when i have to go to something rl i don't want to have my friend leave in case it takes awhile so i leave and then i cant get back into server it says server not responding and then i restart it then it still says the same thing so then i redownload it then it works i would like to know how to fix this without redownloading the game

I meant how did you install the server, did you use SteamCMD or did you install it through the Steam Client? Since the latter may have certain issues if you both host and try to play on the server.
