Augustus: Population 7018, Prosperity 100, Culture 100, Peace 100.
This is a modified version of the Corinthus map that allows Augustus Monuments. A lot of fun to try to squeeze everything in. I'm especially happy with how this map has no aqueducts, all fountains and baths are fed by two reservoirs and the Neptune Grand Temple. No space for aqueducts on a map this small!!! Sadly, i couldn't fit the Hippodrome. Maybe next time i play this map i'll try to squeeze it in somehow.

i see u have a 9x9 luxury palace block, how did u manage to fit services there? i would put roads everywhere but i feel that would confuse the walkers and risk them devolving due to the walkers getting lost and not delivering services
That luxury palace block is larger than 9x9 though. It looks like it’s 16x11
And one big loop with roadblocks, so walkers can’t escape from it
ah i bamboozled myself again with the math :) i meant 3x3 = 9 luxury palaces
That looks seriously cool
yep, fairbuy has it. The 3 palaces on the south-east side are on the exterior of the block. The road near the docks isn't used by the service walkers.
what about the center palace?
thats the thing, it isn't really in the center of the loop. The loop incircles 6 of the palaces in its interior, and 3 on the exterior (the three near the coast).
ooooooh i see :)
i thought having a loop around all of them would get the walkers inside confused
np! It was a fun block to construct in such a tight space. 9 palaces is a little low for a palace block for me, but its what I thought I could support in the space.
i think these would definitely be high risk of devolving :)
oh yeah, too many intersections. I've considered blocks like that, but it'd need very particular road blocks to let things into the loop and keep them from walking too far out of it.
a single loop is always easier to plan than anything with intersections
found that the hard-ish way :) imo intersections look nice, kinda sad the game doesnt support it
You can do it, especially with destination walkers that move from one building to another, like the chariots or actors, or with the Pantheon. You can get those to cover multiple blocks if you set them up properly, save a lot of employment.
and space for more houses.
Those techniques tend to function best in areas with lots of space, where you can plan multiple simulatenous blocks.
i see, thanks for the tip!
The new "preview walker paths" should help with intersections
still in unstable branch tho ? or is that in the latest stable alrdy?
Only on unstable
This is probably the most "realistic looking" city layout I've seen in Caesar 3 so far! I'm still learning and I hope my cities look as good and are as functional as yours one day!
ty!
@raw dagger Would you be willing to share your .svx file with us please? I'm fascinated by how you've achieved this. I can't get past building in reusable housing/services modules 😜
sure, here you go. I don't remember what version number i played this on, may or may not open right in augustus now. But have at it!
Thanks. Very good of you.
What's that pyramid-type building behind the senate? I'm running my own build from the latest source code and the latest assets but I can't get one of those.
