#DIY dipole antenna and door spacer

Basics for 2.4g dipole antenna construction. I found it roughly doubles the number of Wifi networs I detect with max signal strength and it significantly increases camera frame rate.

**pic 1: **Parts needed. flush cutters, lighter, heatshrink tubing, solid core wire (guage doesnt matter much but should be stiff), old sma antenna from a laptop or the oem CC antenna, solder and soldering iron
pic 2: Desolder the SMA connector from the stock film antenna, scrape or burn off enamel on the copper wire and tin with solder

pic3: solder inner line of the SMA coax cable to one of the copper wires.

pic4: heatsjrink around soldered joint to insulate

pic5: solder second wire to outside of coax sma connector

pic6: heatshrink outside

pic7: bend poles apart tightly with pliers or similar 90 degrees

pic8: measure 30.5mm (quarter wave length) from the bend point and cut each side to length.

this is a modified door spacer with an internal holder for the longer antenna. needs a heatset insert for the hinge mount. this version also has a small rotating lock to keep the door secure when working on the bottom of the printer but you could always exclude the hole for that heatset if you dont want it.
