Hey does anyone know if there's like some meds I could take to stop food poisoning possibly? I accidentally started eating some raw meat and I didn't mean to, not sure if I was able to but wanted to know if there's some kind of remedy?
You could probably go into debug and activate the god mode cheat which I believe cures you of anything negative

You can survive some food poisoning now

I don't know the exact numbers but you can eat some burnt food before poisoning sets in so i'm assuming you can eat rotten food so long as its on tiny amounts

Do not disassemble wooden floors on an island. This bug can pretty much ruin and kill my run because I have to get everything right on the first try, and removing wooden floors results in a void...

Can at least somewhat mend the visual side by emptying dirt from a sack to the spot after I re-build the wooden floor xD

late reply here but they did go into their plans for the depth of random NPCs in a previous blog, before they were pretty much only talking about plans for b42. stuff about tracking the movement of NPCs as just dots on the map and then manifesting into a physical NPC with a generated story based on what they've done and been through, like what did during the outbreak, if they have family or what happened to them, what their goal is. the kinda stuff you can chat with them about over a campfire
I don't remember which blog it was, I'll try to find it when I have some time. but idk that sounded like a really solid amount of depth if they're going so far as to have individually generated stories for every NPCs with potentially real ties to other real things and NPCs based on the story

Idk man, you can have various permanent passives instead that will help you for the rest of the game, i don't think i can imagine a single scenario why starting with 1 extra level in tailoring is more valuable than transfering items faster or seeing better at night forever

Maybe not in sp but in mp having a tailorer in your group now is more invaluable than before especially when comboed with welding skill & a blacksmith they can make you all sorts of armor to protect the upper body as well as patch clothes, make new clothes or winter gear and even backpacks
in pvp server its legit a must
You can be a tailorer without picking a trait that gives you 1 level for 4 points π

+3 tailoring and +1 welding as an armorer profession maybe, also hear me out but I think both the blacksmith & welder profession should have some boosts in metalworking and welding exclusively idk why their professions have to be mutually tied to one skill they should be able to work with metal or weld but at separate skill levels compared to their main thing because at the end of the day it does sort of link to each other the working sith metals part at least just differently

That's another point the carpenter profession starts with +3 carpentry and +1 carving which makes sense as well as the animal carer which is I think +3 animal care and +2 butchering and +1 agriculture
So it confuses me why a welder can't have some metalworking knowledge/skill or a blacksmith can't have some welding knowledge/skill

I've been using the usual weak stomach, prone to illness, slow healer, thin-skinned combo since they're basically free. I always use smoker and I still do bc I'm still working out whether it's worth it in 42, haven't decided for sure yet. I also take high thirst bc although it's only one point, it's really not that fast of a dehydration rate anyway and I can just carry a second water bottle. I think I've started taking conspicuous too since I heard in that Retanaru video that it's pretty much free points now, and I'm taking fast metabolism bc I always took underweight before
it's harder for me to remember my positive traits bc those change more regularly but I know I've been using cat's eyes, dexterous, wilderness knowledge, wakeful, speed demon, organized, baseball player, maybe stout? there's probably others I just don't remember rn
oh and I've been using lumberjack to try out axes more

ohh yeah it's not as good for sure since they cut the points it gives in half and made cigarettes a lot harder to find but there are enough ways to reduce stress otherwise that it's not been too bad for me personally, I'm still enjoying it
I never use athletic to begin with but it's a good point, I'm still using it mostly to experiment and decide for myself whether I think it's worth it. for a lot of people it probably isn't but I like the added side quest of needing cigarettes
I never picked smoker anyways because Irl I'm not one, short sighted however :)

well you just have to try it and learn how to do it properly. you shouldn't be going into your eyes that hard, it's really more of a pinch to get the contact off your eye. but yeah contact lenses are not for everyone

Yeah I just thought a couple of the small annoying tweaks, like not being able to used wood charcoal to make an anvil because it isnβt base.charcoal so you have to search high and low for real charcoal lol. Presumably that would just be a matter of adding wood charcoal to a list somewhere

a lot of recipes only become visible on higher tier crafting benches
cause I know for a fact you can make like a ton of different blades including a full sized sword with the proper equipment

beware tho : This mod overrides the recipes_baking.txt and the recipes_cooking.txt and the entity_coffeemachine.txt and recipes_jarring.txt scripts, as it doesn't seems like there is a clean way to override a specific recipes at the moment, with the new craft system.
Any mods that also modifies them, will cause compatibility issues
as long as you dont use anything that overides this dirty edit you should be fine :)

those would require animations and their own models, etc. but ducks and geese and hens act very similar, and are more or less the same size and Boars are just Bigger pigs with tusks so that should be very easy too

Does anyone know if, in debug mode, there's a way to edit the structure of buildings? (I.E. i want to take out some walls with windows and replace them with walls with no windows, but they must match the existing walls)

My current zombie settings are fun though. Peak day is day 2, zombies are fully random on senses, memory, and navigation so some can open doors and windows. There's also 2% sprinters. Although I did turn off bite infection (rage at me for it, I don't play with sprinters and infection though)

remove both stairs, build a wooden floor to ensure your rope won't go below the ground level

This was a great recommendation - the entire complex was clear save for a accident on the road that only had two zombies. It also has two fridges, so plenty of food storage to store the raided produce from the nearby warehouse.

I got an All Terrain SUV last night - had to use debug to put the air in the tire after swapping tires. Lesson learned that tires reset to 0 pressure when removed. Got plenty of fuel, for a while. But no generator yet. So far so good. Oh and leg is healed.

i free them and release them into a small room and then proceed to beat them to death with a pipe and eat them

I think having certain professions should give you additional buffs, like a butcher has been butchering most of his life, he should get more meat out of butchering animals(especially cows, sheep, hens) than anyone with a high level butchering skill

Okay yea - butcher level has a huge impact on meat returns.
Just tested it in debug mode, level 10 butcher is something like 200% more efficient. So I'd say meat returns aren't bugged - you just need to grind butchery.
Maybe zombie butchery mod so you can practice? π
To give an idea - I think it was something like 1000 calorie difference between level 0 and level 10 butchery.
The fact that so many game features are currently partially or totally broken makes me feel no guilt about exploiting the bugs to my advantage. Not getting much meat from butchering? Butcher the same rabbit 50 times, then you'll have lots of meat and also your butchery skill will be higher.

anyone know why the NPC mods dont work, like they do but after a while of playing i notice every single world i had made, stopped spawning them after playing for a while, and today i noticed it even earlier there was only the initial starting NPCs including the usual Police, military, survivors, firemen, lab professors, hazmat people etc. but they only spawned that one time and only in that part of the map i was in (riverside)

sigh I think I found another recipe where something was left out. To make tongs you need a heading tool. But you can use improvised tongs to make the tongs. But to make the heading tool you need tongs and you can't use improvised tongs.

I think locations like that need a lot more balancing - why are there hundreds of zombies at a mansion in middle of the woods with next to no loot inside. It feels like there's less zombies in all of echo creek than there were in that one mansion.
I think an actual realistic distribution of zombies would make it boring. I found the 41 distribution a lot more annoying tbh
I have thought about how it might be beneficial to add a third Zombie Distribution sandbox option that would be more realistic
Because the one we have now makes for a more interesting game but doesnt make much theoretical sense

I wouldnt assume they all stay where they turned. In the case of certain places like restaurants, I can see why zombies might flock to them over time. Colorful lights, commercial grade equipment still making noise etc.

is reinforcing doors with furniture going to be removed until the devs find a way to make doors not open/shut when blocked or is it just going to be removed all together now
im curious if anyone knows at all because blocking doors with furniture was removed, likely due to the animation associated with opening doors now
run ended after I left the place, got swarmed in the middle of the road

Yea it's a bug with animals turning into adults. There's a chance they just duplicate like crazy. It's pretty uncommon but it does happen sometimes.
I really like b42. It's pretty fun. The only thing that really annoys me about it is that the dragdowns are really delayed sometimes. Like my character will be a zombie and then he'll start screaming π
But i'm having a lot of fun

Personally i like the combat changes. It feels a lot more balanced in my eyes

They have a problem with not picking the hardest difficulty, because they are 1337, but then get annoyed that its hard. Just pick a lower one... or play DOOM?
yah i recently had to turn muscle strain up a bit cause i play with stout and im trying to find like a middle ground because i felt like im like clearing too fast or something
I would say muscle strain is a bit annoying, but in theory it works for making people play stealthily, that is except people turn it off on purpose.. and proceed to play recklessly
zombies are ruining my zombie game homestead life, so I'm gonna kill every single fucking last one of them
Whats great about Zomboid is you can still be a zombie killing badass but it takes a lot of preperation and awareness

For me its the crawling zombies, hate them, absolutely hate them especially on fences, you can melee directly at them and somehow your character misses the hit, next thing you know youre on the ground and the zomboids are eating you
Yeah honestly I haven't even found it that hard even now. I started with 1 strength and fitness and now at 3 strength and 2 fitness and a sheet metal baseball bat im wrecking, just gotta take breaks time to time and keep weight down

project zomboid isnt a niche nor an unpopular game, more than half of my steam friends have it, and i have all kinds of people from all parts of the world
yah crawlers are scarier now or something i swear lol, i got bit by one and now i run if i see them and theres a group i have to kill
When the sandbox players change the sandbox settings to play the game the way they want: 
always been like that for me, those bastards just drag you down instantly, you have no chance to fight back, also their hit range is massive for some reason

I think its great how it is and all the difficulty settings are valid, people just have a hard time admitting that the hardest setting isn't what they want haha
yea lol , theres some people that some of us will argue with on steam forums, i dont know why it makes them so mad but they get really upset if you tell them to use sandbox. I love sandbox its one of the best parts of teh game

like just change soemthing until a hotfix comes out or try different settings
i dont even know what preset i use, i just use the default one and adjust the settings accordingly

i think the only settings i adjust are reading speed, xp multiplier and vehicle condition, i put loot on insanely rare for the first time i launched b42, easy to say it was the most depressing run

the longer you play, the easier it gets so you have to change the settings in order to compensate for that
people who play sprinters only are truly insane though i remember i tried it lasted only like a week
yeah i used to play with night sprinters , it was fun to try for a while, but i do a lot of standing in the middle of my base n stuff outside and endup getting bit ... tried it with them being able to open doors too and that was a no
sprinters that can open doors is pure nightmare fuel
basically the only thing that saves you from sprinter is doors and walls

I found the recipe inthe files (recipes_cannedFood.txt for anyone curious) and the spacing makes me think it's a placeholder and was meant to be removed.
I literally mean the spacing in the code btw. You can see how the formatting is on the top recipe (for opening water ration cans) vs the unlabled can recipe.
Ohhhh there's a remove result item. I bet a bit of lua was supposed to kick in, remove the unlabled can, and replace it with a random actual food item. Are you using any mods?

Okay side track for a moment - the fact there's a folder labled NPCs in the Lua directory has me so excited. Like I know it's just the basic AI for animals - but that has me SO EXCITED
