Well, I mean, one is military-grade and the other is tested in industrial settings
Either way, both would realistically offer perfect protection against scratches or bites in any area actually covered by the helmet. Honestly think some gear needs to only be able to be lost/knocked off by attacks rather than being considered "penetratable"

yes, I'm living off candies, chips and occasional animal roadkill, canned goods are definitely far rarer, but makes kind of sense when they're the go-to during an apocalypse to loot. I play on Extremely Rare loot tho

test and let us know, from my understanding they have a whole genetics system setup to allow for that, so that you can get the top tier animals through breeding
while i know about the stat genetics that you can see in debug mode (max lvl animal care did not let me see it), i dont think they made a realistic color genetics system so ill have no way of knowing if the angus impregnated the holstein
and i know female animals can spawn in pregnant, where they will just birth the same sex and breed animal

but a note is that the baby always comes out as the breed of the mother
and it takes bulls literal weeks to kill eachother so you can keep them together temporarily

I think the most fun way to play would be if zombies move in proper hordes. Like define each major city as a circle. And have a horde target that attracks all zed in the city to that point. leaving a relativley small amount inside houses & the like for jumpscares. And the target obviously at random times is changed triggering a slow mass migration.
Specifically I envision this as a way to make the player decide. Do they bunker up in their base for a couple days while the horde naturally passes or are they forced to flee. Do they scout out where the horde is & knowing that circle to appraoch town from another directon for todays loot run.
Maybe could have horde predicitons on radio.

imagine if there is a counter when a zed attempt to climb under a car. and as that counter tilts up, the car also tilts. so if you have a whole horde on one side of the vehicle, they can tilt it over

I have a feeling that the devs are going to utilize the animal trail tech for zombies eventually and would do something like you are suggesting - and if they don't someone will - probably the modder(s) behind wandering zombies mod
This sounds a little arbitrarily random though, which imo is something the game needs to move away from a little in some areaa. Id much prefer if zombies were just more reactive to the world and each other, and that there was more for them to react to. Everything the player does outside of stealth should make more sound. Zombies should react to each other more. Then you take away their temporary omniscience during a pursuit and chefs kiss
Makes sense to hold off on zombie brain polish until a lot of core features are in, but damn it feels like it's never gonna happen at this point

Lets just hope the zombies don't have 7 days to die level of horde mechanics with a PHD in architecture knowing which specific weakpoints to go for in your defences

I've also had this happen to me, only mods I've been running is change sandbox settings because I'm too lazy to go into debug mode to do so & empty propane torch fix which lets me fill an empty propane torch with propane because it won't let you dothat right now in this current version of b42

guns are cool and all but I cant seem to hit anything lol. I basically have to use it as a melee weapon (close up shots) and sometimes I still miss.

then start using pistols at lvl 5, then at level 6-8 start using rifles
pistols can be used at 3-4 but mostly up close

Zombies are not stationary targets. They move unpredictably, and their erratic behavior makes it even harder to aim, especially when survival instinct is kicking in.
Shooting accurately requires proper stance, grip, and practice to build muscle memory. Without adequate training, many people are unlikely to shoot straight under pressure.
Unlike a controlled situation like a Nerf gun match, a real-life scenario is unpredictable, with obstacles, noise, and other distractions making it harder to focus on targets.
The gravity of using a firearm, combined with the possibility of missing and wasting precious ammunition, adds another layer of pressure. This could lead to overthinking or second-guessing the shot.
In contrast, Nerf guns are lightweight, have no recoil, and lack the emotional and physical stakes involved in firing a real gun. Under those conditions, it's easy to "hit the target" without considering the numerous factors that complicate shooting scenarios.

Beta blockers do help manage some of the issues. Choosing to start with a profession that is trained in firearms also helps. Alternatively, one could start each morning practicing.
Hmm, with the new ID card procedural generation, it would be interesting if upon character generation, the player character would have an array with a list of surnames that would trigger sad moodle if you were near a zombie with the name. But that would be only superficially interesting and I don't think it deserves those few ms just to do this.

Welding works the same as metalworking did in b41 although you don't get xp from dismantling metal objects except cars

Searched it up, since this is still the initial Unstable Beta the only way to level it up is by building snd removing barricades
you can train with the same barricades over and over to gain XP
And I was having issues with dismantling car wrecks which seemed to be the best source, propane torches were being drained and couldn't be refilled in the crafting ui so I had to install a mod which fixed it

Yeah they're rarer because the rare loot setting has been decreased compared to build 41 & there's more items to fill loot pools now like the different magazines, paperback and regular books with titles as well as the new recipe magazines and skill books

I get they want to get away from dismantling being the only source of xp but you should be getting xp from it for stuff you made

Carpentry and metalworking skill grind was a very non-renewable source especially for MP
they wanted to stray away from it so people dont need to raze down entire towns just ti level up their skills

I dunno i think its a little more than that in build 41 you pretty much just sit there fast forward dismantling to level up skills which i never found very fun i think in all the years i played i never even bothered making a rain barrell and leveling carpentry was one of the easiest skills to level. It just was really boring gameplay for me as a casual gamer, who dies a lot, im not going to bother leveling skills up with rewards that didnt give me enough incentive to bother with them

When you get a horde of basic nav zombies pressed up against a fence, would be neat if some get to climb over the fence. And if some get crushed in the crowd and become crawlers. Could have the random chance for both things be relative to number of nearby zeds.

the only thing i would suggest is boot into a unmodded sandbox save, test the hens reproduction ( can change it to be super fast ) and then see if you can reproduce the behavior, if you can you can submit it as a bug report alongside your save file so they can look further into it, from gameplay on my end i never seem to have this issue, but i have had them duplicate to all hell lmao

What ive noticed is that skill books appear in many more places now, so people arnet finding all the skill books they need in one school anymore and not thinking to check other places where they weren’t as often before (like relevant stores to the skill, mail trucks etc)
yah theyre so used to b41 and i really like the new locations for finding things now really gives me a reason to check places i normally wouldnt like cars
I've always stuck to my true method of scavenging every possible house and b42 gives me even more of a reason to do that for skill books

To anyone who is doing like months after the apocalypse, do the farm animals just escape and start roaming the wilderness and towns ?
all the ones i have seen in farms spawn dead outside the ones that spawn in the trailers

So if you don’t take advantage of the animals in the farms and let months go by you wont get the chance of like finding wild chickens or something?

Good question - I haven't tried using a composter in B42.
But have you used it in Build 41? I believe it's the same method, but I've never used it in my life. 😂
In B42 iirc it was just a container - you just put the food in there and left it, it would then turn into compost.

Could you check the loot distribution lua for concrete powder? I have not found it anywhere in the game for build 42.
From what I can see in my files it seems to only spawn in a crates, those crates have a low chance of spawning, and those crates only can spawn in construction zones.

With the aiming books its not hard to reach that relatively early now
Shotguns giving 10XP when shooting at almost point blank helps

skill books have been bit iffy to get for me on Extremely Rare
