#42.12.0 Unstable Released
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
oh my gosh these break now?
yes
doomed
yeah ur cooked now lil bro
thats only stage 1 of breaking
the zombies are coming for you
they have 3 stages where they first climb over it than they totally break it down and flood in
yea I have seen it happen with normal chainlinks but not these

it's how I was grinding firearms on my last save.
wanted to test to see if the zombies pushed under the fence when they slid under the barricade like they did in 42.10 - but little to my surprise they busted it down lol
"busted it down", you say?
zombies can dance now?
Almost to the 1 year anniversary of build 42.
already in game
he literally posted a picture of him seeing it happen
December 17th not quite here yet, but everyone hopes it was
In fact the normal chain link has been breakable since 42.6
Guess I missed it when I was reading 32.12 changes 😅
terrifying
I do think these ones need to be stronger though
and interesting that these ones are currently not apart of the change and I figured they would be but not the ones above
I wonder if prison fences are destructble to zombies.
I can check
they are the same as the ones above
so they would not be able to break them down
military base near rosewood could also test those fences.
its only metal fences that are being affected and not the wooden ones.
would be nice to climb a prison fence and use a sheet or blanket to protect against he barb wire
those ones being breakable is new
they used to be unbreakable up until very recently
build 42 made tall fence bases no longer useful.
until 42.12 😄
Nowhere is safe soon. Except some countryside locations.
Still demanding justice for stone/metal walls, if erected by professionals, they should not be able to be damaged by zeds rapping their knuckles against them!
Sandbox settings exist but they count for all kinds of player constructions, not specific ones.
Oh god, we are no longer safe
No but the patches becoming smaller means B42 is more stable and feature complete. I said B42 multiplayer team is cooking considering they have been working in background for a while.
We just haven't had a blog post for 10 months now so we don't have an idea of how things are developing. Makes sense, they're busy and people get a little to ravenous with info.
I mean, theres patch notes
Major features missing, more than one. This last patch was "less full" because of holidays and stuff and took longer than usually because of the said reasons.
And what major features are still missing
bows im aware of
I don’t remember brewing ever being talked about
also these are minor features not major
I would say
I think they have talked about fluids
yeah
Food pres would be lovely tbf
a new weapon type that requires animations, a whole skill
not quite minor feature, that
whole primitive survival has to be completed, too
a new weapon and some animations wouldn’t be that bad, they already have the framework for ranged weapons
yes primitive survival does need to be more complete tho
Wilderness survival loop is still missing a few things to be fully self sustainable still no? Not game breaking but it was one of the things they have pushed for
Premise of the statement was that "patches smaller because B42 is feature complete", and that is not true, this current patch just took longer for reasons stated above
I think bows might be delayed cuz they have to figure out animations and stuff
How you gonna hunt animals in the wilderness without ranged weapons?
throwable spears are very acceptable workaround if bows delayed
And I want bows 😄
In fact, that should be done anyway as a pathway to food prior to getting bows up and running
But the trade-off would be you are closer and more likely to scare your target off or something
also something something advanced occupations

same lmao didnt know they add it x)
they suppose to revamp the heal systeme to be more complex cant wait to see what they gonna do imagine you get all part of the exo bone, organe, tissu ect when you get injured
are spears viable or not
Just realised that vehicles are much less likely to take damage from zeds than in B41. Very welcome change!
Would be great if it increases aiming as well
A flawed assumption, because this patch was smaller notably because it came out after a lot of the team were on holiday
There are plenty sizable features missing still, keep your expectations low
Also the profession rework 😉 no more burger flipper after years into the apoc. Be interesting to see what they dynamically turn into
burger flipper of the apocalypse
Very, easy to make, the crafting is very versatile for them
did b42 add metal spears
They have good reach and with decent strenght and maintenance pretty deadly
Yes
As well as stone and bone spears
primate behavior
Well if you ask me, using anything other than the simpler spears isnt worth it anyway currently, because they all do similar damage and break similarly quickly
They havent balanced that yet, nor have they adequately buffed welded and blacksmithed weapons
Oh thats lame! i wanted to make a kickass spear like from the scrap weapons mod.
soo.. still no multiplayer?
surely once stable drops
You tell me
Open the game and check!
I had so many knapped stone blades, twine/duct tape and sticks in my previous save that i could make like 20 spears
It was beautiful
To be honest i started making all sorts of stuff
By the way, leather aprons are worth it. They look sick and add a lot of protection to most of your bodyparts
But i digress from the topic
What did we like the most about this patch?
Me neither :C
The way i play is that i usually put 100 hours into the game then quit and wait 4-5 patches
i just wait until they release stable version at the end of the year.
its gonna be a big learning curve yet again
exciting really
The race cars ngl

You think it is that soon? Ahahah
Have fun
for now, there is a mod for thst feature
Only me who have game stutters when shoting shotgun?
I have not seen others complaining about this. Is the problem occurring on a fresh save with no mods installed?
fresh save in guns unlimited. I killed a lot of zombies with car and then start shoting indoors. Then some zombie start spining very fast on ragdoll and stutters happen almost every time I kill a zombie
It's quite possible your mod is having the issue. If you can test without mods it will tell you if the problem is with your mod or the game itself.
no mods
I've definitely not seen any complaints like this. I would recommend making a support ticket in the #1019767076094758924 channel. Would be a good idea to include the video there as well.
done
WHAT
can the Zombies destroy Fence now? O.O
i then not protected anymore
can they destroy the fences now?
Some fences yeah
Most of them I assume now, haven’t played the last couple patches
oh noo
ill build stone walls
those evil zombies, they got stronger somehow, they was not able to break fences before
Had same issue, twice already, i think it's combined with ragdoll system, when i hit with melee weapon corpse of zed get ragdoll system triggered (dont ask me how), and it stutter
so is it now only shotguns heavily buffed or every weapon overall?
Shotguns had a bug where a large number of the pellets would just disappear after being fired. We fixed the bug so that now they don't.
that's really nice
Does lighting now works with rooms i'm not in as it worked in b41?
I mean they black out now
What do you mean
i have found unkillable Zombie o:
can this be a bug?
i fighting it for 10 Minutes already
it dont look special but it not die, i do not know what to do
it dont go away and i can not kill it
okay the zombie have die now, this was a biiiig fight O.O
i have drive with car over it many times
this must have be a boss zombie
What bugs I found in two days of playing build 42.12
- On the stairs, the sound of everything you do will be doubled.
- It is impossible to unpack and cook macaroni and cheese.
- After minimizing the game using the Windows button, the music in the game disappears.
- In some cases, the snow on the road looks strange and strange stripes are visible.
- When trying to drink a juice pack from the ground, an error pops up.

Sharing them here means they likely won't get looked into. We have an official process as it allows the team to collect the necessary information needed to investigate problems. When it's shared here it's not actionable.
We have bug reporting guides in each forum that discuss what's needed, and placing them on the forums ensures they don't get lost
I will try to do it, but I won't promise you anything.
Yes i see that to
this music bug is true
I have a favorite background music in Zomboid
Mac & cheese issue is already on our radar 👍
Just replicated the juice box issue
More information / proper bug reports would be required for the others 🙏

can anybody help please
ill just tell here what happen
ill tell now
Whether you share it on the steam forums, on the official TIS forums, or even in the #1019767076094758924 (hope Beard won't mind), we need the following information;
Which version of PZ? (says in the bottom right of the game)
Do you have any mods turned on? (please list which ones)
Is this happening in a brand new save, or a save you started on an older version?
Finally, and arguably most important;
What steps can ANYONE follow in order to experience the same issue
oh okay!
i will do!
i want be helpfull!!
ill send in the pz Tech Support channel with all the information you said!
lmao I love this.
do i make new threat?
or put it in one of the existing threats?
I just discovered my favorite soundtrack, it's called Pressing On
You can make your own thread 🙂
(example)
"Drinking from juice box on the ground causes error"
version : 42.12 (30715)
mods : "Forage Running"
save: new save
reproduction steps;
- find juice box
- place juice box on ground
- right click on juice box to drink
- error!
Run at them screaming wildly
okay, wait me
i do it rn!
thank you for help
videos help as well if you have them
I got the music bug too, no idea how it started but the music only plays for a split second when going from minimized to maximized
i do not know how to make Video, but it can be good explained, ill make the post now, then if need more information or video, then ill try
It's fine if you don't have them, but they do help a lot if you do.
I did it, i have send it, i made bug report in the pz Tech Support channel, i hope it okay like that and all is understandable and if have questions can ask me
Tech support is not for bug reports, you have to submit your bug report here if you play without mods -> https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/forum/85-bug-reports/
Bugs go here. Please save us the time to translate all the posts in different languages and post them in English instead.
oh no i in trouble now?
i have tryed it :(
i so sorry
you need to create an account, which i understand if you dont want to do
this modern world requires us to have hundreds of accounts and i find it quite irritating
Alternatively you can file bug reports on the Steam forums too. https://steamcommunity.com/app/108600/discussions/6/
thats genuinely a more convenient way to do it actuallly
do the people check on there as much as your forums?
Our QA monitor all our forums
Hey, we saw this previously in the latest development news. It would be great if it happens and they haven't forgotten about it!
https://youtu.be/opGQu8LCdEs?si=T5OC8qp6yccrQ1IT
someone else is having problems with shapern weapons? like i use a whetstone to sharp it and it just gives me the xp of maintence like it goes everything ok, but the weapon doesnt change nothing, other thing is that i can infinite sharpen that weapon, just receiving the xp and with the same stone
What was the 150 megabyte update in the game today? What did it change?
Your mods probably updated
yeah I'm very excited for this too
cause getting all the things from a vending machine without even breaking it and not paying anything makes no sense
Man I haven't done serious run since before days were made 90 mins, you can get so much more done!
stop complaining abt ur b42 saves corrupting if its vanilla its because its unstable and the mods made for b42 are also unstable
I already looked.. You are absolutely right.
As much as I want it... If you read the news post that the vending machine comes from it says it was just a demo to show off the tech capabilities to modders 😢
I hope so, I loved it
HOLY Crap.... this is like, half my wishlist, and im not done reading
If not a modder could do it
Why is the XMS part of the PrijectZomboid64.json gone?
Just looked at some guides on how to allocate more RAM and realized that got removed
It isn't gone
Then I must be blind or something
You're probably looking in the wrong place
is in \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid
Yeah thats exactly where I looked
right under the .exe file
You can also do it in a shortcut target so you don't have to redo it every time
I ment XMS not XMX
What exactly do I need to put in?
Xms only specifies the initial memory allocation pool. You don't technically need that to allocate more ram IIRC
❤️
So it's just the Xms... part right? Like the path doesn't get put in
yea should already be in there just gotta add the -xms -xmx
got it, thx
then if you are really fancy and you use debug often you have a separate shortcut setup the sameway but with -debug
and then you never have to type that in
Normal that the hurricanes lantern cannot be light from the groupe to light the zone? I can only light it in m'y hand and when i place it the light turn off...
What kind of mods do yall recommend for a solo game during these patches?
Like what is yall's must haves?
my must have is no mods for my main playthrough during unstable so that I can report bugs
That's a good idea....
are splints visable on players in b42
Currently, build 42.12 uses one nail for window and door barricades, although logically and realistically 4 should be used.
please add idle poses for character customization!
i also want to be able to change menu designs to be rounded or blocky (normal), change backgrounds to pink or white or blue or something instead of black, etc!
Sooooo... idk what that was but I was just fighting zombies with a pistol and suddenly my game got a stroke and basically nuked itself
I do use quite a few mods tho so good chance one of them did that. Tho it did happen specifically once I started to use the pistol
I imagine any mods to do with firearms might need updating
for example, this sims mod, which makes the menu so much cuter to me
i feel like diff menu and ui options just a few would be nice
i do like the b42 menu screen and this a lot tho
https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/17snamk/im_recreating_the_ui_from_pz_just_for_fun_now_im/
personally this is also very nice! and i would love to see how a style like this could be implemented in the customization screen. personally i think a customization style like the sims where the character is in a small scene maybe a room or something is very nice, and people could use mods to replace the room

Well, I don't have any mods that change the vanilla guns in any way

then I have no idea haha
Guys, be careful when pushing zombies, there is a bug where the push may not count and the zombie bites you, this happens to me more often than you think
If you can get it to happen reliably, providing us with steps to reproduce will make it easier to find the source of the problem. Our team is struggling to recreate this issue in testing.
I'm not used to the ragdoll physics so trying to knock over a zombie is way hard to tell if you succeded... It takes a lot longer for them to fall I've noticed.
Are you guys aware of the bug? It seems to happen when you push more to the side of the zombie, like aiming at its shoulder, but that's what I think, I'll try to reproduce this bug again
We are aware of reports of it, but have been unable to narrow it down, which is why we need reliable steps to reproduce
What do you mean by reliable measurements? videos?
I mean can make it happen reliably. When we try to make it happen, it doesn't.
Okay, I'll go into debug mode and see how this bug happens, I'll give you the instructions soon.
just happened to me in testing
and apparently I saw the cause
it happened again
I will test about 20 more times, if it happens most of the time, then I have found the cause
Érosion, barricade house, vehicle condition over time, wandering zeds, sense of blood,
I'll try to record, my PC has to be able to handle it
I've also identified some bugs in the push animation (but it might just be my PC's problem)
My test report:
The bug doesn't seem to have a fixed cause, but I have some evidence.
It happened to me 4 times in total during testing.
Most of the time it happened while I was standing still, with only one occurrence when I moved sideways. I'm still investigating further, but I think it must be something related to the hitbox.
In the tests I tried to use as many pushes as possible, but apparently the response was just the opposite, it was with fewer pushes (1-2) that it happened
In the test, I took away my character's strength and put in the weak and feeble trait.
I hope they help you guys at TIS
Oh, I forgot to mention, there seems to be some kind of NO-CLIP going on with the zombies, I ran into a zombie, and in some tests I went through it as if nothing had happened
did I help with anything?
Bug reports are probably best using the official method, they’ll likely get lost here
someone probably mentioned this already, but the soundtrack's busted, lmao
I had two tracks play on top of each other once, and like three times where the combat music didn't trigger so far.
Id really try to get video if possible
lmao doing that burn my good damn house the wind blow the fire to the wall
is it possible to do a full primitive run without finding certain tools? last time i checked you need club hammers for mining or was this patched so that primitive hammers can be used.
The fact that it's happening to you so readily is helpful, but our team still hasn't been able to replicate the issue on a fresh save with no mods installed. Videos help, though we have had a few already so we know for certain people are having the issue, we are just struggling to narrow down why they are having the issue since we can't seem to make it happen ourselves.
U guys working on patching the headshot bug yet
Torso and head overlapping causing headshots to be impossible
I'm not aware of that one personally, but it doesn't mean the team isn't (QA handle the bugs, I'm just popping up to guide the community on the ones that are giving us a lot of trouble). I'd recommend filing a bug report. Worst case scenario we get a duplicate report.

Its already wide spread so i hope they know
Its already been solved by the community too
Please don't assume someone else will report it, generally they don't.
Anyways when u go to aim at the head hitbox
reports here will get lost.
im not at my pc so i cant make a forum post ill just hope they know abt this bug by now
If you want it fixed, I'd recommend making a bug report when you're able.
Im pretty sure i know how they could fix it
Making the head hitbox have a special property so it takes priority over the torso hitbox
any updates on multiplayer ?
You will be boiled.
I think it has something to do with shooting downed zombies. The only real major gamechanging mod I have is common sense the rest is just adding stuff on top
Currently getting a 3x damage boost from headshots is impossible
I mean its possible but not going to happen 90% of the time
Because when zombies are standing still or even slightly overlapping the hitbox of their head with their torso it causes the shot to instead hit the torso
Even if the head hitbox is infront of the torso hitbox
Okay so it is NOT the common sense mod
I have no other major vanilla changing mods so this is likely an actual vanilla bug
If you have any mod, any mod at all, assume its the reason for the bug. Bug reports are useless if theyre with mods enabled
Yeah, no idea what causes this
Hmmm, okay. Thought they wouldn't matter as they have nothing to do with guns
sadge
And, when on the forums, they'll generally want you to try to reproduce the bug without mods anyway
Oh, I think I found it. Yeah it was a mod. I'm certain it's sponges (spongees?) character mod
Nevermind then

Thought so
Just FYI I'm a bit stupid, it was Tomb's actually Spongies works fine
lol
Multiplayer when
true
I have just finished watching a stream testing the new update , i think for me in order to not hate the game i love is to wait again for the next patch , its unstable i know but i recommend for people who only play the game to have fun but not to test for bugs , just wait for next patch
Crafty!
Build 42.12 made it so headshots do more damage, except you can't land headshots in many cases.
the difference is that crafty only increases xp gain from crafting skills
so it is more specialised
your choice
If you need a easy way to record
Do win+g
There is a ability to record on there
Does anyone know how to get fert. eggs to hatch?
anyone not being able to repair cars and just getting errors
hello
Do you have any mods installed, and are you on a new save
i have no mods relating to ui or mechanics and i am on a new save
Do you have any mods installed, and are you able to recreate the issue without mods installed
i havent tried i will i also have the error message i think and its for vannila
If you can recreate the error in vanilla you should report it on the forums. With 42.12 being so new any mod can cause all kinds of issues

nah u cant go out like this u definitely get sweat tired and hot plus the movement nerfs these clothing give you
thats what happens when you get cat eyes 2
I was legit the only one clothed like a human and not as as a pillager that saw +70 bite defense and slapped it onto myself when I played with my friends in MP

Do you think they will end this build by december? Like a full year?
Because i can't see it... The delay will be like 6 more months

Hello 📍Rolândia, SP
I forget are days 90 min in apocalypse difficulty now
real time days are something
God I would never want to play lkke that lol
How does muscle strain and all that go with the extra time
Actually farming js probably harder with thst time
Actually more thinking on it, what IS the reason for longer days
More time to do stuff
You dont feel like youre being rushed as much
I like 2 hour days
2 hour days + slower thirst and hunger drain
5 minutes days
so aslong as i eat 1 large meal in the morning im good
you see, i dislike <90 minute days a lot because your character is constantly yapping about being thirsty, hungry, or tired
there simply isnt that much time for things inbetween
I have always been tempted to try it for the memes
Realtime? Lol
Realtime would use the current irl clock time
24 hours is just 24 hours
yea haha
I tried it because i love animal crossing, its something else lol

Def try itbhahah
I remember playing DayZ servers when it was just the mod and most of them were 24 hour at the time, was pretty wild
I was doing a little debug pushing of zombies and recorded it - had quite a number of zombies ignore the push and go for the nom. I shall cut down the footage and upload it
Is it okay for the game to stutter like crazy when starting and loading new areas?
🤷♂️
Project bugzoid.
unstable is unstable
if it is concerning you should turn on debug and see what is in the log when you start up
it's been like that ever since b42 released
Hate to be the guy that says "Just throw more RAM at it", but it does sound like you may benefit from increasing RAM allocation. Check if you're maxxed out when running the application (default RAM allocation is just 3Gb iirc)
14 minutes cut down to 50(51 on youtube?) seconds of pushing zombies and them ignoring the pushes and biting (or my blocking)
Hate to say it, always try to be supportive of TIS. But between this bug and the buggy headshot, this bodyparts feature has proven poor. I'm sure it will age well eventually, but I wish stayed unreleased a tad longer
maybe if the bodypart were slightly highlighted by the cursor
Gj mate!
Dont forget that its UNSTABLE version, its TIS'es gesture of goodwill they gave us possibility to play 42b before official release 🙂
Ain't forgetting it. Very happy with overall dev progress. But being unstable doesn't mean they are forced to release a feature that has clearly issues and fixed it later on. Could've just cook it a bit longer that's all I'm saying
It doesn't feel like a UI thing to me... Looks like there's two separate issues there
For headshot seems some sort of overlap between body parts hitboxes; for shoving looks as if the bodyparts from zeds don't register sometime
most likely yep
theres a bug with spears in b42 that does that too
where u go for the one shot K.O stab to the head and they just ignore it and biteu
usually how it goes, release a feature and then polished over time and it becomes amazing! Were you around when they first released 3D item placement in B41 unstable? If you moved the items would all shuffle around - few patches later it was much better and by the time of release it was a non-issue 99% of the time
Yeah thats true, but meanwhile TIS is releasing tones of content and fixes, i can imagine that sometimes one change can make other places of code work differently. They now TIS dont even know how to make that bug happen to try to solve it. next patches will fix it for sure
I'd imagine it is related somehow, but that is terrifying
i havent tested knives yet but they prob also have the problem
cuz of stealth kill
Wasn't around yet, and I'm sad I missed the fun now! Anyhow, I'm sure they will eventually fix it perfectly. I guess I'm just annoyed at it as I'm keen to have a proper run but this cools off my enthusiasm to jump at it (so that's a me issue 100%)
In TIS we trust 💪
the multiplayer.. it releases by the end of the year, or so says my orb
❤️
i wonder how b42 pvp will work.
will the stunlock still happen or will they add adrenaline
Likely unchanged unless they actually start balancing for pvp but I don't see that happening any time soon. But who knows maybe the team working on MP are also working towards that as well?
me seeing zomboid unstable build full of weird bugs (i cannot stand this heresy)
Cant find bugs without play testers
Where can i change it
for me, I have worse performance with no mods in 42.12 then a full modded 42.11. Would be awesome if you make 42.11 available in the betas
Or just deal with it loooooolllllll xdddddddddd d d d d
Are we still getting more improvements to fall damage calculations? You can still get fractures at full condition with no moodles or health issues from a less than single floor drop.
The chance lowers the closer youre to the ground, doesnt mean you CANNOT get a broken leg at all, though, iirc
the amount of weight you are carrying effects the fall damage way too much right now
like you can survive insane drops by just being naked with absolutely nothing
but being a little over encoumbered can break your leg from 1 floor
It shouldn't be possible to FRACTURE anything at <1 floor height with everything being normal
This isn't about encumbrance, I said no moodles.
Imagine literally nothing wrong with your character
thats kinda what i was trying to say, moodles have basically no effect compared to the weight you are carrying
5.14 is too much?
It's very hard to tell what's on purpose and what's not for this specific balancing
@hidden sluice for RAM change read here
i have not tried using guns yet, but how are they if your using controllers? is the mechanic different ?
To AmazingSully,
There is a push to assist you in replicating the "pushing zombies bug". Hopefully, it will be of help.
Reddit community doing work!
So i just change the xms number? Thats all?
There is some mad debug hunting going on in the bug report thread on the forums too. I love it ❤️
Xmx
S is smallest, X is maximum
so multiplayer by end of year confirmed for 42 or no?
No
Whats the purpose of smallest
What dictates the usage of the smallest and highest value?
What
Well if theres a value for max RAM allocation then what use do i have for the minimum amount?
None
I could set both to 6000
Someone up the thread mentioned it is used on start up
That is all I know
I know it was something that had to be set in Minecraft, especially for modded back in the day. And that it helps now in PZ
Easter Egg: When driving the red nascar vehicle, ensure your microphone is set to the correct input and say “KACHOW” the game will listen for the command and the speed of your vehicle will be uncapped from 120 mph to 500.
WARNING. THIS MAY CRASH YOUR GAME WITH HOW LIGHTNING YOU ARE QUEEN.
will we die from crashing at 500 mph
Before the moment of collision your vehicle will take off skyward as Life is a Highway Ost will start to play
Has the dev team considered adding negative traits where you learn recipies in certain skill trees at a higher required level?
The same drips in Project Zomboid, if I repair the holes with duct tapes. I can't tell if they're Balenciaga or hobo fashion anymore.
You gotta get tailoring 10 to keep your drip clean
tailoring 8 ^
nobody is really talking about it but the way they categorized explosives by damage and fire risk makes me hope its setting up for more explosives to be added later 🙏
pipebombs are so troll in pvp
please tell me this isn't a joke.
do you mean like... if you use the whole, holding recipe to be able to make something a level higher than you actually are, the thing you make has negatives to it?
Fixed movie rental room Spawn
why is that s a capital?
same with snow
@elder junco for 1 time i will not ask for MP, instead i have another issue,
if u manage to survive 1-2 months trees will cover the whole map is this intended or subject to change
show screenshots
and are u on vanilla
Grrrrrrrrrrr
When multiplayer
When ready
December maybe, or later
some day
before you know it, the devs will be yelling "don't make me turn this car around!"
How do you get eggs to hatch? Are there certain conditions that are in the game to promote them hatching (incubation etc.)?
GTA 6 will release before multiplayer for build 42 lol
ghost plz lol
I mean at the current rate that wouldn't surprise me
I do hope for a more stable version soon
Im dying to play it
But I dont wanna start over
But if the devs are financially able to take the time they need to finish it then im good
At least we get communication and updates every couple months.
until we get some bows to hunt animals once you exhaust all the ammunition looted on the map.
noo..
we need to be able to craft gunpowder, craft casings. craft bullets
craft magazines, craft guns, madmax style !
Bows are a big one for me
bowssssss pls
crossbows and other types of bows are something I would love to see and add more proper stealth to the game.
not sure if bows will have ragdolls.
at least the good thing about bows is the arrows and bolts can be reused rather than being lost.
😺 ya! bow go boom? bow go flame! bow go metal with metal arrow
such possibility
such endless
Sorry if this is the wrong channel to ask, but is TIS still split into 2 teams (or 3 if you count the mp team)? Reading an old blogpost they indicated there was a split, with some working on b42, and others on b43/npc mechanics in general, but since it was a while ago I just got curious if anyone knew.
Yes
As far as we know/last heard. It is possible at this point some people from B42 have transfered over to 43
u wonder if there is a project zomboid 2
Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. Makes sense. I'm a newgen as I joined after b41 stable so I wasn't paying attention to the blogs at the time.
Honestly hope that's true, would rather b42 stable take longer in return for a (hopefully) not as long wait on b43.
Totally fair! 😁
im only having the issue with a fireaxe. so far knives seem to be fine. testing further
There are multiple teams including external contracted teams (Such as TEA, Tanglewood Games, Formosa Interactive) that work on different systems. The NPC team built the foundation for NPCs and implemented it into B42 alongside basic Animals, while continuing to work on the system for full implementation in B43. There is also a branch for MP which is being worked on alongside B42. A branch for mapping, etc.
me personally, I'd like to extend gratitude towards the mapping branch. specifically to whoever's in charge of designing buildings.
some of the new houses are just (mwah)
😭
It’s gonna take a lot of time. I don’t believe that they will make NPCs before 2030. Just my thoughts
And maybe the 42 build will be stable after GTA VI for consoles
But anyway they are updating their game and it’s good
I will totally play this even if there will be a lot of new games
What are you using to record screen while playing PZ?
1997
Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it a lot. In my rereading I was aware of the other studios (e.g. TEA, Formosa), but I was unsure whether they are "teams", "collaborators", or "hired help" for Zomboid. You seem to indicate they are more hired help/contractors; less actual sublets of TIS/collaborations. I was also under the impression that there was a more clear split in the b42 ai and b43 ai departments, as I thought the idea is that the ai/npcs for b42 are a far more primitive version of the b43 npc code, logic and game design, but I could very well be severely off the mark. I also didn't realise that mapping is just a separate branch, but that makes sense. All in all, thank you for the detailed response, you are another example of how good the zomboid community can be.
They are hired help teams, but they work very closely with the actual in house teams. I would speculate they have predefined goals to complete (e.g. Sound rework by Formosa), compared to in house dev teams which have an overarching goal to implement a feature (e.g. Animals) as a goal, but not specifically the features that make that up. That allows creative expression from Devs and leads to what we have now which is incredibly in depth features like genetic makeup of animals with dominant and recessive traits.
We don't know what's really to come in terms of full AI. We know there is a more experimental animal AI on a dev branch that closer represents the AI we are more likely to get in B43. Whether this will be implemented as part of B42 is yet to be known. The team that worked on Animals (mostly RJ based on comments) is not the same team that works on AI, so theres some disconnect during the initial implementation of those. The bar the community has set for NPCs is extremely high, and i have no doubt TIS will want to exceed even that over 10 years after removing NPCs from the game.
And thanks, i do my best to better the community 😄
That's a pretty spot on explanation
TBH, should be the copy paste if anyone asks something like it again (I can't imagine the questions you get on a daily basis).
In all seriousness, that has answered all the questions I had. You have been immeasurably helpful in understanding how TIS has managed to make such a good game. You are definetly on the spot for the bar being set high, but I can still remember the joy of the B42 unstable release. No other game has ever given me that hype before, so I think the hard working Spiffos in trench coats that are TIS will nail it.
A lot of the questions are so silly though
You can find out plenty answers if you just hang around for a while
Worst thing is when people are gullible and believe everything a random fan of the game says
"When multiplayer", "Why devs lazy", "When npcs", etc
MP crybabies acting as if there can be any well-functioning multiplayer without a well functioning singleplayer
Hanging around for a while is a big time commitment. I definitely understand people not wanting to do that. Plus there is so much information out there about so many different topics, it is pretty tough to find things.
More FAQ could probably help
But you'll always find someone who wants the smallest details
No matter how important they actually are
I'm not opposed to an FAQ actually, but that stuff requires constant maintenance, and will people actually be checking the FAQ?
I hope I wasn't being too annoying in the ask. It wasn't out of anything other than curiousity around how devs do deving.
I'm just talking about it in general dont worry
Nope, ask questions if you have them. If people give you shit for it we'll hit them over the head
I just see the thousands of questions this server goes through on the daily
Crowbar or baseball bat?
Shrug, but atleast you can cut people off with a simple "check the Faq"
Every single time
Saves time
Fair, or community members can
The answer is not it won't be maintained and no people won't read it. I can tell you from the wiki 😅
There have been many questions/misunderstandings about how many separate dev teams are involved in the development of the game, each team's responsibility, whether one area of that takes more priority over another, etc. Could start with that
I mean on the Steam forums we have a pinned post titled "Build 42 Multiplayer/Stable - When Will it Release?"... and still we get maybe 4-5 "MP When?" posts per day
maybe that's high... 2-3
but having the pinned post has helped
🙏Thank you for the life and living page, I was so confused around whether every day of the channel had a 00:00 show. Saved me lots of confusion.
Considering the FAQ would be managed by people akin to Sully, you'd expect them to be maintained
Yeah but that means more work for me 😛
Actually, also all the skill pages. Some of the skills in game don't have descriptions on how they improve the action they relate to, so wiki was helpful in my everlasting curiosity
And having to respond to a specific development related question each time ranging from a few rows of text to two paragraphs every single time is not a lot of work?
Ahhhh, but I can pretend I didn't see those 😉
Smh
I guess that even from a observer's perspective it just bothers me
Id imagine FAQ would be ultimately better
Because some people don't think about how something like when multiplayer would be added to b42 is a common question, so therefore they are the first to ask
no, I do get it... and it's something I'll consider/pitch
Much appreciated
Waiting for steam EA FAQ to be updated 😉
We have a wiki companion mod called "Wiki that!" on steam workshop now too if you'd like to try it. Can access the wiki through the right click context menu
wait, which one is this?
This one

oh the Store page... yeah I don't have access to the store page, that's NasKo's territory

One day, when your secret plans of becoming overlord of zomboid come to fruition (don't deny it), you will be bestowed the great privillage of store page editing.
I don't want that kind of responsibility...
Just get the title, but don't do anything with it
I do like the idea of prestige without added work...
But the prestige does come with lots of finger pointing by keyboard warriors when NPCs take longer than 10 seconds to be done
oh I already get that
You're community manager aren't you? How do you also get blame
Red name = blame
Literally no input on coding whatsoever
Change the colour to blue
also the community manager is the one everyone yells at... that's like line 1 of the job description
Blue name = infinite support
That's a fair point. I just genuinly can't believe anyone other than people with the emotional intelligence of a toddler blaming the one person who has no effect on code (devs don't deserve blame either, doesn't get anyone anywhere).
It's just such a leap in logic.
I mean the entire team shares any blame to be fair, and I think that's fine. If I do a poor job then feedback isn't getting to the coders/designers properly, and then they need to pick up the slack, which means they aren't as focused on the things they specialise in, etc. It's a big domino effect. That pretty much goes for any role within the company too.
It's probably fair to say that Harber has been a big help in separating community feedback from bug reports to pick up that slack
yeah Harber is a madman... volunteers for more work... who does that?
Exactly. From what I can tell, the pipeline of suggestions to in game is part of the reason Zomboid is where it is now (ascertained from my limited time in the community and learning the TIS lore), meaning that as you say, your job could mean months difference in update times and suggestion implementation with devs getting swamped by the community.
I think I saw him in my little looksie into some of the unstable release threads. Is he like the bug finder and gatherer
?
He's a madman at verifying bugs and pushing them through for fixes, even from some atrocious discord messages
The idea of being QA in a game sounds fun, but in reality (hopefully not being ignorant) it is pretty tough from what I can tell.
It's 5% testing new features and 95% documentation and paperwork
Although, I can imagine the 5% is pretty cool sometimes (hopefully, otherwise harber is truely insane)
Hi

👋
QA is certainly an interesting field. I wouldn't call it "fun", but interesting/challenging for sure. If you like solving puzzles it's a great job
Hey aslong as im getting paid
I don't want to make any inaccurate statements, but Patbren and writing for pz sounds like a pretty fun job. Building lore for games sounds cool, and the lore and ingame applications of it (e.g. readable fliers and newspapers) show that
😂
"whats your profession?"
"profassionaly breaking stuff"
QA in a nutshell
It can be both, really. The worst is separating modded reports from non-modded reports, hearing that "you guys broke the game" from someone with 600 mods on an unstable build, and then expecting us to fix things with vague reports, or just magically fix all their issues.
I imagine the breaking part can get tiresome pretty quickly
It's not just here though, it's everywhere when I look at Steam discussions
Yeah then comes the "Well nobody plays vanilla"...
Same people complain to us why we only cover vanilla systems on the wiki
because there's just too many mods to cover?
i mean you really dont need to be a rocket scientist to understand that, there is plenty of free wiki resources and in the worst case just slap a github together for your mod with a inbuilt wiki
I have looked at the reddit and these discussion pages as well, and I have seen the amount of conversations that go like this.
Person with problem: "You broke (game feature) in this update. Fix now".
Dev (Probably poor harber or sully): "Do you have mods?"
Person with problem: "Yes, just a few qol mods though. Only around 300."
Testing and playing are also distinct. Sometimes you need that eye on how well something actually plays vs just accepting "it works".
There's a whole bunch of reasons, that's a big one, they also tended to never be maintained, and there's enough work to be done for vanilla that covering mods would be a huge waste of time
Like genuinly? Only game I have ever seen that has wiki coverage of mods extensively is minecraft, and even then it is often very barebones/inaccurate
I made the most detailed bug report guide possible, and tried to make it as clear as possible that mods make your report defunct, but it's impossible for people to read it.
Good arguement, but also

So I just find something, if it's well reported and has no mods, reproduce it, and then log it. But I also can't count the amount of reports I've tested that say "no mods", and then I'm like "are you sure?"
"Yeah, I only have one mod that isn't related to this issue" and that's the mod causing the issue

because most of it is fandom, and lets just say fandom isnt exactly doing this for the people... considering its more ads than wiki
We have very limited editors already, adding the scope of mods is outlandish. It is something people bring up more often than i'd expect
It is one of, if not the best bug report template i've seen
Was trying to explain that to someone a day or two ago. Replicate it in vanilla then make a bug report
new bug.. i have 5 fps.. i have 5000 mods but they dont cause it
i just dare to assume the biggest issue is how opague the crafting system can be, in something like minecraft you pretty much get JEI/EMI/REI/whatever-its-called-these-days that tells you how recipes work and what do
"sure as long as they pay me to test it, it's not my job"

I genuinely love modding the hell out of games, but I haven't since 5 months ago for the unstable as its just that, unstable. Patience is a virtue after all.
People expect magic and we're here just expecting the bare minimum you are sure this is a vanilla bug lol
Rookie numbers fr
Crafting rework in B42 for vanilla took me over a month to even get barebones info on the wiki. And it's still changing every second patch
boy are you guys in, because there's still a huge chunk missing
They did say the UI is a point of contension they are aware of, so I think a system like JEI (which there already kinda is) if in the long, very filled out, no longer white whiteboard
LMAO yes... getting people to read things... very hard
i am honestly just waiting for the automation code to be fully impleneted in lua so i can go make my zombie factory game
zomborio or project factboid?
how bout gregtech with a taste of apocalypse now?
Yeah (personally my favourite upcoming feature) but the framework should actually be the same as the current recipes. Our scripts already work for the debug recipes to do with making energy with coal and steam and stuff. Fingers crossed not a total rework
Btw, I'm assuming you are doing volunteer work (no monetary value)?
Why not both
Factorio and zomboid for me
as far as i can tell, the automation stuff only needs to be layered on top of the new system, but there's fairly little info on it
the few remnants in the script files i could not get to run
I volunteer my time in all kinds of ways for the PZ community yeah, proud enough of it to put in my discord bio 😄
From what i can tell too
Holy shit, you're the guy who made the b42 map website.
Literally my bookmarks tab rn
I mean, I would imagine your map knowledge would be pretty good considering
But I have a bad habit of closing every tab when I am done with it, and then needing it again 3 seconds later
Muscle memory for zooming to bookmarks when I am in a new 2 week phase for a game
You may be surprised lol
Honestly, zomboid is so good at making you feel disorientated (in a good way gameplay wise) in any situation
Just realised that emote is literally your username and pfp

Thats my PZ character
Makes sense
Stuart Babb, Louisville only on 8x pop, survived 6 months 27,000 kills 🫡
I also archive PZ versions particularly pre-steam versions that are lost to time
It was you, wasn't it. You stole the computers.
lmao
If i did it would be on the internet archive for them to redownload 😆
No, I think they are like trophies for you

Bloodslides can't compete tbh
Missed some

Have you tried any of the builds from like 2013? Are the npcs as magical as some claim they were?

Well pz isn't now, so thats a good sign
Well maybe a little still, but not like anything really crazy. Tried to play cdda and cbn, both on pc, and even mobile (
) and gave up due to the high levels of how the hell do I game in this game
People claim they were magical? 😄
In my attempts to learn the TIS lore, some of the arguements complaining about npcs being in the game before and not now had I believe said the implementations were good and that they shouldn't have been removed
Oof
Imo, you guys should be left to cook on that front. reading the 2022 blog posts, I have faith in you guys and gals
No, I get that some people just want the word NPC to be implemented and would be happy, but yeah they were not good, and they weren't in it for long. You had three options at the bottom of the screen for your personality towards meeting them "angry, neutral, happy" and half the time it didn't work, or you'd just get shot at by some random dude. Got old quickly lol
Or team up with someone who would die in ten seconds
Most zomboid players in the actual apocalypse

People want things quick, then complain when the things made quick aren't made well
Such is life
Especially for Sully and Harber
For this i hate to use ANY mod ingame. Pure vanilist here, hate when people throw screenshots with some advancements from game standing next to tank with pipe larger than character itself xD. But yeah, playing unstable release with tones of mods and reporting bugs is making the work harder, i can imagine...
Mods are based, but not for bug reports
With ragdolls in the game we should be able to drop a banana peel that zombies will slip on and ragdoll
actually ya
soap and water across a flooring such as ceramic
everyone ragdolls including players
OBS, but I have used steam recording and Shadow play in the past, both work fine
If by magical you mean randomly shoot you in the face for no reason (even when grouped up) then yes.
One of my favourite memories of the tech demo NPCs was starting a fresh run, right off the bat I was able to get a guy to join me, looted a few buildings and then ran into another one who seemed friendly, started trying to convince him to join us. As I did that my group member turned and blasted me, killing me one shot, and then the other NPC got blasted and then he walked off.
so i bought a friend of mine the game today- should i recommend he start with b41 or b42, yall think? b41's more stable and all but stars, b42 as of the current update is generally just leaps and bounds above b41 i think
Honestly with the shove bug right now I would recommend B41
That bug would confuse, and anger a new player who is already going to be overwhelmed with things. Likely causing them to not have a good experience with the game and ultimately quitting.
Once that is resolved though? 🤌
oh, yknow, i totally forgot that was a thing in new patch
do you think we'll get a hotfix or are we stuck with that for the next month
this is true, however first impressions matter, so you might want to choose b41 first
and if your friend really gets into it? B42
B41 was enough to make me fall in love, but thats because i generally love the vibe, graphics, and gameplay of it, even with much less content compared to B42
there's nothing quite like it
mm, true, true, i did also connect with the game in b41
everyone's different, i just know that if a newcomer doesn't have any good fun the first time they give the game a try, the chances of them sticking with it are tragically low
many B42 enjoyers are hardened veterans of the game, one gamebreaking bug wont ruin their week, lol
i'll probably like, lay out the options and let him choose? he's not the type to get frustrated at janky games which i'm trying to take into account
drakengard fan, which, uh. yknow.
what thingie
shove bug
sounds good i suppose
i'll admit i haven't actually experienced it myself but i've heard plenty of complaints about it
how do you trigger it, i havent seen it yet eithers
i thiiiink it's something about pushing at a particular distance?
14 minutes cut down to 50(51 on youtube?) seconds of pushing zombies and them ignoring the pushes and biting (or my blocking)
yea I am pretty sure it is a distance thing
thats weird , just pushing them causes it?
guys my game is turkish but you will understand with icon traits is this build good or bad ?
I uploaded with english
I have a question: if you kill some zombies, will the number of zombies reduce, or does it not matter how many you kill? For example, if I clear a town, will the zombies respawn the next day?
there are a number of factors at play here 1) you are likely in the early days of the apocalypse so the world is still working towards max population. 2) if you are on default settings there are two different types of respawn mechanics but it takes quite a bit of time for them to kick in 3) if you are later into the apocalypse then you may be experiencing either in cell migration or out of cell migration where the zombies have been shuffled into the areas you have opened up
so short answer is yes respawns happen, but not the next day - likely either sounds or migration moved them
So you should relocate somewhere after some time??
nah you will just see a few wander into the area you have cleared once and a while - and if it is a cell with a lot of zombies they will try to fill areas you have cleared until the cell starts to drop in population
no, if you stay in an area then zombies will not spawn in that area, however if you go away and come back after at least 3 days you will see some zombies spawning back in
a cell is 256x256 tiles in B42 (300x300 in B41)
and that 3 day respawn time doesnt respawn every zombie, its just that after 3 days it will try to respawn 10% of the zombies that cell is trying to get to
Damn, i have an issue with obs that whenever i start recording it closes my project zomboid game, have you experienced this?
That is weird, question are you running PZ in full screen or windowed borderless(windowed full screen)?
I have not experienced that one
Fullscreen
I would try windowed borderless
I dont know why, will try to reinstall obs then, maybe thats gonna help
Oh... Hmm okay, will try this one aswell. Thanks for suggestion
❤️ hopefully able to get it sorted!
OBS can be sketchy in how it hooks into games to record
so it might literally just crash the game, discord has the tendency to do the same in exclusive fullscrean for some games
Are Firearms still useless?
Does anyone have the same experience as me?
I mean, I use 100 shotgun bullets to kill just 40 zombies...
thought shotguns were buffed or something?
Maybe it is a ragdoll issue.
I should deactivate ragdoll
I shot once 3 time on the same zombie with a shotgun and he did not die.
Sounds like a good time tbh.
In all seriousness, I hope the people making that point were joking, but they didn't seem very sarcastic in their writing. I've only seen the tech demo npcs in 1 or 2 yt videos, and honestly the devs made the right decision in removing them, considering what they are able to produce now, who knows what could have happened with the game if they had to maintain those npcs.
tfw you want to play the new zomboid update but it's too buggy ._.
but that's unstable for you!
has anyone had a bug with their items not being consumed when used for building? (like planks for barricades)

If you are ever interested I believe there is a post on the forums to some of the old builds, and a post from the lovely MadDan(TIS Employee) on how to get the builds to work https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25690-old-versions/
Hey, I was wondering if there was anyway to download legacy versions of the game? I know the initial release is available on MODDB, I got it recently and had quite a bit of fun experiencing that slice of PZ's history, but I was thinking of like RC2.5 and such? With the expansion of the Knox Count...
You can experience the old NPCs in all their not so glory
The irony being that the game is actually quite stable now, just needs some bug fixes 🤣
the issue is that it's the bug that makes zombies potentially bite you while you're shoving them
I can't be assed to play around that. Guess it's a skill issue to not be able to play the combat the way it's intended. Oh well, I'll wait for the next patch or until a mod fixes it.
100% why I stopped with 42.12
The shove bug, the gasoline pump sketchiness (which isn't the worst just makes me nervous)
what's the gas pump thing?
You can't just walk away from a pump atm, you need to sprint or hit escape to cancel
oh that is dangerous
So if you have a zombie come at you be prepared to dash away
I'm just worried it'll take another month before we get a patch that fixes these kinda critical issues
but I guess that's what vintage story is for!
I think Sully said most people are back from their holiday vacation things. So we might see something, even just a hot fix sooner hopefully.
As you said, there are other things to enjoy so not a big deal 😎
a hotfix isnt coming
i imagine we'll just get the next patch instead
are you talking out of your ass or do you have any substance to this?
It's happened before
its been a long while already
not by project zomboid standards
last time we got a hotfix it was within 1 day
apparently devs were on a vacation
i doubt they'll release a hotfix and instead focus on making the next patch better.
it's been 5 days. That's not even half of the time it takes to release an average B42 update.
....but you're probably right that i should expect the worst and not be able to play for another month.
it took 2 months last time
im hoping this patch takes 3 months so we get more features
3 months of the combat being unintendedly broken... yikes
alot more than combat is broken right now
a lot of things I can work around
like if gas pumps are superglue, then ok I can plan around that. But if a zombie can bite me while I'm pushing him? no I can't work around that.
I don't expect a perfectly polished experience, really. But this legitimately breaks the game for me. I lost like 2 hours of progress to this bug and I guess it's my fault for putting 2 hours into a new release of B42 :v I'm not gonna get burned again, not until they fix it at least.
They did indicate a lot of absences in the team this last month, so things slipped through. Whether it's a patch or hotfix, patience will be required. Just enjoy other games while you wait.
Great game, always forget about it when picking something to play.
I'm hoping for this, and that now that people are back they'll fix this quickly. Time will tell!
hello other chat do raccoons eat from dog bowls

Wait why are QA being paid and we bug reporters are not.....
10 cents per bug report policy
Indie Stones don't have enought money for all the bugs 😛
Well... When i see word "unstable" i just imagine that game is gonna be crashing and bugging. Don't wanna be mean, but I'm curious what you expect from a game that's devs call unstable release?
I have lost 2 days ago like one-two hours trying to force the game to work, and while i read forum i noticed that the thing crashing my game constantly is a medium drying rack that finally finished drying, but somehow its bugged and destroying the save (deleting entity file in save folder fixed it). I left a comment that workaround helped, and imo this helps to make the game playable
That's also a good report as (I'd assume) not too many people playing b42 are either
A. Using debug mode for those niche cases or
B. Getting that far into the crafting system
Now that we have grapple tech and improved sneaking is there any plans to introduce executions to maintain stealth?
(Sneaking up behind an unaware zombie, one hit killing them and going into grapple tech if standing?)
I often find stealth is viable all the way up till you have a zombie in your building, then any combat alerts every single zed. (Or if you don’t trigger the one hit knife anim)
I personally do
Would appreciate new FAQs every time a new patch comes out. Things like, new mechanics introduction, common problems with new gameplay changes, etc.
So I don't have to ask, "help, zombies are not appearing as usual" and stuff.
The latest issue with generator fuel consumption is a great candidate for a FAQ section on troubleshooting high consumption rates.
pls add multiplayer
try again in December or later
Damn I don't think they had considered that
Haha maybe they would add it next update, would be sick
they seem to update the game every month ,seem pretty fine w me since they only have like 16-28 devs from what i have seen in the internet
It's important to note that not everyone at TIS is a dev even if they have a dev background. 16-28 employees isn't the same as 16-28 devs
that they do, but MP isn't probably coming just yet, but now checking calendar and seeing October, 2 months until a lot of "MP whens"
Everybody has a different definition of "dev" to be fair. Some think it's only coders, others include animators, designers, artists, writers, etc. I think if you're contributing to the game in any way there's an argument that you should be called a dev. It's a bit strange because in the non-game software dev space, positions like project managers aren't considered devs, but in gaming they would be by most people.
gone are the days when word definitions meant something - dev, developer - anyone who develops something
or perhaps the words are muddied, like "influencer"...I am not an influencer for farting in bed, influencing the different smell molecule composition of the proximity indoor air. But someone posting brainrot or even the AI youtube channels stealing scripts, videos from others are influencers
if anything, Sully develops the disappointment of those who expect great patch things. But also Sully develops the community feeling, that we peasants can talk straight to people who make our fave game
Hi
bot doesn't know to reply to "hi", only hellos and howdys

howdy to you too, assumed canadian theharber
It's interesting because even given what I said, I don't consider myself a PZ dev. I think subconsciously I don't want to take credit for all of the great work TIS have done, and maybe a bit of imposter syndrome in there. I was a fan before coming to work for TIS so it almost feels like I'd be cheapening that, which is a bit weird to say.
I see red, red name means important person.
oh I'm definitely not important
if they didn't have you, they would have someone else, and by god if that someone else would not rein in the expectations of people
but I get the feeling, I'd see myself too as someone new who has nothing to do with the already glorious past work
might take some reassuring and experience to feel as part of the crew
my wife tries to get me start learning coding/programming, but I'm very hesitant because what we finns know of coding and its memes, I don't see myself young enough to stay up late with coffee and just pushing code through like nothing else mattered
As someone with a programming background, I do recommend people try to code regularly. I started at the age of 30. The only experience I had was a couple of C++ courses in university while I was getting my math degree. Job was in a language I didn't know, and I just went for it, got it, and it opened a lot of doors for me. It's obviously not for everyone, but if you're a person who likes to solve puzzles, I'd definitely recommend putting in the effort to learn. It's a great career, and improved the quality of my life significantly.
I wouldn't even know where to begin, I see these advertised services like boot.dev but it feels like they're more akin to Duolingo, paid services that do not really teach you much
https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-lua
If you're starting from scratch & aren't sure where to get started, this could be a foot in the door -- once you understand the basics, all programming languages do the same thing (for the most part), just with different ways of being expressed.
Maybe I'd get decent enough by PZ full release to make mods for the game 😉
Yeah, if you're self-learning it'll take a lot of determination and focus as a heads up, but worth it in my opinion. If you need more structure I'd look at auditing a course at a university. I wonder if Harvard/MIT have online courses, I think they do
mods are a great way to practice actually
Then hop over to the Unofficial Modding Discord & follow some guides for adding a single item into the game --it's all downhill from there 😛
gotta make those stone/metal walls immune to zed damage myself!
worth noting... practice is the most important part of coding. So after getting the basics down from some online course, try to find a simple goal/target and build it
Calculators are a good one
And if you ever have questions just ask. Programmers can't turn away someone who asks them a programming question
it's encoded in our DNA
I'll keep all this stuff in mind, but seriously, at least make a sandbox setting for proper stone/metal walls taking no zed damage (maybe if built with high enough skill level)..........wink wink

granted you now have to collect a realistic amount of stone for it
I'll take it when we have also realistic vehicles, big trucks with capacity to haul a lot of stone, every other industrial vehicle to do that stuff with
yknow... that would actually be pretty cool
just not very practical, nothing to dig out sadly
i think there's still the compression garbage truck on the mod hub with which you can create zombie cubes
questionable morality, but working as a wall...
well, having trucks to begin with would please many players...I like looting, but Kentucky for an american state lacks a lot of industrial machinery and vehicles! What, did all the industrial workers flee with tractors, trucks, combine harvesters etc?
there was a mod that made working farming vehicles in b41
mods always there but I need TIS approval to use such life-altering things, ergo I always prefer the game itself to have stuff to ensure its counted as balanced
eh, you could probably tweak it to be loud as hell (if i remember it was already pretty loud) so using that thing anywhere but the country side was a death sentence
i imagine its even worse in b42, considering, yknow arms spaghetti
more realistic stuff pls, not just the bad realism, but also good realism (I totally did not read this same sentence from PZ reddit)
It's right next to the imposter syndrome and caffine
looks like the zombie attack animation doesnt get cancelled when he gets pushed
I apologize for any confusion but, AmazingSully probably added more depth to the explanation when I intended to use the word "dev" in a different context hehe, mb 🫂 (mb for late reply i had to go eat)
and the google button
and as a honorable mention: whoever is behind the Rhino javascript engine for Java is evil
Am I crazy or do keys keep appearing on the ground AFTER I visit an area and come back? Im like 99.99% sure this happens. Almost every time I go past lectromax there are 2-7 vans with maybe 1 key, and when I come back there are more on the ground.
i havent noticed anything , but ill keep eye out
I've been seeing it throughout B42 but figured it was something that would get fixed, but its never been mentioned. No mods.
Could be intended though, keys falling out of zombies pockets lol. I also wondered if there are 'forage findable' keys that somehow appear when you leave
Its so reliable im sure I could get a video
Does anyone here have extensive knowledge about Prorjct bomboid raccoons
project bomboclat
all i know is that they are ingame, you can kill them, and make a hat out of them
they appear to be quite common even in urban towns after a longer while
Does anyone have a mod to fix the pushing bug?
In B42.12
Or will I have to wait for the next update?
I put tuna in a box trap and almost immediately caught a female raccoon
what a waste of perfectly good tuna...
I was trying to catch a kitten
But raccoons are cool too
I just need to know if I can leave her kibble in a dog bowl and she’ll eat it
there isnt cats
It’s a mod! Pocket kittens
Peak
stocking up those fridges with food on day one of the zombie outbreak
for my next playthroughs i need to plan to move more refrigerators into my base
the one i had wasnt enough
If the devs have not used my money to be thrown into the woods to hunt and kill wild animals with their bare hands to better understand and simulate survival mechanics, I want a refund.
I've faith that these people can give me the best simulation of going outside on the market.
Thats my boi...
You cannot convince me that this man does not have the power to build a new world on the ashes of the old. Such lies will be dealt with harshly by my tribe of illiterate survivalists with wooden clubs.
Pat will run out of pencils, paper and ink, forced to chisel cuneiform into clay tablets in the corner of the village, shunned as the only literate member of the tribe. Go without the false trappings of technology, and realise that sooner or later, when the last drop of your precious gasoline runs out, there will be a return to monke
Fellow caveman enthusiasist is back

Why does my FPS start to drop to 40-30 after 1-2 months of survival when driving a car? I hope this will only happen in an unstable build
someone calculated that theres so much gas on apocalypse setting that it was more likely to expire than you use it all
bro you can tell they have aura look at that
For how many vehicles and generators?
make eating raw eggs cause sickness and eventually death without proper medicine
watching streamers eat raw eggs during gameplay with barely any consequences is weird
I don't think raw eggs generally make you sick. It's something like 1 in 20k eggs are believed to have salmonella. The issue is if you do get one of those 1 in 20k that you get REALLY sick.
Aw man... I crashed from a power outage, and when Ioaded the game it was Jan 1 hahaa
Fresh save, no mods?
Yep fresh save no mods
thanks... I thought it was still an issue, but couldn't get confirmation on fresh save no mods
and "power outage" can be hard to replicate in testing lol
LOL yeah it was a complete cutoff out of nowhere
let me know if there is anything I can do, happy to send the save or w/e
RIP Steve, I hardly knew ye and you had a cool car
Will let you know, thanks.
rest in snack steve , with the cool har
From my understanding it isn't even the raw egg in most cases as it is contaminated shell
chocolate mousse!
so delish
Chocolate mousse? Disgusting.
Chocolate moose? King shit.
Need something meatier than cocoa foam
There's a bit of info on the lower right side of the screen (with build number and shi like that). I suggest adding annotation there that would say if current game have mods enabled or not
and maybe even the original version the save was made in
We have something similar on our radar for this already.
creme brulee!!
🥹
thats my favorite dessert evers

I should make this
unplugging the pc might work
Yeah but we don't want to end up causing other issues on the PC, which could happen
Need a report made by the devs still out in the woods about which bugs are tastiest
Lol, it made me remember a cartoon about Timon and Pumba where they ate all sorts of crap from under the rocks and logs
Documentary, not a cartoon
maybe a virtual machine could replicate a power outage with a command but idk just a thought to put in
That's not a terrible idea
So long as you're aware of the jankyness of VMs
Where I live it happens often for some reason, I’ll be the sacrifice
build 43 when?
I hate when you try to escape trough window and you just open the curtains and die
This is so annoying I died like 5 times in this game that way
This is better to right click the window but when you open the doors and see like 20 zombies you just freaking out
Sounds like you're holding shift
I thought that even when holding shift if you hold whatever your interaction button is for more than like half a second you still go through?
I swear that the curtains don't get in the way if you hold it long enough.
Is this bug? after this update i cannot rip clothes even though i got scissors and knifes etc
Check the crafting menu
I just checked. I havent seen hotfix or changes to that i cannot rip worn clothes anymore?
Possibly I'm not sure. Shift E is definitely close blinds
There is a general move away from these kinds of options being in right click. Makes sense that it wouldn't use your worn clothes as ingredients
i see in crafting menu it says cant use worn clothes. o.O this is new thing, no wonder it doesnt let me rip everything i see
Should only be your worn clothes afaik
Way harder to find clothes to rip after this change
Its, idk bugged? Anyway frustrating as hell "feature" where you need to know what kind of cloth is rippable, take it to your EQ, and then youre able to rip it by right click on item
Same with electric watches, youre not able to deconstruct them directly in Zed's body, you need to take it to your EQ and then, if you have a screwdriver, option to dismantle appears
Come on Indiestone, just give us the broken version of multiplayer in its own branch T.T
