You put food with the (Rotten) tag in it like any other container and over a long period of time it will disappear from the bin and become a % of compost. Once you have at least 2.5% filled you'll be able to put it in your sack. (I believe it's 5% for a full sack of compost, I can be wrong though)

Animals are shockingly low maintenance considering how much you can get from them, just feed and water them
if you want milk leave the girls in with the boys
if you want to butcher a full grown animal or two separate the males so you can let males mature to be slaughtered

also if you look closely you can see i resorted to piling the butter on the ground

Honestly it’s just an aggravating thing you need to push through by just repairing the walls and bringing them back into the zone

I’m not entirely sure, but the proper walls help prevent zombies from seeing you while tending to your animals

Also idk if picking up their dung helps them or not, but it does make the place look prettier

I have a two-island solution for my animal dilemma. The smaller island, will be my home with the chickens. The larger island, named "Australia" from now on, will be where the criminal wall destroying animals shall live. Good luck ruining walls that are not there!

I would suggest the butter approach more instead because of how simple and quick it is to set up

All you need are buckets, a butter churn, a cow and a bull and you’re all set

Animal handling doesn’t even matter that much since you’ll level it as you milk

after slicing it into fillets, it still weighs over 20 units. So have to use it on a frying pan to make a meal. But even if using the fillet as a meal, its total weight does not get lower, so it retains its mass while losing its hunger value.
