Issue is important enough for multiple reasons: troughs for animals, collectors for base supply, et cetera.
Request it in the forums. And probably will need to make it as an option that's off by default, because it lowers performance a bit.

yep, there are several threads in the forum about it. on the positive end, I think it's probably related to whatever prevents animals from dying of thirst or hunger while you're off screen. You can find them dying of thirst, but they aren't already dead yet.
Is it intended that a full health farmed plant gives one seed, but finding a wild one gives like 4-18?
Surely the impact could be minimised by limiting it to player crafted and placed containers, and troughs that are in player managed/created zones
My game was working fine on build 42.2, but today after updating to 42.3.1, it no longer opens. My setup is a GTX 1060 5GB, Xeon 2666, and 16GB of RAM (the performance was good on build 42.2 with this setup as I play in 4K)
did you get the seed from harvesting it alongside the actual plants? or did you leave it longer? In 41, you had to let them go to seed to get seeds, but in 42 when I did that with one plant, they went straight from flowering to dead.
also, it may be related both to how long they were ready to harvest seeds from, and your agriculture rating

Yeah it seems like there are some ways to get more seeds, like some vegetables you can pick them out but I keep only get one seed from flowering ones

NaN calories bug = Bug where the calories count your player character has will become NaN, which makes your weight stay at 70kg by default, which is underweight. It hinders your stamina, your combat, your encumberence tolerance level, etc.
No, it's just that you haven't been able to see what is there, so the game doesn't load the tiles until you actually lay eyes on it.

You need to use debug mode. Open the debug menu in game and select General Debuggers -> Body. In there you will see Calories with the bugged value, move the slider and it should be fixed.

honestly, since part of the process for processing wild clay into something you can use for pottery involves adding water to make it a thinner slurry, so that certain stuff settles out, and then letting it dry. buckets make much more sense for collecting clay

verified from earlier discussion, The issue with my not learning recipes was that it was in a bag. If a learnable item is in a bag, you have the option, but if you click it it doesn't do anything.

something I've noticed with this latest update, certain activities are giving me XP notifications above the character's head. which is something I recall from 41, but hadn't been seeing much of in 42. But it's kind of Hit or Miss. some of the carpentry stuff is doing it. I got a notification when I made water barrels. I did not get a notification when making a compost bin. I got notification when sawing logs into planks. I got notification from one of the things I was cooking, but I don't remember which thing. But other evolved recipes are not giving me an XP notification. Is that something that's being worked on and slowly built in?
I randomly got a notification after dissasembling a TV and I was confused af lmao
Also, the notification duration shouldn't be affected by gamespeed

an ignition works the same way as a lock, you need a key to turn it properly
if you just ram a screwdriver in there chances are that you'll end up destroying the pins and making the ignition completely unusable
people who have stolen with with screwdrivers will also pop out the ignition lock to put a scrwdriver.

i have hotwired older cars, though (not for theft, i'm a mechanic and you'd be surprised by how often people lose keys.)
though i do agree that hotwiring cars in such a short time frame is very unrealistic, since you need to have knowledge of what wire is the power, which one is the starter, and which one is the ignition
it varies from car to car, and you need more tools than just a screwdriver (unless you'd like to get shocked by twelve volts)

It worked on cars from the '80s and '90s too. It does destroy the pins, but the way the pins were made in most of them, destroying the pins knocks them out of the way, and allows the cylinder to turn.
This is why I always keep a slim jim in my backpack, my glove box, and my desk at work.

thing is, it did depend on the vehicle in question, and yes, it was real easy to break them in such a way that it would then lock up completely and you'd have to do a true hotwire. took skill to do it the right way.

devs can we please get a 3d model for generators please like pleaseeee please let us carry generators properly having to use mods for it just to keep it in line with the corpse dragging now is really immersion breaking
or just rework carrying heavy things in general make a trolley item that spawns inside of hardware stores and some grocery store backrooms (would be used to carry boxes and stuff out of delivery trucks)
it would function as a way to carry heavy things that have no handles
equip in both hands
uses very similar code to the dragging corpse mechanic
you just walk backwards or forwards with a trolley it can carry up to 2 crates or one generator it can carry an entire popsicle fridge without the fridge having to be taken apart into 2 pieces

if anybody is still struggling with black screen on start up i was able to "fix it" but opting out of the unstable branch and loading the game up in biuld 41 and set my screen setting to borderless windowed. then i loaded the game up in 42 and it was working but if i put the game into fullscreen i go back to black screen. hope this helps.

Seems right on the money though, I did a bunch tests and the ground gives way more meat accross the board.
So I tested it a bunch of times, and the hook is consistently giving way less than butchering on the ground and it’s worse the bigger the animal. I wonder if a big part of the issues with butchering yields being low is related to a bug with the hook? I get around 11 pieces of decent meat from a cow on the ground at level 4 butcher, if I am supposed to be getting even more than that on the hook that might actually be a decent amount (like 20 pieces for example I’d be fine with per cow), but because everyone assumes you get more on the hook, and it’s bugged and giving low yields, everyone things the yield is too low?
No, no best bang for your buck (or cow). The best I can say is, get a really sharp meat butcher, and be level 10 butchering.
I'm pretty sure this will get tweaked in later patches.

If I am looking at a window and I am not essentially within "1-2" tiles of it, I will not see zombies near the windows (or beyond), vice versa with me being inside and seeing zombies outside. Which annoyingly is in contrast to what zombies can "see", where they have way better vision.

Do mineral deposits respawn now? I mined one in my save on 42.2.1 last week and earlier tonight I loaded it in 42.3 and it re-appeared

I dunno if its unique to b42 but, does anyone else find it a little jarring that when you enter combat stance in melee, you dont face where your cursor was, but rather the point on the ground projected down to by the melee aim indicator thingy?
Its not much of an issue at a distance, but up close (where melee generally happens) it kinda forces the aim of your hits to the wrong place sometimes if you are doing this horizontally
Like a whole 45 degrees off where you're sort of expecting to aim

Question about Purifying Tablets in a bucket.
1 tablet purifies 1L of water. If you have a bucket of tainted water, you have to use Purifying Tablets 10 times.
This is simple and easy to understand, but when the purifying tablet is used only once in a bucket of tainted water, wouldn't the clean water gets re-tainted in the bucket?
You have to use the tablets in succession, right?
Or does it use up 10 tablets altogether in one go?
I mean as is, we don't have momentum with towing. The tow strap method. that is what is being used in game generally requires somebody in the car being towed to hit the brakes, otherwise if you stop the other car, it's going to slam into

following up on this. one thing i noticed is that there seems to be a bit of a tree. researching some of the base items give recipes for melee weapons using that base item plus, like the can reinforced, and then making and researching that gives a recipe for a higher tier upgraded weapon.
i REALLY like that. very cool.
I will also add, I don't have specifics, but it seems like SOME things that can be researched have the flag saying so in the base item description without actually right clicking it to see the light bulb. But some don't. And it seems like it also matters whether or not the object is in your personal inventory or a container, if it shows that tool tip or shows a light bulb on right click. somethings will show a light bulb on right click when they're in a container and you can't actually research them, some won't until it's in your inventory. I'll try and keep track a bit better next time of which was which.
I can't find a purifying tablet in my playthrough, I wondered how does a purifying tablet work in a bucket. May I ask if you can help explain the process?
Using it in a full bucket isn't a great idea, it will only purify 1L and the result is still tainted. If you have 10 tablets you should be able to purify it
If the tablet doesn't use all 10 tablets in one go, how does it purify the bucket if I can't put 1 tablet one-by-one into the bucket, knowing it will just retaint the water?
I really wish I can find a purifying tablet somewhere... I wanted to give this a try.

The UI code for those changes is in the game right now, so they either modded it in or edited vanilla files directly so that it'd show up

FYI for people butchering for meat, the meat hook seems to give less meat than butchering on the ground depending on the animal, for example this is the exact same cow butchered on the ground and on the hook in two copies of one save:

of course not. I mean there's some mods are enabled but as a modder, I'm sure I don't use any animal related mod. I couldn't capture any 3D model of the raccoon because he was too fast but I recorded the coordination of animal spawning zone.

This has happened to me without mods, only once. I fixed it by builidng the gate facing it from teh side the doors don't open on
And make sure there is nothing in the way of the swinging arc of the doors

Resources used (and lost)but no double gate. Also tried to go away doing a little trip with a vehicle and then close and restart game but the gate does not show.

Make sure you stand on the opposite side it opens from and that there is nothing in the way of the opening arc. I feel like it checks the space in front of the door and if anything is there it doesn’t build

Couple of things: make is so you can eat,drink,smoke and open Doors etc. I would love to see an alternative to getting skills up. Its very tiresome to collect books and read them and so on. Make it so you gain level by investing time in the craft.
I like the way the knowledge based xp boost system works. There are just too many skills with too many volumes each. 3 books per skill would probably suffice, and some consolidation of the skill list would certainly be welcome

not really, in fact crossbows have far less draw weight than a warbow for example. The reason they were so good was because (like guns) anyone could use them and you wouldn't need to spend a decade training a bowman from his kid years. However look at guns and you'll realize that this advantage barely exists in game
so I just googled and the draw weight is actually stronger apparently. However medieval crossbows take a hilariously long time to reload so it's kind of a either hit or die if you are fighting a zombie. Tho I could see it beeing used for hunting

historically they carried around 72 arrows and considering the unrealistic carrying capacity in this game you could maybe carry 100-130 which is far more than enough to clear an area

archery is a pretty broad thematic with quite a lot of use. You could even use burning arrows or similar

I think arrows would actually be easy as hell, take a blade, a stick and feathers or something and you got an arrow
You could stick a lot of stuff to them as long as it's small and rather light
theoretically couldnt you also just sharpen a small stick and attach some fins (in this case feathers) at the bottom
basically just skip the blade part and carve the tip of the stick to serve as a substitute for that

a regular one? they're made from mild steel, not hardened. they're made to flex and bend rather than snap, but if they get bent back and forth in the same area repeatedly, youll get stress fractures ( think bending a paper clip back and forth until it snaps into two, but bigger) and smashing the haft against skulls is gonna deform the steel and be basically like bending it repeatedly in the same area.

there's a couple of bends before the break, so you've lost the pointed head. that's going to be the biggest Force multiplier on that end, and changed the weight of the whole thing. It's not going to be as effective of a weapon. also, what if that snap was closer to the middle?
honestly a small snap like that would probably be represented by the condition having gone down below half and it doing less damage.
Again, you are not using any kind of leverage or torque. You are not using nearly ad much force as you would while using a crowbar normally
If you're swinging it and using it as a melee weapon, you're using MORE force than you would when using a crowbar normally.

axes, at least in current build, can last almost forever as long as you do regular maintenance and keep them sharp The issue is if you use them once the sharpness is below a certain point without sharpening it, then the condition starts going down more
I have a bunch of sheep and cows all living together same livestock zone and same barn. It's a rainstorm and all the other animals are fine but this one bull won't stfu or stop breaking my walls. What am I doing wrong?
Not positive if this is accurate, but a couple people have suggested that cows don't like being in the same livestock zone with other livestock. adds to their stress. Not sure if that's accurate, but I do know that when I had pigs and cows together, the cows went nucking futz even without zombies or gunfire around them
