#Game hour-glassing on loading of saved run
35 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
This log does not show you loading any save
Did you use any mods on the save and when was the save created?
There were no mods. I just press continue, it loads the map and hourglass spinning CPU with me standing outside shed
Will check create time, could have been 42.9
Here is the last log before I started having the issue, it may have better environment information.
Ok, I renamed the options.ini file (and turned debug on), and now my save loads!
Dang. Nope. Still broken.
Yeah still nothing here, can you instead share the logs.zip file from the Zomboid folder?
here you go (thank you!)
This works, it looks like the game runs out of memory, which I havent really seen often
How much RAM does your current PC have and do you have anything running in the background?
So, something I had just done, and I did notice slowness after I did this - I scythe'd all the grass at the small farm - pretty much the entire pasture, around the sunflower pasture, barn, front yard, around driveway - it was a lot of scything, and it seemed like such a change impacted Zomboid performance.
I hae 8G on the m1 mac
I will kill a bunch of shit, have monitor up, and see what I get out of the monitor when I try and launch
Series of screen shots -
- just steam up
- Zomboid at main menu (continue/load screen)
- At "Click to start"
- Can only show the graph, cause zomboid hour-glassed then crashed.
For comparison, I started a new sandbox game and took a snap at the "click to start" and then after I loaded in and could wander around without crashing
I copied my save over to a Linux box with more memory, and it is working now. If there's additional studying that moves the game forward, happy to test/supply info from the "lower resources" mac.
(I spoke too soon, it locks up on my 12G memory Linux box also)
I must be at the edge, if I run htop while I launch, it dies. If I don't it's ok
Could you send the save over to me for investigation?
I am betting 1 beer that my scything of so much grass has borked this run.
Yeah I just have a spam of infinite errors once I try to load in, I have not seen these errors before
I will have to forward this to the devs in that case, not sure I can do much for the save. I ran it with 64gb PC and it didnt run out of RAM
So its likely just the errors that are causing the issue
You may be able to save it if you load in with a second character disable 3D items?
I will give it a shot. Otherwise I will flush it. Thank you
Oh, there's a lot of loose grass
I didn't need another character, just change that setting
walking around with a trash can getting rid of all the loose grass and see if that fixes it
Glad to hear it in that case
It's probably the grass version of chickenpocolypse
