Its going to be here whether we like it or not, and frankly the nee menu artworks that were briefly introduced to the game didnt stink wholly of it, i still viewed it as mostly original work, which is good enough for me. Theres also other games that make limited use of ai, like delta V rings of saturn on steam for its portraits, and it really doesnt impact anything at all
I didn't even know about the ai stuff but I literally winced when I saw this in game for the first time
I did like all the effects on the main menu though, that was great
it's this in between of realistic and cartoony and the lighting that feels like an unfinished 3d render that ruins it for me
I think that having it be more realistic like the cover art or going full on tounge in cheek cartoony like the steam card art would have turned out well
I see it as highly likely that the artwork we have here was either ai-assisted or simply styled in a way where it triggers a person's "oh, this might be ai" sense
Which wouldnt be surprising, maybe their artist has just gone down a path to make their work look like that by default as they progressed, i dont know

NMRiH has a bunch of different artworks for its loading screens, and you can tell some of them were made by different people/with a different idea in mind.
I also like the detail that this image has a bunch of in-universe stuff in it like brands.
so it helps with making it recognizable when looking at it outside of its source.

that is what it looked like to me that the artist's style just "evolved" from the car pic to that one in the hospital and after 10 years or so just got better over time, i really liked that hospital picture

I've got a question, there is a "bug" when the zombie is crawling through a fence, and its on ground the outline of hitable zombie is highlighted (like its in range or something), but instead of stomping character trying to push the zombie which in result gives nothing but just reset the CD of hit, and stuck you in delayed action, and the zombie is easly possible to fall you down. Do you know if its going to be fix or its intended?
That certainly doesn't sound intentional. We'll need more information to make sure. If this is happening on a fresh save without mods then I'd recommend filing a bug report and we can investigate the issue.

I think using AI as a tool for something like dev assets is fine, just actually bother to replace them when whatever you are supposed to release is ready to release
besides the morals my biggest gripe with it is just how same-y most of the generative ai images look, the few artstyles AI can do slowly turn into comic sans, but also vibecoding in production, that very much scares me
In my opinion ai is not necessarily bad. It strongly depends on its use and what people do with it. I come from an industry where people need to send us their art/graphics for their products and personally I prefer if it's ai or made with ai instead of something that has been clearly made in paint
yeah, that would fall under the dev assets category, i do use AI generated textures when testing new things, but i generally still force have an artist friend draw me up some actual texture for anything release related, its a tool, not the entire process which is how a lot of people seem/want to use it

would also be interesting to have some advanced medical, so stuff like fluid/blood management, proper wound treatment instead of just "yeah you kinda just slap a bandage on it and wait" would also give more of a reason to play doctor/nurse for multiplayer runs

Tbf, grid maintenance is a nightmare so it just stopping working when there is no one to maintain it does make sense
if 99% of the population died out then im sure the remaining people who have any idea how to maintain large grids like that are too busy dealing with their own stuff

Yea about mp and animals, as long as some random guy can walk up to your walls and fire a gun to spook your animals, we’re going to have a bad time. All someone has to do to grief you is make a loud noise close to your base and your animals will break all walls and objects. Unless that’s changed this update, I did only skim the patch notes

the animations are there in debug only cars you can spawn in, they have for years, they're just not happy with them for some reason

Remove more of these random context menu options that have no use so we have some consistency here. If someone wants to smash a window, let them swing a weapon at it or use the context menu for vehicles (v). If someone wants to view the mechanics of a car, let them figure out it's under the hood. If someone wants to forage, they can literally just click the foraging button on the left of their screen (the phrase "Investigate This Area" is a terrible phrase for it fyi).

My point is that, if they really want to remove right click context options, barricades was the worst place to start.
Removing foraging would have gone unnoticed, most wouldn't have cared, and it could have eased people into this new thing of less right clicking.

I'm okay with where they're going with the removal of as many right click options as possible, but I just think it was a bad starting point
They could literally just delete these context options and that would be that, end of it, update done, the systems are already in place to do it another way. Barricades being moved was out of left field and threw some people off in a bad way, obviously it's for testing, but it would have just been easier ya know.
They should also add voice volume. You can't whisper in multiplayer, which can ruin a lot of the action in the game.

Not out of left field, Building tile objects on the map was moved to the new menu, including things that were historically very different, campfires, barricades. Those other options you mentioned are a good point, I agree they could also be removed.

there was no sitting down in chairs in B41 unless it was a mod

It most definitely recovered exertion faster. Is it possible you are referring to the basically hard cap on exertion? Eventually regardless of using the rest function you are forced to sleep eventually. It's a mechanic that was added in 2014

I'm saying that the bar that would go while you were resting was seemingly arbitrary, since it would stop sometimes before stamina was fully recovered, or vice versa

the only times that the bar worked differently for me was when i using using trait mods
but in vanilla gameplay it worked fine
and with stats bars you could tell that it was 100% correct

Hello! I’ve recently updated to Build 42.11 (unstable) but unfortunately it’s been too unstable for me to play. I would like to roll back to the previous Build 42.10.
However, I can’t find it in the Steam Betas menu – only Build 41 versions are listed. Could you please provide a beta branch code or a way to access Build 42.10 or older?

For the unstable branch they generally don't allow access to older builds (at least in B42, they did a few times in B41) - I usually recommend to people to create a copy of the steamapps project zomboid data and then make sure to create a shortcut, and then add "-nosteam" to the target, that makes it so you will never have to upgrade if you launch it. Unfortunately that doesn't help you get back to 42.10, but might be helpful in the future

i imagine they'll be added maybe as a higher tier loot that spawns in military and gun stores

Hmmm, I just played 42.11 unmodded. I was able to fight against multiple zombies while still having combat debuffs. The stomp is really OP... critical hits instantly, and effectively overrides the combat debuffs, making it feel as if the depression, tiredness, fatigue, and painful moodles don't really mean much. 🤔
The only thing that's probably important to note, I have to lure zombies 1 by 1. Can't really manage when more than 3 zombies are chasing me.

in 42 chat someone told me to check tire pressure and that helped with some towing for me

Does anyone knows how exactly fishing works now? Is it fully random, or there are any "tactics"? I have feeling like there is something that trigger the fish catching, like some specific movement, but i cant be sure
You can reel while fishing but the bobber should remain within the "bubble" area

there was some words about it, that it is technically possible with the new crafting frame work to have machines process things indepent of the users input, but it was stated to be a demo of what the new framework can do, not a 100 gurantee that it comes in
