What issues are you running into? What action are you doing to cause the issue?

smoky quiver
#

Hey there. I had a post up on your website. I just posted logs.zip there. I dont know what action I am doing. I have just started the server and that shows up in the server starting log. Ill go get a screen shot.

#

Do you prefer to continue talking here or on the zomboid forum?

#

these are from the server computer

#

these are from the connecting computer

rocky brook
#

Preferably here, but your log shows ther server itself is running just fine

#

Just that install is wrong

smoky quiver
#

which install?

#

how do i fix it?

also thank you for your time and energy.

#

I reviewed the steps, and this is what I did to get to where I am. I installed steam cmd unzipped to c:/servers/steamcmd. I made a new folder in c:/servers and named it PZ. I opened steam cmd and did force install dir to c:/servers/pz. I logged in anonymously and ran app_update 380870 -beta unstable validate. After that installed, i commanded exit. Then I edited the server start 64 to make sure it had 16gbs ram allocated. I then started the server. My ports are open on my router and my inbound rules are set. When i run it I get the errors. I have tried deleting everything from the cservers folder and the users zomboid folder and reinstalling from scratch multiple times. Is there something Im missing?

What errors are you getting upon connection?

smoky quiver
#

server is not responding. I cant connect from either computer. With my public or private ip.

rocky brook
#

The log you shared shows you not using the SteamCMD install, though it could be an old log. Can you share the latest server-console.txt file from the server Zomboid folder?

smoky quiver
#

which computer do you want it from?

#

my server pc or my gaming pc?

#

this is the most recent from server pc

#

oh my b

#

wrong one hold on

#

where do i find that?

#

in this folder somewhere?

#

\

#

maybe this?

sturdy current
smoky quiver
#

can you help me do that please?

#

Will i be on my server pc trying to ping my gaming pc?

rocky brook
# smoky quiver \

This looks good, are you connecting from the same PC that is hosting the server, or from a secondary PC on your network?

smoky quiver
#

I have 2 computers on the same network. One will be hosting the server. I will game on the other one.

sturdy current
#

if you are connecting locally with no steam you will want your local IP address. Start trouble shooting by opening a command prompt and making sure ping the other computer probably like 192.168.x.x

smoky quiver
#

ok i will gather my ip and do a ping using a cmd prompt

rocky brook
smoky quiver
#

they are both private and my firewall is off on both pcs

rocky brook
#

Can you share a screenshot of the Local IP of the host PC and how you filled out the IP in your game? So I can make sure you are using the correct Local IP for the test

#

And are you able to join any public servers?

smoky quiver
#

i was able to join servers yesterday before i tried to do this. I havent tried again. I will start the server and try to log on on the server computer using local ip and send a screen shot

#

I will also attempt to join a public server and report baclk

#

looks like i was able to join locally this time. I dont know why. the errors are still persistent on the server screen

rocky brook
#

Most errors can be ignored unless they cause issues, its an unstable build

#

Meaning a lot of debug errors are kept

smoky quiver
#

ok now i just need to try to connect again from the other computer i guess using my public ip?

#

do i need to put my public IP anywhere in the server settings?

sturdy current
#

if you want to use no steam for some reason you should need your local ip and port. if you do use steam just find it in the list

smoky quiver
#

i think im using steam

#

ill try to find it in the list then. It will just be whatever i named it in the settings correct?

sturdy current
#

should be. it's case sensitive and check all the filters boxes at the top

smoky quiver
#

so i look for "ender"

sturdy current
#

Ender

smoky quiver
#

yea

#

my b

rocky brook
#

You can just join it by writing the IP manually in the join screen

#

Instead of waiting for the server list to catch up

smoky quiver
#

but its my local ip not the public one?

rocky brook
#

You use your public IP

smoky quiver
#

i have been using the public one and getting server not responding

#

imma try again with the case sensitive thing

rocky brook
#

If it works with the local one and not the public one, it means that the server itself works perfectly fine, but your ports are blocked

smoky quiver
#

ok ill double check the ports

#

networks are still private and firewall is still off

#

are these correct?

rocky brook
#

I suggest using single port openings rather than ranges

#

And only 16261 and 16262 UDP ports are needed

#

Ranges arent well supported on some routers, had cases where that blocked the server

smoky quiver
#

so open ports for 16261 and 16262 udp only?

rocky brook
#

Yes

smoky quiver
#

LIKE SO?

#

delete old rules and add new ones too?

sturdy current
#

if you left the ports the default that is all you should need

smoky quiver
#

ok

#

ill go try again

#

ill restart the router and both computers and give it a go

#

I still cannot connect from the other pc. I dont know why. Can these be a factor?

#

Also when I go to whatismyip.com my public ip is the same on both computers. Is this normal?

#

do i need to set the public ip somewhere in the server settings?

sturdy current
smoky quiver
#

like in this line?

sturdy current
#

have you tried the steam relay option to when connecting to see if that makes a difference

smoky quiver
#

no

#

is that just the option within the game?

#

i think i saw the box there

sturdy current
smoky quiver
#

also should i leave those upnp things enabled?

#

doing the steam relay thing now

#

same issue

rocky brook
#

Do you have a public IP assigned to you from your internet provider?

smoky quiver
#

how can i check?

rocky brook
#

Usually your IP would point to your house on the map

#

On the IP checker

sturdy current
#

in your router if you go to WAN is it the same

rocky brook
#

Or you can contact your internet provider

#

Yeah checking the WAN should also work

smoky quiver
#

this one is different

#

should i try the device ipv4 address?

#

idk if im doing it right

sturdy current
#

your public address is shared across multiple accounts, so you will have to contact your provider

smoky quiver
#

when i put my ip in it shows the address of the provider

#

ok so i have to ask them for my own public ip basically?

sturdy current
smoky quiver
#

im on the phone with them now

sturdy current
#

but not something you have the power to setup yourself in that situation

smoky quiver
#

thanks for all your help guys

#

any reviews or anything like that?

#

they said they are going to give me a static ip by close of business today

#

so ill just try again in a couple hours with that

smoky quiver
#

is this ticket public? should i delete all the things with my ip on it?

sturdy current
#

it sounds like its going to change soon anyway but not a bad idea

#

restart the router if the internet stops working at some point

smoky quiver
#

will do

smoky quiver
#

it works
