#Insane Zombies Everywhere?
40 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
We just started new server and theres tons of zombies everywhere. Last week there wasnt zombies like this, also they migrate like crazy
What zombie settings are you using exactly? Any changes from the default values?
Im using default, high, on dedicated. 40 day 1.5 peak. .75 start pop.
I can say there was a ton of Zs but I hoped it'd be like that. Me and another dude barely made it out of muld, partly because he didnt know when to run. I really enjoyed it and dont feel its broken lol.
As for the zombies moving a lot.... yeah noticed They were way more active than im used to which I also really loved. It kept us moving and scanning for a safe way to sneak by.
Honestly 10/10. The feeling of despair, im boned, only to make out by the skin of my teeth.
Well this explains it
I had my pop set to high, it felt like we were playing a tower defense game with large hoards constantly coming from across town to our melee hits.
We were trying to clear ONE house.
This would make sense if any of us even had a gun, but after 3 hours I had to lower the settings below normal and wipe zpop
Oh ok, this lines up but I will say they were moving like crazy and we weren't fighting.
I also did fight a horde outside a house. They were migrating and coming into us, but some walked right by. There were a bunch that followed us we had to fight and then the horde was just too big and we were tired.
When I get on tonight ill go admin and see if I replicate this too, because im not sure I had the same experience.
I see, so it's not that the pop is high, but that they are following you, this is a known bug as far as I am aware
ah. you know. They did track and follow us through an entire forest. I was amazed. Good to know thats a bug haha. certainly kept things interesting.
Has anyone tried to mess with turning off zombie migration or rally group sizes in sandbox settings and found that fixed it? It was incredibly difficult to play on a server with friends last night because of this issue.
I found the probable cause of the error:
I was using G1GC in the server settings, but I needed ZGC.
after the change everything went back to normal.
G1GC?
yeah "-XX:+UseG1GC",
I have the vanilla script that was pushed via steamcmd....
do you have a link to the wiki that says what should be changed?
So now you’re using “-XX:+UseZGC” and the laser-guided zombies are fixed?
ZGC is already the default though, why would anyone switch to G1GC
is there any chance you guys are using indifferent broccoli server host?
Nah I’m using gamehostbros and am still having this issue
driving me bonkers!!!!!!!!!!
heres a server console log for anyone if that's helpful
Yeah getting just constantly swarmed even when crouching around makes it really difficult to get anything going
I did a completely fresh install, deleting everything in /steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid and everything in /users/username/Zomboid, and played for a few hours in a locally hosted multiplayer game by myself, and experienced zero issues with weirdly migrating/wandering zombies.
However, as soon as I had friends join me, the problem reappeared. They are now fully reinstalling the game to see if that fixes it.
i don't want to speak too soon. but doing what mixu suggested seemed to have fixed the problem. i dont know how or why, but it did. i've been playing multiplayer for 3 hours now and the issue has not reproduced
normally the issue always comes back within 20 mins of a restart, its been hours. maybe just good luck or maybe that really did fix it
ProjectZomboid32.json was set to G1GC for me by default, if it matters
how are you hosting?
indifferent broccoli
Do you know if there's a way to change this without running a dedicated server?
just tried this. let's hope it works
i honestly have no clue 🙁
lemme know if it works out for you
MAYBE \steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid? im not sure if its the same
It does not, since you should never use that file in the first place, as its the 32 bit version of the server. All servers use the 64 bit version.
interesting, because the problem went away for me. Weird luck guess! Lmao
Anyone else have luck trying that whole G1GC thing change? Can see it shouldn't work but someone confirming it did, which is more than usual when looking around for a solution for this issue.
I did a find and replace all "G1GC" with "ZGC" in my game files (excluding compiled java) and it did not help. I think we just have to wait for a patch
The only other thing I can think to try is replacing the jre64 and projectzomboid.jar files with ones from someone who claims they don't have the problem
I'm thinking the G1GC vs ZGC was just a placebo effect for them.
After I reduced the pop some and change their hearing mine have been manageable.
Yeah it doesn’t work the dev that posted was correct the server uses the correct one by default as it uses the x64 folder setting so this has no effect.
