This is possibly a vanilla issue, but can you try reproducing it without any mods first?

Works fine without mods, but thing is, one of my friends has the same mods, and it works perfectly fine for him while it doesn't for me

If it works without mods, but does not without them, it would be a mod related problem

Best I can suggest is asking in #mod_support for mod specific issues, I can only help with issues in the vanilla game
