next year. and also has opened a lot of doors for me. this will look nice next to it
also doing projects cause people that you have high regards of say that it's impossible just to prove them wrong is very satisfyinh
weight reduction in a non floppy way
fillet hell
yes
wanna guess how many fillets operations there are?
46
counted them myself
in my defense it looks a lot less bad without the edges
5 xd
i should add a big fillet on the front face
even though this really doesn't look amazing it will help a lot with stiffness
porno
nah this looks like shit
ok i'll make it more smooth, just to avoid a stress concentration
much better
i think 0.08mm layer heights will be a must
i expected way worse, with correct cooling settings this should be quite ok
also this will be by far the lightest toolhead cover
5020 bigly heavy?
make overhangs printables
set to 80deg
what did you change tho
gonna play around with different settings but this seems promising
also ignore the lip, gotta fix that
rounded the corners that are at the carriage
also
spite is the best fuel
sprite*
this is beautiful
i made a pretty annoying mistake in the beginning...
ngl I might be switching to this
buying an elegoo
i assumed that the constellation extruder would have the same placement for the 3010 fan, but it doesn't. it's further out front, thus the weird cutout
if you do that, would you be willing to make a cooling shuriken with gamma, stock and the 5015 (whatever it's gonna be called)?
would love to have a real life comparison
i wish i'm gonna reach this some time in the future, but not there yet
oh wait
soak q tip in acetone, put in a printed plug, insert into interior of duct
internal vapor smoothing
oh was planning to print it out of paht-cf
honestly I might make a mod of this to bring the gamma magnetic coupling into this design
why paht
kinematic mount when?
then it would be a fully incestious circle between our toolheads
cause stiffness, also i'll anneal it first
why do you need paht for a duct
lmao
or pet gf annealed
PPS BITCHESSSS
i can't brag about it being the lightest toolhead just to throw the densest filament i own at it
https://www.amazon.com/YXPOLYER-Filament-Resistance-Engineering-Grade-Printier/dp/B0BJV3932F?psc=1 56/kg
YXPOLYER ABS-ESD 3D engineering printer Filament ABS-ESD is an high dissipative and antistatic modified ABS printing consumable, with excellent electrostatic resistance performance, resistivity 10^6 to 10^9 ฮฉ/m, so it can prevent from damaging electronic equipment or significantly reduce the risk...

I need eli5 cause I aint reading that
sry will be a bit thesis season has been brutal
Me after I threw my 5060ti16gb in my pc for Ai stuff

That 32gb vramussy
the poor top gpu
rule 34 taking notes
I'm on way too many comittees after one of our faculty members kicked the bucket and he had 3 thesis students using a technique that now I am now the only person at our instition that knows anything about
Is that 24 pin fully seated? ๐
I know someone that had same problem here
Nah it's fine. Heatsink is HUGE and for Ai work loads it's limited to whatever the 5060ti can do + overhead
you skipping over the 2 gpu's?
It stays quite cool
its real pps, of course unfilled so its not gonna behave and anneal as well as pps-cf
well we knew gpu was expensive already
but ram
that's hot baby
Cableclip
uh
kinda seems like it's going down
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite also found this is the stabilizer all the ABS and PPSes are using
Tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite is an organophosphorus compound with the formula [(C4H9)2C6H3O]3P. This white solid is a widely used stabilizer in polymers where it functions as a secondary antioxidant. It also reduces discoloration (yellowing) of plastics. The compound is a phosphite ester formed by the reaction of 2,4-di-tert-butylphen...
(bottom is switched to a 5070ti now)
ew aio
Oh yeah I see it now ๐
I truly felt very baller looking at the rig
it's a cheap evga aio I got for 40eur xd
btw my asa heatsink bracket hasn't crept one bit yet
a good aircooler will do the same or even wipe the floor with that aio
64 jigglebytes(of ddr4)
true, but I wasn't able to get a good aircooler for 40eur xd
also, technically both are air heaters
silver lining, he was the one difficult person I had to deal with (at least the most difficult one) so silver linings I guess? I am a terrible person
Both the ram and the extra 5060ti I had are pure "ADHD impulsive action that the executives never cared to fix"the top card is a 5070ti
my 5070ti is for my solidworks VM xd
solidworks needs a decent GPU for the rendering stuff and it must be nvidia cuz everything else just doesn't have support
Holy
40xx and 50xx cards also get faster denoising with the ai bs
(still raytraces at the full resolution, just needs less samples to look good)

Compacted bowel?
no
I think my top choises are
"converted to a fine red mist" and "cremated and ashes poured into my PhD advisor's gas tank"
possible if you are unlucky enough
ok so this might make the ducts printable
it's very scuffed
ok now were going places
a tiny bit more snip snip and then it's good
so all those fusion shitpost youtube shorts actually taught me something
Time for you to make those shorts lol
atom asked for it. more fillets
@vernal harbor thank you, love this!
This is pretty cool
god no
too late there is no going back now
first thing I thought
lol who were the others
like people say stealthburner looks like amogus
eigenwert and someone on the elegoo server
btw don't ctrl+f amogus
pls rename the 5015 version amogusburner
Yet another 5020 toolhead (Clogged hole/AMOGUSBURNER)
that's an abuse of power
true but it's kinda funny
reducing the sim to the minimum necessary really speeds stuff up
do i even still have a say in the name or has that ship sailed?
lol of course you do
but I may still call it that ocassionally
mhmmmm like every time you reference it ?
btw i really haven't decided or even thought about a name
lulz nah
so if i don't find anything it might be
but I will keep that pin because its really funny
name it AADFD
an actually decent fan duct
well it might be utter shit. only real testing will tell xD
well it will be better than the elegoo ducts for sure
honestly I'm not sure what se3d is working on v2
oh ffs
at least his teaser looked very similar to the original
i'm not confident enough at all in aeordynamics to tell you this xD
you can see that in how much the duct has evolved with the simulations
ngl a donkey with a mouse duct taped to its tail could do a better job than elegoo
so that's a big improvement
that's the turbulent kinetic energy
idk if that link works gl
impressive and smooth increase in velocity
I'm glad I have some of these wide mouth 5015s already will print when you release
yeah i think that's as far as i'm gonna reasonably go. that was really really really interesting
yeah i'm still waiting to recieve mine and will repeat the same downforce testing with the different ducts i printed before
you should post this on subreddit, get your free spools
also this is the first viable solution to a nonelegoo fan. sure 2 pin fans are now an option, but without mosfet thats annoying even on cosmos, and bambu fans are widely available
i'm terrible at social media, but i will kick myself until i do it
you just gotta be an alcohlic
that's the secret
๐
would you be willing to do some shuriken test with it? would be fun if this outperforms the 5020 fanmods out there
i would have liked to do one myself, but the sole reason i even went down this rabbithole is cause my fan is dead
TODO:
Pegs for back bumper to slot in
Hull line relief
intake duct testing prototype
check COM if full back panel not better
eventaully redo outside duct shape since ducts smaller
