#turn light on during a print
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it can pretty easily be fixed but there's a lot of issues with getting to use that fix
First of all, we can't compile the main app yet
Second, Elegoo offers no way to run custom apps
Third, the source code they've given is not 1:1 with their actual release binary, so stuff may be really jank
(I guess binary patching is your best bet)
saw someone saying on facebook that an older firmware didn't do this, is there any way to downgrade? (currently on .29)
of course it isnt lmao

I believe you just need to rename the .25 FW to update.bin
I'm on .25 and not having this issue
If you have homeassistant, install the elegoo addon and then you'd be able to check for print start, and auto turn the light on
The home assistant addon isn't working for me, but i think it's due to my weird network config
I'll set up proper vlans later right now i have it on its own router with ports 80, 3030, 3031 forwarded out and everything else blocked
When i get home I'll try this tho thanks
I guess i could try .42 as well since apparently the changelog says it fixes webui abnormalities
Splendid
I always thought toggling the light mid way was blocked because I was using time-lapse and they were stopping you from ruining the video...
Huh
My time lapses already don't have the light on lol
i always forget to turn it on before starting a print, that's why i find it annoying
It lets you start a time lapse without the light?? Maybe its because I got the model that comes with the LED bar
Oh huh it does
Never realized
Yeah i have the bar as well
Always assumed it forced the light on if you chose timelapse
Timelpase options would be great. Doesn't take enough pictures imo
For how small they are you could really up the amount
Hello everyone. I also had firmware 1.1.42, updated to 1.1.29 via update.bin. Now it hangs on the logo. Maybe someone has firmware for FEL mode?
which logo?
that's also scary as FEL isn't the easiest to access
and only 1 person has any real experience with it here
hm, that's not good
yeah you'd either have to desolder your emmc or access it via FEL (although unsure if pd got any headway into accessing emmc via FEL)
I connect the printer via fel. I only need the firmware in .img format.
you mean like an entire emmc backup essentially
i haven't looked into what fel can do but can you read the emmc from FEL? Like create your own .img?
If so, you can flip the A/B partitioning back to 1.1.42
i've never actually looked at if machines have unique calibrations
we do have emmc dumps worst case
through fel I can only see the printer. I can't create my own img. Can you send me a dump? to load through fel mode
@lusty hatch and @fathom furnace have made images, want the ok first from either of them before i send you an emmc dump
I could send mine too but mine is modified with custom firmware and analysis tools
I will wait.
from this link, I took the instructions for connecting to the printer.fel mode
https://opencentauri.github.io/OpenCentauri/software/FEL-mode/
1.1.4 isn't that useful, but I can dump 25 as well. I don't care if you share it 🤣
if they did, how would they send out replacement boards
unless i guess theyre organized enough to save the calibration data from each printer that leaves the factory by serial number
i suppose you're right, yeah
the serial in the settings won't match then with the sticker on the back
but oh well
Or solder some wires to an SD adapter
Do you have an SD adapter, some very thin wire and decent solder skills?
yes, all of this is there😉
if i do this, should i power vcc seperately or can just power the printer and hold reset
You can follow the pinout on this page and solder the sd adapter to your mainboard. Be careful, the pads are very small and it's easy to damage your board.
If you have soldered your adapter to the board, make sure to hold/bridge the reset button so the cpu/soc doesnt try to read the emmc. If you can get the emmc to show up in linux, send me a dm, I'll send you the dump i made
I don't have such a shallow soldering iron. So it will be a little difficult to do it. Why can't the developers make a firmware for fel mode? Is there no spl for r528? I'm just a programmer and it's easier for me to program/compile than to solder very shallow parts.
@arctic depot still trying to hack this?
just found this thread
I was able to access FEL using the USB-C port, just had to fabricate a cable by snipping the VCC/Ground wires
it's mapped to the same pins as the header that isn't soldered on
Actually left Ground hooked up, just isolated VCC
works like a champ 😄
so if you have an old A to C cable you don't mind hacking up to make a magical FEL cable this should work!
I did a brain dump of getting FEL mode working with dram timings etc. using xfel here (has built-in config for r528-s3): https://discordapp.com/channels/1367538416539013122/1455912969287504026
