#42.4.1 UNSTABLE Released

Can we smelt down jewelry, to make weapons out of these soft materials?
No
Awww.
You can make other jewelry however iirc
you can make almost everything just like with usual iron
That's not what I wanted to do. :/
a golden katana
I would love to make some golden daggers
Katana cannot be smelted from.
If I recalled.
I dont think i can stress how awful a golden blade would be haha
They would break and bend immediately, theyre very malleable
I just wanted to make them
Swing the blade, gift the blade
Makes multiplayer roleplaying more honorable.
a golden longsword then
s-so minecraftr was right all this tijme...
Is the new trait "Inventive" as good as it seems?
yes!!! literally +1 to all the crafting stuff
Anyone know the closest military area to riverside?
So it's incredible and is gonna get mega nerfed? Nice
I did get the option to melt it down using propane torch, but a lot of jewelry to do so
i wish there was a renewable way to weld in this game
That's what the Blacksmithing is used for.
Eventually, you wane off of welding, and you go straight to Blacksmithing.
Oh
That's why you don't get unlimited propane tanks.
But blacksmithing is renewable and unlimited.
is plumbing back?
In theory you could run out of
Metal lol but I guess you can smelt weapons zombies spawn stabbed with
I believed you can also forage for scrap metals
there will be ore nodes as well, they showed a picture of one a while back
Oh yes that’s right cool
Check last patch note. #patchnotes
Oh wow, this is a big PSA. https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/1j3w6lh/424_psa_do_not_drink_from_water_pumps_they_are/
yup, they are also already in the tiles file
just not implemented in the game
they said there would be infinite procedurally generated forest, right? Is that implemented?
not yet
In the context of the game, welding is a thing of the past, as it is a modern technology bound line of work. Blacksmithing was added to slowly replace welding as you progress further into the save
Is the angle headed light the only one that can clip on the alice belt?
but isnt welding really hard to develop?
like skill wise
Found a fix for this issue temporarily:
remove "-fluid 10.0 [Water;TaintedWater]," from all recipes in recipe_buckets.txt. This enables the recipe to function
the welding skill? Its definitely a bit limited,i think, but so are some other skills, such as knapping
the less options there is for a 0 skill character to earn xp for that specific skill, the harder and more tedious it'll be
skills such as electronics aren't too bad though cuz you can earn xp just through disassembling everything electronic you come across
clocks, radios, walkie talkies, calculators, other junk
from a realistic point of view though i can def see welding being much more difficult to become adept at when starting from scratch as opposed to more primitive stuff like wood carving
certified welders, doctors, engineers, mechanics, all these would be considered very valuable people in a post apocalypse
Eh, they are still annoying. Each skill should have an actual use from level 0 so it's more fun to grind since we can actually do stuff with it
realistically doesnt make sense to know how to construct a makeshift electronic device when being completely unknowledgeable though
Mhm sure but I can learn it by dismanteling stuff...
Or how I perfectly know every single car part and their exact condition
Again this game is not 100% realistic there are many unrealistic elements
UPDATE for the water trough fix
Seems like if you add food then add water it fixes the values.
works every time
Furthermore, the water taint seems to be specifically a tarp construction issue.
I replaced my tarp barrel collector with a garbage barrel collector in debug and the water is fine now.
Interesting, thanks for the info
Now my chicken don't need to dehydrate
for welding you do need a torch, mask and maybe copious amounts of propane but to get started all you need to do is disassemble car wrecks
what are you trying to say
Barbed wire baseball bat when?
We can put barbed wire in a broom but why we can't put it on a baseball bat?
Who tf puts barbed wire in a broom?
do you know if animals can drink from rain collectors
I had a cow dying of thirst and i think he drank from it
not sure though
this is the same thought i had earlier
If we can wrap barbed wire around a broom, we can definitely wrap it around a bat item too
atleast now you can also reinforce it with tin cans which increases durability and damage slightly
My running theory is AMC trademarked barbed wire baseball bats through the walking dead lmao
nah thats stupid
you cant trademark something like that
very vague
indiestone just for some reason decined not to add it (yet)
even though a baseball bat is probably the first thing someone would put barbed wire on
should have said /s lol
Thats what throughs are for
After tin cans you can learn the sheet metal baseball bat which is the best long blunt weapon in the game atm, but I use the long mace cause its drippier lol
yeah but rain collectors hold 4x the amount of Welded Troughs
Rain collector are unreachable for animals. It wouldn't make sense if they could drink from it
Aw
Then just build more or just take the water from the raincollector and fill the throughs up
o yeah, i actually meet the skill requirement for that and i have all the necessary components (including an extra wooden baseball bat) so i'll do that after i return from my (hopefully) fruitful raid to the local gas station
carpenter profession my beloved
Bro doesn't know about game copyrights xdddd
Behold, patented dialogue wheel.
Anyhow, this is irrelevant to the patch chat, so won't bring it up in here.. . . ||(any more)||
I woke up at 11.10 this morning
Chads
Not exactly. There's barbed wire bats in Dead Island too
I remember PUBG tried to sue another game because the frying pan used as a weapon
But Team Fortress 2 did it first
It was 100% a joke haha but I wouldn't put it past them to try. I feel like barbed wire bat has been a weapon for so long
I have one in my house myself to deal with robbers
the "need surface" requirement is really crippling if you live in the woods. I know you can use boulders as surfaces, but it's still unreasonably difficult to do something simple like assemble a stone axe
Hey if you are the magic writing man who writes things for the game, I like the things that you write!
Would be cool if you could crouch and the floor becaming the surface required
You're one fr
Oblivion was released in 2006... And this game have that Dialogue Wheel mechanic...
This smells Bethesda for me
I can make a barbed wire bat at home. Does that make it a copyright infringement, even when it looks completely different to one from a specific movie/game?
I can name my child "Mario" and Nintendo will sue me?
Undead deer, hooray!
Project Zomboid is now a horror game.
you should be able to sit on the ground and maybe just make it take twice as long to use the floor
Yeah
Nintendo sent lawyers to some Brazilian dude's house
Did you not hear the legendary Luigi?
#FreeLuigi
yeah but thats reaching the extremes of the paranoia and greed that companies can get to
I would show them our famous "trezoitão"
even still, imagine if nintendo tried to sue every guy called mario in existence, or patented the name 💀
they'd probably do that if they had the money
Rule of thumb, a corporation never has the consumers interest in mind.
They must be dragged screaming and kicking by law.
still dont see how a barbed wire bat would be copyright infringement on anything
maybe if you make it look exactly like that one iconic bat from the walking dead
but that would be obviously deliberate
I just want to wear a leather jacket, a red scarf and blow some zombos heads
Mcdonalds tried to sue macdonalds in the UK iirc which is where the name originates from
just because you can sue dont mean its immediately copyright infringement
its just people being greedy idiots
They sued on copyright lol
no idea what your point is
Lucille ™️ is copyrighted
It's over for u, vro...
They're sending hitmen to ur house to silence u
this pops up on my screen when i try to drink water form o sink, any fix?
Send your save file to the devs on the forum. ZIP it up nicely.
Sounds like your bug is unique to your game save.
What's in your inventory? How many bottles and what they're holding? Looks similar to one we already identified
2 bottles, one bottle with soda and one with water
both in inventory not in the backpack
Not the same case, that error seems related to items that can be washed actually
you are right
Are you using amod to wash clothes or something like that? The file in your screenshot isn't from the game. My suggestion is to turn that off if that's the case, you no longer need it
i took down my clothes and now i can acces the sink
il put on the clothes piece by piece and see wich one of them gives the error
thats the only loot that i have in my inventory and it gives me the error
Is it a modded loot?
@gusty hound the leather gloves give the error
no
i only equiped the leather gloves and right clicked the sink
Have you made sure you disabled all mods, and the leather glove still triggers the error?
and it gives me the error
Once we excluded any mods, then yeah it is a legitimate bug.
only have the lifestyle mod
You gotta disable that mod
il try on a fresh save
Ok
looks like it was because of the mod, ty
didnt think it has anything to do with clothes
it only does animations
This is why we don't trust mods. Bugs will occur.
In unexpected places, too.
living in the woods is decently enjoyable, but there's still a lot to be desired.
My biggest two problems are the "surface required" and "needs light" requirements. You should be able to craft on the ground and in the dark, just slower and maybe a higher chance of failing
im just saying i could definitely bundle 4 logs or assemble an axe in pitch black darkness
Anyone know what counts as roofed area for animals? This doesn't seem to cut it
for the surface you can take a log and turn it into a trunk-surface iirc
or something along those lines
pretty sure "roofed" doesn't even exist in game. It's either inside or outside
so what you want is a actual room
A pre-built building with a roof or a patio.
Anything else cannot be used as a roof to make the zone marked as a roofed area.
Well poop, player made ones wont work eh
Send feedback to devs
yeah I will for sure
We can request for them to make it work
does it uh... matter anyway? Will they get sick in the rain?
It might...
We don't know if the animals will get sick / ill.
And the animal husbandry system isn't complete yet.
Devs are just focused on something else.
What if you de-zone it, then re-zone it?
If it still doesn't detect it, then yeah, I guess the game hasn't had support for player-made objects.
not true
it needs support + an actual roof on top
I have a 'room' / barn missing 2/4 walls but since it's fully covered up it means it's roofed
Ah, I just heard that roofs don't actually do anything since only "inside" areas block rain and stuff
Don't you need a saw? Can't make a flint saw without a surface. You have to start with one of the big boulders.
Flint saws don't cut logs
No point in doing so
I don't know what that item does.
You need a saw to build the chopping block surface Almahr was talking about, a flint saw works for that
hmm, you can use a flint saw to turn a copper saucepan into scraps, but not saw a log?
Looks like it's limited to some bone carving, making traps, wooden armor, a few other wooden items, sawing large branches and scrapping copper
is there a bonesaw?
I know you might not like this answer so much but for a temporary fix. I do believe the tile at the top of the staircase counts as a roof tile so which means you need many staircases. I know its stupid but the only fix I know.
I just checked it and it does work
Lmao wow
Two story buildings. Tested it out one of my runs, built a two story and it counted as all roofed
Oh ok these are good tips. Did anyone find out if it actually matters for the animal?
animals still immortal?
certain animals get stressed without shelter like cows and I think sheep. Which can lead to animals attacking you or spilling your milk that you get from them. But they only gain stress without shelter while during a storm.
Ohhh, I get why now. Your stairs are put outside of the zoned area (your fenced-in area). From there, if your ceilings don't have any support underneath it, it's not a "roof".
You have to put the stairs inside the zoned area.
I ran some rabbits over earlier
They haven’t gotten back up yet
i mean the animals around the map they still surviving for months?
my last run in 42 i played for months and the animals in the farms around survived without diyng for starvation
I assume the animals aren’t technically “there” until you load the chunk they’re in if that’s what you mean
Probably not without the latest update.
no no they were in a farm near where i had my base and so they were in the same cell and they survived for month even without food
so that mean they die now?
Oh really? But the floors had support with the wall and the posts there doesn't that count
I can try to rebuild but put the stairs inside this time?
were they not just eating grass?
nope it was a field of only dirt and i took out all the food to see if they die or not
Yes, put the stairs inside.
Probably. I don't know.
Is there a way to select 42.3.1 instead of 42.4.1? The newest update brickedmy mods
cope
wait. you cant cut logs with a flint saw?
isnt that the entire point of having a saw?
You can use a flint saw to disassemble furniture
what furniture
i live in the freaking woods
Sounds like a you problem :þ
Unmodded, tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Not sure whats causing error count to climb infinitely / having a glitched out health box.
Yeah, unfortunately. Flint saws are just small paring knife-sized saws.
Set yourself to Debug Mode, and then check to see if you have any info properties where you get a NaN.
how's the controller support with fishing??
yes it's purpose is for wilderness survivals
Change the sidebar thing in ui settings
in some rows world just start working after 3 unsucsessful attempts of launching. How? idk
bUCKET BROKEN
I am sorry for my ignorance, someone can explain to me what is this rmc 3d for precise positioning?
Right click on a placed item , u will get an option to change the item precisely
U mean rhe small ui for xyz axis?
Yes
Ahhhh ok thank u!
I tried is amazing but a bit annoying cause everytime u use that object reset to the original position they should allow the item to keep the new stance
Yeah maybe its a wip , hope that gets added too
It will be fire to have standing objects or for keep weapons and tools on the rack
Yeah its already a very cool addition but maybe not fully complete or implemented
rabies from the raccoons
Does anybody else also have the ISHealthPanel.lua spam error ?
Someone already reported it and mentioned a solution by changing a context in ISHealth.lua file , but his solution didn’t work for me
Speaking of the advanced placement, is it meant that the Z value is the y axis? Or is it some weird isometric thing I don’t understand lol
Not sure what that is
Can’t open the health panel? Any mods? New or old save?
I found that the only way to stop the errors from popping up is that when starting a save or a world u should not have the health panel open , only the health panel being open starts the errors to occur and changing the panel to info , protection and other panels stops the errors , so the only way to stop the errors is when starting or entering a save change the health panel to other panels and then re-enter the save
No mods
🤔 weird. Will likely get fixed in the next patch
Part of the fun of unstable lol
u can check the forums for bug report , someone else also mentioned it
I’ll try that later, not home rn
Yeah i think it will be another hotfix hopefully
Hello, is there currently any way to create makeshift lighting that can light up the inside of a built structure?
i remember trying it with a lantern a few patches ago but it didnt work
I'll take that as a no
I would be so skibidi sigma to get that rizzing MP patch
maybe in a few months
We'll see you skibideeing around December 31 2025. ™️
I cant wait that slaying long
That's the neat part. You do.
use error magnifier mod so see what's causing the error
Dear developers, How many times have I written about you changing the color or quality in your game title! It burns out pixels on my monitor and the game title on the left then stays on my monitor screen for a while. The same problem will occur if you keep the game paused for more than 10 minutes by pressing the button "ESC" Because of this problem, I can't enjoy the game properly.
Recently I started to notice that the game name when in the menu becomes brighter and brighter with every minute and after some time (about 5-10 minutes) on a black background when I am not in the game I see the game name Which was reflected on the monitor matrix
Std lib
thats a monitor issue
But I haven't seen anything like this in any other programs or games.
White on black static images will do that.
Especially in the game menu where the screen refreshes at max FPSs.
You need to limit them to 60 FPS, or less.
I already have everything at 60 fps.
look up your model / troubleshoot and see if there is any similarities from people that use the same model as you
my monitor has pixel refresh which helps with that, maybe yours has something similar?
I don't really understand this so it would be hard for me to say.
I don't think there's any point in changing something because of such a small thing.
oh shit that was for oled monitor too btw lol , if you don have a oled i dunno
Then you will have to live with the issue.
The inscription disappears after a while. The problem is not critical but it adds discomfort.
Thank you for your help.
Anyone tested how exactly newest patch balanced butchering?
I hope they didn't butcher it
I just wanna know if butchering was balanced for the better, more meat and/or calories 😄
minus roadkill that got nerfed hard
As if it obliterating my engine wasn't enough of a nerf already
I loved hunting deer with a car, a full family of deer is plenty of meat even if it cannot sustain my weight, but now if proper hunting gives you quality meat with the calories that'd be nice
Roadkill got nerfed not normal hunting buffed
that would be odd given butchering balance was mentioned twice in separate occasion and road kill part was entirely elsewhere in the notes
I could be wrong but iirc roadkill was the only note mentioning meat quality
balance can refer to other things too, but guess someone will come by the revelation of the truth
Hopefully
also time since death affects the quality and state, too
The newest console update for 42 breaks being able to split screen with controllers, very sad..
Anyone gave it a go?
I only saw Retanaru doing it, and said butchering is worse than the previous patch.
Is the stubble option in character selection broken for anyone else?
Carved buckets of cement are somehow broken again after being fixed
I was planning on playing this long weekend but my game keeps crashing and zombies are spawning inside my house. Anyone else having this happen?
I hate eagle eyed zombies being possible in apocalypse
It’s so frustrating when you get spotted from miles away and get swarmed as soon as you exit a building
“Man i hate having zombies have good vision which i toggled on purposely”
So true
Meanwhile i have zombie toughness, navigation, memory and vision set to random
Paranoia simulator
It's not supported. Still have to use m/KB to fish and farm
roadkills dont weild same amount of meat as butchered animals on the hook
if the animal has been dead for some time, the meat will be poorly cut and low in weight
beside some line saying balanced butchering further
we don't know
and that line was thrown in for laughts I believe cauz it doesn't tell us anything to be honest
and butchering an animal on the hook will grant better cuts and high weight meats
always butcher them on a hook
at butchering 7 and above, you will.get some great results
I want Project Zomboid to survive as long as possible
This marvel of a game
Shouldn't end up forgotten
why would it end up forgotten ? the game has been in EA since the birth of time and the player base keeps increasing as they push out builds so I don't see that happening in the near future
yeah there isnt really quite anything like PZ lol
as tortuous the waiting is for new patches, it is always worth it
Theres actually still a bug with the hook that causes some animals to yield less. Seems to be if the animal is very big because it gets resize to fit the ui of the hook and the meat reduced. look at this side by side of the exact same cow in a copy of a save butchered on the ground vs hook :
That doesn't keep it from getting forgotten
Bro I need multiplayer so me and my gf can steal raccoons from the woods and keep them as pets
treat your gf well so she'll be there in 6 months when MP gets here
maybe bait them or some sort?
what? He literally said in apocalypse. they're random either almost blind or eagle eyed. (or just normal)
6 months😭
better set expectations low for less disappointment, it took a year to bring B41 MP since unstable, so 9 months in total for B42 is an improvement
i started playing when b41 already had multiplayer and i gotta tell you that b42 is just hard. I'm only a beginner but amount of zombies seems like way too high
not even amount of zombies, the time when you get exhausted is (with max strength and 8 fitness)
the zeds sure are a proper horde especially at any location with guns. Muscle strain at lower weapon skill and strenght makes sure you are not the Doom Slayer at the start
I could kill plenty of zeds at weapon skill 5 (with just 4 strenght, fitness affects exhaustion, not muscle strain)
but i still wish they'd buff stamina our character has.
at that point I'd be more afraid of massive weight loss than stamina, more zeds you kill, the more calories you burn and more food and butter/fish/rabbit you need
don't really think that's a problem
I get tired after playing football with wife's lil sis for 5 mins, I sure as fuck can't swing a big weapon at humans for hours
like actually i REALLY like this game but the default difficulty makes me sad as a beginner
sandbox is what I play always, so you can ensure your experience is per your expectations
game is realistic but there should be fun since overrealistic games are just obnoxious
I play sandbox, too but with minor changes
so i'm basically playing apocalypse
suppose the "intended experience" is bit hard for beginners, especially in b42
but then at least there's options to disagree with the intended gameplay
yeah but i like it more if default setting is kind of friendly to guys who wants to chill or beginners.
i mean pretty hard but not like real hardcore
I find sandbox more realistic because I can pretend to be a scientist and try to imagine a far more realistic zombie apocalypse, to a degree. Real zombie apocalypse as per Knox Virus is just not possible so there's always limits 😄
i mean even when there were only teasers of b42 we could already see that in unpopular locations the amount of zombies doubled or tripled
just go to Guns Unlimited and you'll find out the zombies are unlimited there too
on 1x population...
16x would be hilarious
you can make it more fun for yourself if needed. Theres tons of sandbox settings
like who in their right mind will go to the closed store in zombie apocalypse with nothing but watches on their hand
Personally i turn off zombie respawns and only make the infection transfer through bites
I heard americans really love their 2nd amendment
I know, but i want the default to be easier than now, even though they wanted to make it harder
a fair request, but it might stay that way
Devs probably have no intention to make it easier since everyone will just point at Sandbox mode, some games are "meant" to be hard
but as we can see no one got inside so what's the purpose to go into a horde of zombie with literally nothing and die there
Dark Souls won't be made easier because some people can't handle it, why should PZ
It is my belief that there probably isnt much incentive to really dig into it and tweak the "gamemode" presets because the game relies so heavily on its sandbox aspect
Though it'd be nice if some attention was diverted to that
no one sane will judge anyone playing on whatever settings after all, fun triumphs over prestige of doing something harder
bad comparison. Dark souls IS a hardcore game while PZ is a REALISTIC game.
its a hardcore realistic game, but not full-on realistic, it's not all black & white like that
but PZ Is still early access, ergo devs can decide to make PZ a hardcore game. And we DO have permadeath...Dark Souls does not 😄
that's what i was saying a lot
nothing ever is
yeah cuz if they'd make it over realistic no one would ever play it
realistically a Knox Virus infection would not reanimate the dead at all, and even if, zeds would die in few weeks to starvation (no energy, not possible to move and have functional muscles) or would just wither to bones by time or animal predation (humans without intelligence are not an apex predator once wildlife realizes they're pretty simple snack that does not predate on non-humans)
but thats a discussion that is pointless because PZ is a game
Realism is a fun word, but no game can fully be realistic!
I always thought project zomboid's preset gamemodes are bullshit-levels of unfair so i tweaked the settings to be more fair
skill issue
I lowered the muscle strain multiplier slightly, turned off respawns (it makes no sense for zombies to magically spawn out of thin air + zombie migration was improved, so zombies gradually accumulate into large hordes overtime and those hordes move places)
I mean b41 apocalypse was perfect. even like that people still died no matter how pro they were🤷♂️
not perfect to me
But would respawn just mean zeds migrate to Kentucky from other states, as you have a magical barrier preventing you from going out of Kentucky?
in B41 i lowered the starting and peak population as well, it just wasnt great to play
in B42 its much better as zombie distribution is an actual thing, so i didnt change that, i think
I dont like the idea of it because i want to feel the satisfaction as i slowly but surely clear the areas of any zeds, one block at a time
sometimes zeds feel like the wind, the moment a zedless vacuum appears, they start pinpoint-migrating to the vacuum to fill it again, which usually is my base 😄
uhh it's actually pretty great since if you're playing in summer just 2-3 mollies and there you got -300, -400 zombies if not more
but a downside is that fire can destroy stuff you wanted
if youre talking about B41 that doesnt change the fact that zombies were all over the place
I think someone made it work by constructing massive walls out of render/chunk/cell whatever and zeds could not ever respawn-populate a big area because once out of sight, they cannot destroy a wall
i am very much thankful that in B42 you dont have random hordes living in the forest
b42
funnily enough I'm waiting for stable B42 more than MP, MP means friends wanna play with me, but I wanna save a specific playthrough for solo
thats a cheesy way to do it
and I wanna play PZ when I feel like it, not when friends can
just turn down the settings
does anyone main the rosewood map spawn when playing?
there's this court building next to the police station on the edge of the town and its actually crazy how many zeds are near/in there
spawn near fire station, sneak in, find 0 axes, vacate the premises, go school for books, find car, leave Rosewood
on normal zombie population settings ive definitely had a few dozen zombies near the police station and the fire station but the mf rosewood bank and
the large building, they had so many zeds
they just kept coming, i definitely spent a whole ingame day or two trying to clear it all out
still am
what's your time ratio
ok to be fair my day is twice as long as it is normally
theres not that many settings i change but the day lenght is one of them
since it wasnt still a huge-enough horde of zombies that i were engaging, the two molotovs i made (for the first time ever!!) didnt actually work all that well, they probably killed a dozen or two but the rest of the fires consumed the police station LMAO
thankfully i've already looted its insides so nothing was lost
i found around 10 axes/hatchets total, a few crowbars and a lot of other tools
but i generally play the game on day-one, with 2 weeks left before electricity and water stopping
and the loot tables remain unchanged
still, the zombie population here is relatively tame (?)
I've gone through 80% of rosewood and i only have like 700 kills
it'll likely be around 1200 once i'm fully done. i'm not being too pessimistic
b42 has been very axe-poor for me, no fire station ever had a single axe (extremely rare loot setting)
I often end up using a hatchet/crude axe to cut trees
okay well when you have it set to extremely rare, no wonder
I havent really ever touched loot settings so i dont know what the chances of finding this stuff are in practice, especially when set to extremely rare
insanely rare is the lowest (bar none)
I am a loot goblin, if you give me abundant loot, I will never stop hoarding
the loot pile will become big enough to tank FPS and performance
only if you let the loot become a pile on the ground
of course I do, organizing shit is not my forte
i had the problem earlier, but i started sorting all the stuff into their distinct containers + making some extra ones
I scavenge the pile like a feral beast to find anything
Ive been using this bat almost since day one, its crazy how long they last when can-reinforced
ive only had to repair it once so far
wish my metal bat with screws would last as long
but for some reason it lasts less than expected
suppose sheet metal reinforced metal bat would be top tier durability
I think with that specific recipe youre sacrificing longevity for extra damage
some recipes are bound to be like that
correct, someone else confirmed it and i looked it up too
now with carving letting you make baseball bats, can reinforcing might be very nice...
I do have the needed materials to make one. Luckily for me, i also have an extra wooden bat
So i'll go do that once this one gives out, but probably not anytime soon
have you found it somewhere? I also have a maintenance 4 skill, would explain why my condition of the weapon goes down so crazy slow
but can-reinforced and sheet metal-reinforced weaponry generally has high durability
I found an intact metal bat and put screws to it myself, 4 maintenance skill, too
gotcha
it sure did kill zeds hard
in that case its just the unfortunate nature of the crafting recipe
but I prefer durability
indeed, it kills very nicely, i used the weapon in a different B42 save before
5 long blunt skill is pretty nice
Actually can make it again too. I have a metal bat thats been collecting dust in my garage
The benefits of having abundant loot on day one
you can have gradual loot quantity instead of static?
But the first two weeks arent a big challenge, its the longterm thati deem the most fun, especially in B42
Nah dont think so, i think you can make it so loot "refreshes" in buildings after a while (or is that a server setting only?), i worded it poorly my bad
just saying that as i generally play day-one runs (not starting when the water/electricity has already run out and most of the civilisation is ruined, basically), it doesnt bother me much that loot is so abundant, because in a way, it's meant to be
I just hoard stuff and prepare for the longterm in the meantime
skillbooks, exercising, building improvised weapons and expanding the base
getting gas, a generator, and then just slowly clearing out areas of zombies
eventually get into farming too while i improve my existing skills
but truth be told, the more PZ develops as a game, the more there is to do
Now i've been really excited to get waist-deep into blacksmithing, but that is a very end-game activity
for now i dont have the materials/tools/character skills to do it
only improvised carpentry/maintenance weaponry and maybe welding for now
Carpenter profession the goat
damn
guys how do y'all play the b42 in the first month? I'm a player to rush things so i die in first 3 days all the time. Not used to b42 pace
i often use a character that has high strenght, makes fighting zombies much more bearable
try to establish a base somewhere on the outskirts of a town, or perhaps in a building of high importance (fire station in rosewood, a underground, vast bunker, etc)
dont make noise when you dont need to (that means no unnecessary running)
when estbalishing a base, always make sure you have multiple routes to go incase you get invaded by zeds out of nowhere
But i really dont know how exactly i go about playing B42, generally i try to find a spot for a base ASAP so i can settle down and start storing my loot somewhere
yeah i got 10 strength and 8 fitness. 10 zombies and i'm out of breath😭 . i'm NOT used to it AT ALL
i guess in b42 i'll always be spawning in west point or muldraugh since mccoy estate is nearby. that's a perfect base for sure
something's wrong. 10 strenght, 8 fitness? But strenght that high would reduce muscle strain significantly. Next time try reducing muscle strain multiplier in the sandbox settings, maybe from 1 to 0.6
I believe mine is at that
yeah actually strength 10. Lumberjack + strong
Though I barely ever experience muscle strain anymore, so maybe ive nerfed it too much
mostly only get it when i clear hordes with melee all day or exercise a lot
what strength you got?
hell nah whaaat
lol what a shame also a bug
normal strength 6 fitness 4 character with frying pan kill in b41 in 1 day
it might be because of your default muscle strain multiplier + the fact youre using an axe as a weapon (i'm guessing you are? Since you are a lumberjack), those are heavy so they will increase muscle strain faster
at what butchering level was this done ? low levels or above 7 ? Bug seems to persist at low levels, rn I'm testing with all stages and at 7 is significantly better, more than exponential
nah i wish i could. I die in first few days since i actually really really used to b41 where you could just go inside of the fire station in rosewood, get few axes and clear a horde in there in less than a day
Maybe some dev will clarify if it's intended to be a significant growth more than double compared to low levels
THEN dont do that - clear a few normal houses first, you can definitely handle like 1-3 maybe 4 zombies all at once and stomp them to death with your strenght
get a knife, a hammer, anything that will last you for a while
i kill much more at once. like you'll never find 4 in any city. at least like 8
Of course it does, rising player numbers means people are interested in it and like it, otherwise it will just drop, look at PoE 2 and Starfield, big AAA title from Bethesda, lost almost its entire player count from 300k at launch, it barely reaches 8000 now... that's a game that will be forgotten
there wasnt many of them for me in rosewood day one
and after killing them more will get over to you and you'll already be out of breath
rosewood is a easy town though
maybe because i rush towards POI in first days🤷♂️
It's rare fot stuff to be actually be unforgettable. It's simply a matter of time
THEN DONT
then dont complain you keep dying lmfao
its your strategy that you adopted, you have the choice to change it and adapt
I'm so utterly over-careful especially when looting interior locations that I simply don't know how I wouldn't survive at least 3 months (until I get bored or a patch for b42 forces a new save)
loot will be there regardless of zombie population, but your life won't be if you rush in
i'm not that type of a player. i always play risk and loot instead of safety and chill
yes, i usually take a few days prepping myself up before visiting any improtant area
risking so often in a game like this will get you killed
I dont think theres anything i can help you with there
it's in EA for a decade and still people are playing it, I have always voiced against buying and playing games in EA to all my friends, but PZ proved otherwise, even though the devs are "slow" I still recommend it to everyone
you have no other players trying to loot places first, until NPCs possibly. You don't survive an apocalypse by playing an action hero, PZ is about you being the weak and fragile victim more often than not
in B41 you may have been a Doom Slayer, in B42 you will be the fat guy pointing at the movie screen "thats me!" instead
it is on💀
what is blud doing
hell Apocalypse flavour text says it too, Combat best avoided
you have whistles now in b42, they are great non-car noise lures
and megaphones
well you're right but that's just simply not my playstyle.
megaphones do not work other than the loud equip noise
I mean fair enough, but then PZ is going to feel harder
Lockeray we're hitting a brick wall here, you say you die like 3 days into the save every time, but you're very firm on your own way of playing and unwilling to play differently. What options does that leave us?
the week one mod makes sure you won't find any loot after the NPCs just loot every store they can find ;))
I can't play football (european!) by picking up the ball and carrying it to the goal, so its only normal that PZ is intended for more careful approached gameplay, unless sandbox is used to make it Doom Slayer style
week one mod is the mod that makes me embrace violence enough to get on a FBI watch list
well i was expecting if any of you have similiar playstyle
that's what PZ will need in b43 a somewhat perfect and natural behavior for NPCs not just placeholders
I always play like a psychopath
I sure as hell go in reaping and slaughtering...but not in PZ, in games where its a viable playstyle on pre-defined difficulty settings 😄
looting robbing killing everyone
i never rushed important buildings like that, not even in B41, once youre surrounded/overwhelmed by the zombies its basically game over since you get ripped apart
my strategy is to slowly pick zombies off one by one when it is possible, and then take on more difficult targets/places once i have better gear and more skills
always resort to violence with that mod seems the perfect brutal way to do things
sad i can't play the way i want on defaults
uhhh i did in b41. pretty easily killed everyone and just kept on going
its just an illusion, you said you are playing sandbox with minor changes to how Apocalypse would be. Don't let the illusion to define your fun
You can, give yourself godmode
type "-debug" into the steam game startup bar
😂
well yeah i know but i mean fairly
also be careful that many mods now are broken with the new taintedwater parameter
unfortunately PZ is not intended to be a game like that on dev-defined difficulties, not much else to be said
good for you but that never occured to me as a strategy, i just palyed the way i thought it'd be the most enjoyable to me
your words are right but i need to completely change where i go, where i loot and what i do compared to b41
mess around witrh your sandbox settings
you could lower the total zombie population, or lower the starting zombie population slightly and make it so it hits its peak after many, many days from the start, so you have time to loot buildings and get good weapons, if you so desire
yeah those difficulties are just a short-cut to save you from going through the tedious amount of sandbox settings
wait until b42 is fully done, then you can play a primitive playthrough living in the woods in log cabins, eating animals without butchering them like a savage, then crafting yourself war hatchets and clubs out of bone, leather clothing and then going full feral mode to cities (possibly overgrown with 10 years later mod)
NOOOO my can-reinforced bat broke
that might not be Doom Slayer run but it sure as hell lets you embrace the wild zug zug
thats it, i am going to make a metal-reinforced bat now, the zombies stand no chance
I'll always live in the woods in PZ. I don't need no danger in my safe place so those are my prioritized houses
;))) I always fight the police and fbi, it's the military that's godlike
i bet you that the environmental "decay" isnt finalised either, so things may get more fleshed out later
there'll be 10 years later as an official challenge
yes
can't wait for that
also The Forest map
yes I need erosion and growth be far harsher so the nature truly takes over, so I can feel the despair of never getting my lazy 90s american life back
with random wilderness and biomes perfect to try out the crafting system
If there's one thing i absolutely dislike about B42 and B41, its the calories/weight system
unless i keep myself stuffing my mouth with buttloads of icecream/butter, i will eventually start losing weight
and inevitably die if i let it get too bad
10 years laters mod by Dane that generates tree and there is also Project Seasons and Rust
combined will offer you the best "years later into the apocalypse" vibe
I wish the visibility in deep forests would feel better, isometric nature of the game ensures every treetop will cover your screen even if you can see in the forest
probably badly explained, but games like Valheim I have no problem obviously to enjoy a forest scenery because its not isometric, I can see between trees and canopies are not invading my screen as the camera is firmly on my character
might be something thats improved on later, you never know. The ingame trees look pretty dated, all things considered
just compare them to the new stuff like the grass
also if anyone says he is truly a zomboid player, try that setting with more vehicle options mod and set all the cars to be totally destroyed and missing parts
or try PZ without vehicles 😉 that will be a challenge you'll never forget :p
usually starting with 3 strenght and 8 fitness myself, cus STR is far easier to level up. And every early level up actually feels good - Organized trait means I cannot fill my bags before encumbrance hits me
3 backpacks full of loot ahhhh walking after long weeks of looting something
now playing without cars working...yeah I'd need such minimal loot abundance to enjoy that
out of boredom I've recently downloaded and played B38
i just want post-apocalyptic vehicle tuning to be a thing already, LET ME WELD METAL SHEETS AND RODS ONTO MY VEHICLE SO IT ACTUALLY DOESNT LOSE 50% OF ITS CONDITION WHEN SLIGHTLY PUSHING INTO A HORDE
but the damn skill books are too important still to have meaningful leveling progress for many skills
carving? can go to 10 from 0 np, good luck with welding and skills like that
man what a build that was.....
Standardized Vehicles Upgrades mod
think I got PZ when b38 was current
yeah i'm aware but i'm just not a mod guy most of the time, i'm weird like that
id rather if it was a official feature so i'll patiently wait
I'm offering solutions and workarounds don't have a direct hotline with the devs to tell them this stuff
i'm not shutting you down, nor do i expect you to contact the devs
I feel like vehicle tuning is a big-enough deal to a point where they wont ignore it forever, so maybe we'll see it in next builds, you never know
I was gonna make a joke saying I have but the phone wrang
yeah I know there are still plenty mods out there that should be vanilla features
like making fertilizer from dung
Good things come to those who wait
😂 yeah you're right
this is such a basic and all known primitive way of fertilizing crops even in the wild
rn you need a mod for that
hey its same for food preservation
if animals can shit on the floor, why cant i
let's hope someone reads this and they hear us ;))
such a good question
Killing a horde of zombies with melee and then piling the corpses up on eachother and shitting on it afterwards would be such a power move
ahh as of now it is but not when 42 hits stable, food preservation will be taken care of using vinegar from the brewing process
they have teased ferment barrels that produce either alcohol or vinegar
atleast we have basic pickling
ive found some tomatoes in a jar in a house before
two of them in fact
yes but getting the fresh tomatoes jared without vinegar is impossible
there was a mod called Food Preservation Plus in 41, it's so damn good and it's enough if they just port that mechanic to 42
they'll do it justice dw
i am SO stacked on vinegar by the way, found a few bottles in total so far
it'll last me a bit
yes but in wild where no loot is to be found, brewing will be the only way
yep
and I'm all for wilderness survival, but the true wilderness without any towns or loot spots, just nature
the game will probably need until B43 before living off the grid is entirely viable, the way i see it
right now the crafting is insuficient for that
on another note
it is here
horde killer 2 electric boogaloo
this is pretty good dmg for a blunt item id say
one that has an insanely high durability
The Forest map will make sure that crafting systems work as intended
mhm that damage.....
can you add spikes after reinforcing it ?
with my strenght + long blunt skills i was already 2-shotting most zombies
though i have set zombie toughness to random
nah
i wasnt expecting it to be able to do that anyway
crap
Add nails to it.
BUDDY WHAT DID I JUST SEND
Do they not allow you to add nails to reinforced steel bats anymore?
seems illogical but so be it
it was possible in prior builds?
maybe a bug ? missing surface ?
did it even have the physical model for it?
because i played when 42 first released too
I can't remember in 41 I think I was able to do it but I was running a lot of mods at that time
once you insert mods into the equation then it all falls apart
B41 didnt even have any of this crafting to begin with, it was very basic weaponry-wise
modded 41
yes but im in B42
41 vanilla was..... let's just say unpleasant
it think it was alright, definitely not as good as B42 though, they added a lot of features here
in earlier versions of 42 that was possible
and was there a model for the reinforced and spiked bat?
addid nails to a reinforced weapon at leats in my save it was possible, not modded ofc
if not then my guess is that it wasnt intended
yeah
it most likely wasnt
i forgot i actually have some tea and coffee in my loot stashes
maybe i will treat my character to a refreshing warm drink for once
got a fancy copper kettle
that was the best part of this update
being able to smelt jewelry and other metal items and label them as silver copper and gold
and scrap the respective categories to create useful items
well i found that kettle
i'm not really at the stage where i'm smelting/scrapping anything
It's moving in the right direction
though i plan to salvage car wrecks once i find any
i believe that's the only way to earn welding xp from dismantling
there is a mod that recycles parts that you would normally use
That does not make it unforgettable
nothing is ever truly unforgettable, after sufficient time, everything fades away
but PZ has a long way to go before it's out of the picture
so i feel its pointless to discuss a topic like this
Dude I'm not having this conversation anymore without arguments I've told you that is wrong and illogical to think that a game who is increasing it's player count monthly will end up forgotten as long as it keeps on delivering I don't see any reasonable explanation to counter that fact
After all this time in EA if PZ was struggling to maintain it's player count and after all the builds and updates pushed out, then yes I would have agreed that it will end up forgotten
But it's simply not the case as of now or the near future
Thats my point
i think the other guy misunderstood
yeah this metal-reinforced bat is shredding them
somehow its better than, well, a metal bat, LMAO
my character is a pussy apparently, having muscle strain makes him ache so much that it gives me the severe pain moodle
i'm expecting "Agony" any moment now
You try swinging a heavy baseball bat 300 times in quick succession lol
if he wants to live he better grow tf up
or i'll make a molotov and light myself on fire in protest
wait
i can just OD him on painkillers
no more pain
reminds me of the "rappin for jesus" video on yt
Lvl 6!
i shouldnt have fully drank the 500ml flash of Gin
b42 moodles
i dont mind them
So you are seeing a big benefit to using the hook after lvl 7 especially?
It being level 7 will apply to the getPartChance function which uses skill/70
function ButcheringUtil.getPartChance(baseChance, size, meatRatio, player) local skill = player:getPerkLevel(Perks.Butchering); local skillMod = (skill / 70) * 10; if not baseChance then return 100; end return baseChance * size * meatRatio * skillMod; end
Which is then used here:
local chance = ButcheringUtil.getPartChance(partDef.baseChance, carcass:getAnimalSize(), meatRatio, player); local nbToGive = roundButcher(nb * (chance / 100)); nb = nb - nbToGive; percRest = percRest - chance;
Level 7 doesn't do anything for the meat ratio, it floors so skill/2, so 6 and 7 skill are equal, both equal 3 when divided by 2 and floored
-- every 2 pts in butchering gives * 1.1 max meat ratio local skillIndex = (math.floor(skill/2) / 10) + 1; maxNb = maxNb * skillIndex;
Level 7 is where skillMod becomes 1, but I don't think there's anything particularly special about that.
is the bug that didnt let you wash clothes or wash yourself in the rain colector fixed?
when I tested butchering at low levels was absolutely horrible but after 7 last time I've tried almost every animal I had seemed to yeld way better cuts and quality almost 2x than lvl 2-3 for example
I'm gonna check that save version tonight
Stakes don't say they don't give maintainence XP when used as weapons, I kinda thought the system to make items say that was automated
I hope we get a butcher occupation with like a short blade skill increase
At what point will the character die from alcohol poisoning?
Next update? 42.5.0?
I have no idea, probably not a mechanic yet
I think brick barricades would be a nice addition to the masonry skill
Something like this
lvl 100 mafia boss of barricades:
I was testing that butchering hook on 42.2.1
I've checked last night the save version
My rain barrels keep breaking everytime I unload the chunk they're in.
I can build new ones that work fine but anytime I travel away they break again.
holy fack this is cool, im playing singleplayer and a car nearby suddenly started howling its alarm
now theres a hundred zombies around it
everytime I see your pfp I think its that picture of twinkjak getting his back blown out
what the fuck
if it's related to the nutrition & food overhaul they have planned, then it's post B42 stable
I didn't know it was dangerous to eat chicken feet and died of food poisoning :(
bruh
That's how I feel!
fresh chicken feet killed you? I've been snacking on them en masse with Weak Stomach to no effect
Well, unless I put a poisoned chocolate bar on my ice cream or I got poisoned by cooked eggs
could be the new patch did something, I haven't played PZ in 42.4.1
What is lvl 1 thug?
A glass barricade?
thats called a window
yeah probably lvl 1 is that
lvl 5 goon would be a single plank barricade
I’ve been eating chicken feet no problem, even since last patch. I’d bet one went rotten on your or something.
It would be cool if you could make unbreakable walls but balance them by making them insanely resource and level intensive
They were fresh as can be
or just use metal walls and repair them
tbh a brick wall would be pretty much invincible so long as its built correctly. walk up to a school house and start smacking the wall. see how long it takes to break in
I was thinking medieval castle style walls that are 1 tile thick for unbreakable walls
i verified my game files and now my game is stuck on validating
i reinstalled the game, reset my pc and steam
idk what to do :(
I wonder if they have a chance to poison even fresh cause they are kinda gross lmao
echo creek?
i spawned there and there was no tools to carpentize with
Spawned in maldraugh and wandered into the woods
ah
thats a lil bit better
just walk towards fallon lake
What does the HOME key do? It seems it toggle full map visibility or something.
No mods in my game. Zero mods.
Lies, new patch update did not give coffee alongside coffee machine.
Hmm, Build 42.4.1 has strange graphical artifacts.
Check yellow tree.
You sure it isnt just you?
I see people have odd visuals all the time, yet my own game is fine
I only ever have these transparent 'lines' appear in places when the texture is being 'moved', sort of, for example when a zombie is trying to tear down a door
But thats been consistent across all B42 patches for me and i dont really mind it
That's why I was asking.
Man looting certain containers like wardrobes is fucking pain rn. Gott be standing right fuckin in front of each side
i think its fine
I've seen a lot of that rendering problem since first versions
Don't get me started on artifacts, right now filing an RMA yet again, this time for my GPU since I get different looking artifacts in PZ and other games, especially for lighting effects...
I still don't get it
Does muscle strain from swinging weapons and stuff help leveling strength?
no, muscle strain is there to prevent players from wiping a whole horde with a meta melee weapon within a single day
I mean
it gives pain and makes your swings weaker i think
just rest for it to go away
higher strenght means you accumulate muscle strain slower
If push-ups give quite some strength exp and muscle strain, then should any other activities that give muscle strain.
Or maybe im tripping
but exercises gave xp even when muscle strain didnt exist
Ye ye
its just an additional mechanic to make the player more 'grounded' in certain scenarios, its not there as another way to get stronger
But causing muscle strain is another kind of training, i would say.
But meh, who im to know.
you already get strenght xp by fighting zombies with melee
muscle strain is a consequence of swinging too much
Hmm
I guess exp from swinging and shi like that could be increased
Also, there is a regularity bar when doing exercises
That can massively slow down the building of muscle strain from exercising
There should be something similar for non exercising activities
sounds very complex to implement, doubt its going to ever be like that
but you can always suggest it
Complex? Im not into coding, but counting how many times you get a muscle strain and how often, should be pretty easy.
So in the end
tweaking it for every single non-exercise physical activity and making sure its not too low or too shittily much will not be easy
Im not talking about giving every activity a certain value of increasing "regularity bar" but about just counting how many times and how often does your muscles get a strain effect. No matter how that effect was achieved.
I'm pretty sure the muscle strain from training and other things are different tho. But I'm not 100% sure
Sure but if those are two different things then you can't just do one thing to help against the problem from the other thing
Just because the symptom is the same doesn't mean the cause is
You are straining the same muscles during fighting, that you do during push ups or some shi.
best strategy to avoid muscle strain is to take a lot of traits that give weapon skill, as it helps more than strength to avoid muscle strain.
Also stomp whenever possible to use leg muscle
I don't think it works like that. But I'm also not a medical professional
If it doesn't, how would doing push-ups help you with damage in fighting like it does now?
Anyway
Training and straining are two seperate things
Training causes straining.
Fighting causes straining.
Training increases strength exp.
Fighting (kinda) increases strength exp.
Training increases regularly bar, and thus, should fighting and any other activities.
That in combat translates to higher weapon skill, which lowers strain considerably.
I don't think either of us are really qualified to say anything for certain
Or you are suggesting that cutting grass should give some type of regularity as well?
I guess
Do you cut enough grass to get a muscle strain?
Yeah it can easily make you red if you don't use a tool.
In PZ, strain from different activities and strain from training are practically the same
But regularly bar slows down strain for training
And not for different activities
And mucle strain from different activities does not build up regularity bar
Which is kinda lame
You can turn down strain on sandbox settings
That would be kinda lame
I don't want to nerf strain to the ground
Strain should exist
But in a more realistic and more manageable form
Ye ye, but the fact that this way of dealing with muscle strain exists shouldn't mean that the "regularity bar way" shouldn't exist.
Or maybe even go in giving de buffs to strength and shi for being inactive for too long
Make players loose not only regularly bar, but also strength exp and fitness exp for sitting still too long.
Muscles can deteriorate in real life
So many issues with this patch. Keep up the good work, devs. You got this!
New traits, new balance, and lots of quality of life in this one. Not to mention a metric ton of fixes.
holy fucking shit, march ridge is such a hellhole
im not going there again unless i bring 3 times the amount of noise makers and aerosol bombs/pipebombs
i had an annotation map pointing me towards the church there having some loot but there was nothing in it
my efforts were in vain
So, I wouldn't know if I didn't see the error app up, but does anyone know why collecting eggs from a coop is causing me a couple thousand errors?
(World started in 42.4.0 if that matters)
what does it say in the console\
Uh, I don't have the game in front of me right now but it was something about [a value] being assigned to an animal.
Swinging a weapon would not increase the regularity bar. In real life I do so many push-ups that I do not get muscle strain from them, at least not enough to get any pain or discomfort whatsoever. But when I swing a weapon I quickly build up muscle strain since that I do not do all the time. PZ currently doesn't have any exercises that target the main muscles used when swinging
They were suggesting the act of swinging a weapon gets its own bar, not that it shares it with an existing exercise
But also... I don't really care for the regularity mechanic and don't particularly wish it to be added to the act of using weapons, I think having the relevant weapon skill take that place is fine
Can agree. Feels like another one of many unnecessary complications
Is there like a brake on the white animal trailers? I can't make it move but I did on my last run
Bruh, if doing push-ups does not affect muscles that you use during swinging, then by this logic, in PZ, leveling exp through push-ups shouldn't give buff damage. Also, it depends on your grip during push-ups. If you are doing a very wide push-up, then sure, mostly your back and chest will be affected. But the narrower your grip gets, the more your hands and arms get involved.
you think too black & white about it. Have you considered that maybe the regularity mechanic does not exist for melee because the intent isn't to make melee even more overpowered, but to put it down to a more balanced state? That is partly why muscle strain was even added, i imagine.
You've got the strenght skill and the weapon skills that reduce the muscle strain gained from swings
It really wouldn't make it overpowered. You'd need to either train or fight a ton to keep regularity up
bold of you to assume the average PZ player won't do one of those consistently
does anyone not remember at all how it was possible in B41 to just take a meta weapon and keep swinging at zombies until the whole horde was dead
there's the athletics skill but it is considerably less limiting compared to muscle strain
especially when you pick a character who starts with more of it
now in the latest B42 build i have a sheet metal reinforced bat with a long blunt skill of 4, strenght skill of 9, athletics 5, and i am still not able to wipe the entire street of zombies in one go, although i am getting close to it
i think at that point it's pretty reasonable to be able to go that far
Now the process of becoming stronger is more noticeable for sure
Okay and? You do something consistently and you get rewarded for it
The devs are starting to make the game too hard tl cater to the streamer. They should really look more into the average player who barely survives a few days
There are 3 core difficulties, and it's on the player to pick the one they most want
yes, like exercising, swinging your weapon (and thus gaining xp for that weapon's category), leveling up your skills that contribute to the crafting of better improvised weaponry
you dont need another mechanic to further trivialize the muscle strain that was deliberately added to partially hold the player back from running around slaying a entire horde with a hammer
my opinion though, feel free to disagree, we'll see what direction the devs take next
Thats a dumb take. Most new player play apocalypse and most even assume builder is sandbox.
If you find the game too hard then increase the difficuilty and don't fuck with new player it aint that hard
Catering to streamer and veterans is a very good killer of a game
it hasnt occured to me that they'd be doing it to cater to those people
PZ has been hardcore for a long time, they're just making that more in-depth
Yeah because making the game harder was surely because of the casuals who barely survived anyway
i am a casual
It was hard doesn't mean it needs to be dark souls level
but i dont think a player who normally plays MC is who's this game made for to begin with
They should just make a hardcore difficuilty and throw all that stuff into there
This may be an issue of the game being beginner-unfriendly, as i've had a poor experience with it initially, myself
If that is something you think, then i would be inclined to agree
So why make it even more beginner unfriendly if a simple hardcore mode would do?
The logical solution would be for the game to introduce more tutorials and a little hand-holding for the easier preset difficulties
Or or hear me out... just add a harder difficuilty
I don't think the premise that this muscle strain mechanic is beginner unfriendly even holds
apocalypse is meant to be the hard difficulty
Its literally the standard difficuilty tf are you on abt?
After like, life 2 or 3, beginner players will learn to be scared of the zombies until they improve, rather than trying to be an action hero
that's called survivor
It's the bade difficulty the game builds around and also the hardest default difficulty
Well if there won't be any new player y'all know why
there will be
I don't know why
don't be so dramatic
PZ has a long way to go before everything is properly balanced, many systems are outdated, perhaps the game shall become more beginner friendly further down the line, or it will always stay this way, that is up to the game studio behind it and their vision for the game
That does not mean that suddenly there would be no new players to the genre, only that there would be a bit less as the game will have a narrower audience, which is not automatically a bad thing
Oh, there is 1 balance issue I really want addressed with b42 though: weapons are a bit too rare.
Like, on survivor mode I've totally ran out of weapons - not just the decent ones like kitchen knives, but even the forks and the pens
how, i'm drowning in weapons
its been a long time since i played the preset difficulties so i wouldnt know the difference between your save's settings and mine
but i havent changed a whole ton, i believe the loot spawns specifically werent touched by me at all
How far into the outbreak have you started? Right on the first day?
oh given how apocalypse is the base setting preset for sandbox, my loot should be rarer than yours (or as rare)
ive no idea how that is possible
Seems to me you just got really unlucky
That's been a feature (?) since b41
Nah i swear it was better back then. Rn its like you can't even see the tile infront of one side if you're standing in front of the other. It be blacked out like any other unseen area
Vision "hitboxes" or whatever the f dont really match the sprites in a lot of cases, like fuel bowsers
Some tall trees dont have low hanging branches and shouldnt block as much sight as they do
Just noticed zombies get hung on them too and you can clearly see the vison cone bending around the whole tile and not accurately to the sprite
