if they plan on adding MP back when B43 releases personally i wouldn't care since MP and NPCs go hand in hand and should be worked on together to achieve the most compatibility, some players probs wouldnt agree with that but it would deffo make MP rerelease a lot bigger
if they go that route at least we wont get a half baked MP and half baked NPCs

Not being optimistic when I say at most it will be 2 years
It’s almost a meme at this point how long we have been waiting for npcs (even tho they existed at a point in time) and I don’t think they want to stagnate as the game is growing in popularity etc everyday, hence there should be more of a motivation to get things out at a reasonable pace

pvp, people with gun shot wounds, exhausted players, broken legs from jumping a high ledge, there is a number of ways it would be aplicable
You can still move with a broken bone, a deep wound, or when exhausted. Complete exhaustion is rare unless you're very irresponsible and carrying a player would likely max out your encumbrance, which would counter-act its usefulness
i think the lack of upper body contact is probably a good thing where zombie corpses are concerned, thats just asking for a case of the nasties
there's nothing wrong with a situational feature like that, i'm sure the RP community would love it, and they have expressed interest in that group of players and accomadating for them
it is a problem when it's highly niche because this concerns the work of developers, they have no reason to work on and implement a major mechanic like that when most of its uses would be for roleplay
modders will be able to do that for you at some point

uhm actually i think i found a bug with foraging
I used to find stones very quickly, then when I activated the specialized stone search, it took me 5 minutes to find one. When I disabled the specialization, I started finding lots of stones.
Normally, the average search for stones should have increased, but here it seems to have decreased, not to mention the fact that I can find almost nothing else.
I haven't made any precise measurements, I'm aware that it's a feeling but i think that there's a problem.

Feedback about the ragdoll system:
- I think the friction (the deceleration weight) should be increased a bit, so the movements are slowed down faster when the ragdolled zombie corpses are gunned down.
Otherwise, the arms flailing would keep flailing nonstop.
not all hammers work, you cant do it with things like claw hammers iirc, but big hammers like stone hammers or club hammers should work just fine
its also possible youre doing something wrong, like rightclicking on something thats not a deposit
or they just made it impossible to break deposits with a stone hammer this patch, i do not know
Please let nasKo know what parts of it looked bad for ragdoll physics. They're looking for constructive feedback to improve this in the next patch.

Anyone know why ragdoll physics work with vehicles but not for guns on my end? I do have a simple gun mod and had Advanced trajectroy installed but recently disabled it. No luck.

i think dead plants being more common would increase the realism alot more

theres way too many living plants even in forests it gives off this "perfect" feel too much
if you go in a real forest there will be tons of dead bushes or shrubs just around (would make the sticks on the ground seem more realistic if theres dead plants they could have came from)

another thing we need to see are tomato fields
one of the most common field types
corn isn't the only thing field farmed, tomatoes are incredibly common in fields
you can even field farm tomatoes in florida and arizona
erosion of plants over time should increase the yield of edible and poisonous plants.
vines also have a severe lack of crops associated with them in game
overtime you'd see wild vines with berries poisonous or not
wild grapes
i could make a whole paragraph of a reddit post on things the game needs
mostly all erosion additions or new crops and field locations
and road changes most importantly
including the severe lack of manhole covers

For MP have they confirmed if corpse ragdolls will be client or server side?
If they're toggleable in options it implies client side but for containers being generated I'd imagine server side would be better for tracking corpse locations

easily my least favourite change from the update
it's not as big of a deal as it felt like at first but yeah, it's really not something i'm fond of in terms of game-feel- just feels really awkward having the direction you're running randomly get changed, then having your character do the turn-around animation to resume the direction you're already holding

Your fitness affects that! Higher fitness you don't get sleepy too quickly. On my 42.7 run i've maxed fitness and had wakeful trait. I had to use sleeping pills for my character to keep decent sleep schedule

Played some of Build 42.8.1 and the zombies ragdoll physics for getting hit with the car looks nice, other than some getting stuck in the windshield. The zombies getting shot with firearms need some work, they should rag doll once only when they've been killed because it creates confusion for myself I don't know about others. I think the zombies ragdoll physics with firearms should be determined by the caliber/ammo.

Yeah in some ways, some melee weapons should ragdoll them more than ammo. Like if I full on smacked a zombie (which is already unsteady) with a sledgehammer or large mace it should fall over dead or not, but not a 9mm.
Excited to see how they do melee ragdolls, could really liven up melee combat. Im not sure if its a bug or intended but it seems like zombies are knocking eachother over a bit already in melee which is hilarious.

What I can say is that it shuldent be limited to killing blows, this don't .akensense to me.
I think enabling it for every blow would instead make melee combat a lot more interesting if allowed for every blows with strength and other conditionals taken in to account.

A blow with a knife for example shouldn't knowdown and ragdolls them.
But a character with great strength that use a two handed blunt weapon should have an "high chance" of knokdown/ragdoll the target, every it.
This doesn't mean that zombie should fly on air, but send back to the ground for example yes.
And make sense for every blows (if you are not tyred), not only for the last one.

If you look to actual pistol shooting they don't necessary make them fly. They have a "stopping effect".
But still have an effect on them also if they don't fall down or on air.

The intensity of the effect should vary according with several factors.
Also if you have high strength and a two handed weapon this shuldent mean that every time should send them in to "Skyrim mode", but there should be an higher chance to trow them back. But the majority of it still could simple slow or stun them.

If a zombie enters ragdoll state in any way, even with the smallest blow, he will fall down and take 5 seconds or so to get up anyway. Unless devs somehow allow them to remain standing during ragdoll state, but have no idea how they can achieve that.

i think my biggest issues with the ragdolls is how jank the transition is between the 2 states and the weird almost weightlessness that they have
i think if some of the joints were stiffened/loosened at random before going limp entirely could help with the weird death poses aswell, or some sort of blending of a death animation and the ragdoll

DOWNSIDES to having Ragdoll physics:

You cannot pin a zombie on the ground after they ragdolled and collapsed, but are not dead. You either need precision standing or something else, or you risk them getting up and biting you without fail.

You cannot loot zombies if they ragdolled and stopped with a pose stuck on vehicles. This might also apply to things like being wedged between tiles.

when you can make the advanced kiln right away and the advance furnace is actually cheaper to build than the advance forge
btw you're still locked behind nails and a lighter regarding primitive runs
imo they should add some wooden nails for low lvls up until you get metalworking going, just for the very basic carpentry crafts
that was a dev blog they told us what was going to land one day, that day has come, at the time of that blog they haven't even started working on them as they stated it's exploratory
we don't know when they finished working on their first iteration so they could have finished this part months ago and then tested it up to the point it can be pushed out
Because the fact that the advanced versions are as expensive as the primitive versions is clearly a balancing issue, so I'd rather start with the primitive and advanced versions afterwards, maybe they'll fix that. @rose kraken

they were probably prioritizing other stuff. to be honest, ragdolls don't seem to effect gameplay too much especially not positively with how wacky they are right now.
I like this feature a lot. For me it make world feel a lot more alive, all thing are more tangible and for me it's probably best feature from years (thinking to future melee ragdolls).
But I can understand people that want MP... Anyway if they didn't activated it yet probably is very difficult to implement it properly..

Feedback for the devs:
Cars hitting hordes of zombies, of at least 20 to 30 zombies in terms of numbers, should not slow the vehicle down too much when hitting them with ragdolling zombies.
The cars should hit the zombies like really flying!
20-30 zombies is going to be the weight of most cars in this setting. Sending all of them flying should basically cost all of the momentum of the car just because of conservation of kinetic energy.
Zomboid has (or had) a problem towards taking too little hits to fully remove all momentum, but blasting through that many zeds without the car slowing down is going too far the other way.

I agree for the most part, but a car is not just weight. It has an engine powering it. And you would be hard pressed to stop a 100 horsepower car from moving with even 70 people

Tbf it's just math tho. But without going into nitty gritty. 100 is roughly equivalent to 100 draft horses pulling something. 70 normal people obviously don't have the power of 100 horses
Now comes the traction thing. Without sudden increases in torque to actively try to break traction modern tires can "hook" onto asphalt for about 250 horsepowers
Not counting in other assistance devices like traction control etc.

Not really i play with strong trait so its not too bad
muscle strain also becomes less of an issue when you've gained experience with the weapon

Questions for devs: Is the new ragdoll effects still actually 2D but tricking GPUs into thinking it's 3D? Or is that actually 3D effects?
I think it follows the same thing as the vehicles and 3d models for props and such
